I've had the Flex and TT1 for almost 2 years now and they are wonderful. I just purchased my second Flex for a concert shoot since it was going to be an extremely dark venue. Worked great!

The only reason I took off a star is because the attachment feet that slide into the hotshoe are made of plastic and seem to be fairly weak. They haven't broke yet, but I REALLY wish that for the cost of these, they would have made them metal to reduce the risk of snapping them off during a shoot. Just be cautious not to hit them on anything while attached to your camera.

Overall, a fantastic product. Very reliable. I might have to get a controller to control the different groups now too.

I purchased the a Sekonic L-758DR light meter, Pocket Wizard Flex TT5 and a Mini TT1 for Nikon iTTL flash systems, I'm using them with a Nikon SB-910 Speedlight off camera.
I attempted to set it all up, that's where the problems started! I could not get the L-758DR to trigger the flash that was mounted on the Flex TT5 in the iTTL flash mode, nor would the camera fire the flash in the iTTL flash mode with the Mini TT1 mounted on the camera when the shutter button was press to take a photo. I went on line to the Pocket Wizard support website, read all of the posting and watched all of the videos, and checked the firmware to be sure it was the latest.
I then tried setting up the Mini TT1 and the Flex TT5 as per all of the information on their website and a number of third party websites with no success. I then finally decided and tried for 3 days to contact Pocket Wizard support by phone to get only an answering machine instructing me they were busy and to communicate with them by email. Finally after numerous emails that went back and forth over several days instructing me to get on to their support website and read all of the postings and watch the videos, I called several more times and finally got a live person that told me they would email me a few setting to try, they didn't work either. I finally just set the Flex TT5 to the "Basic Trigger Mode" and it started working only in the manual flash mode and not the iTTL or any other flash modes. I come to find out that the Nikon SB-910 is not totally compatible with the Pocket Wizard system. If you want to use the SB-910 you have to set it to be used in the manual mode only for it to work.
It's a lot of money to spend to get the manual mode feature only! If you have a problem and need tech support plan on wasting several days online reading all of the posting, playing email tag or possibly trying to get a live person to tell you they will email you instructions to find out that you have already tried everything listed in there instructions! After, spending countless hours online and reading different posting it appears that a lot of people are have problems with this system and the Nikon SB-910 speedlight. All conclusions are to that the Nikon SB-910 cannot be used with the Pocket Wizard system in the iTTL or any of the other flash modes. I have come to find that customer service is not one of there priorities.

Didn't work at the arboretums, but was stellar in my house

Comments about PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver Radio Slave for Nikon i-TTL Flash System:

Inside my house (where they worked): Finally got the TT5s NOT to fire the SB-700 flash by placing them on different floors AND different ends of the house.  Impressive compared to the Nikon SU-800.

Longwood Gardens conservatory & Morris Arboretum's temple of Mercury (where they never fired): 2 arboretums located in the Philadelphia PA area with lots of concrete, so I thought that was the problem.  Except that purchased the hahnel Tuff TTL wireless trigger system & it worked great!!!  Where the TT5's only fired when I pressed the TEST button, the Tuff TTL only misfired once in over 100 attempts in Longwood Gardens conservatory; and that could have been user error.

So why was the highly-rated & acclaimed PocketWizard system such a dud compared to a product that cost less than 40%?  Didn't occur to either B&H or PocketWizard support that I had defective units; otherwise might have exchanged the TT5's instead of trying another brand.

Why 2 TT5's vs. TT5 + TT1?  Before ordering a pair of these, consulted with PocketWizard customer service to see which was a better option: 2 of these, or 1 of these + Mini TT1.  Going w. the former was a slight distance advantage because each TT5 has its own antenna.

Would I go with PocketWizard in the future?  Maybe.  Cannot discount all of the good reviews, B&H customer service rep (who said that this was the most reliable brand), as well as a photography instructor who not only swears by PocketWizard, but uses them in his classes.  Will have to see how hahnel's systems holds up over time.

I own half a dozen of these slaves, which I use with Nikon flagship flashes. I use the MiniTT1 slaves on the cameras. They have worked great for me, allowing me to light large areas with 5-6 strobes.

Comments about PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver Radio Slave for Nikon i-TTL Flash System:

I use my pocket wizard gear at every wedding throughout the year. I have been using the FlexTT5 for the past three to four years and it has served me well. I use them with my mini TT1 along with the AC3 Zone Controller. I have two sets of TT1 and AC3's that are on two Nikon cameras. The FlexTT5 have never failed me and exposure is always accurate. I have also used them at the maximum distance recommended and my flashes always fire. A good set of batteries in the FlexTT5 usually will last an entire wedding. The FlexTT5 along with all the other PocketWizard products is an excellent product. For the past 11 years, all my cameras, lenses and lighting equipment have been purchased from B&H, which I highly trust and recommend.

Works great but beware!

Comments about PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver Radio Slave for Nikon i-TTL Flash System:

Obviously enough research will land you in the section that tells you what it's compatible with. I have a couple off brand flashes that use ttl and when it comes to basic setup, they work awesome.
However!.....
For some reason if I change the direction of the head on my flash from straightforward to up, left, or 45 degrees, it simply won't sync.. It fires, just at the wrong time. I swear I've played with this time and time again to only find the same results. One more thing as well, I use the AC3 Zone controller, but to this day almost a year after having the system, I can't figure out why I see VERY LITTLE change in the EV when I drop it or raise it. It's almost unnoticeable unless you switch from picture to picture fast. This is same in manual or auto for TTL. I've tried and read numerous articles trying to troubleshoot and the only thing I can come up with is the fact that i'm not using Nikon brand flashes.
Other than that, I've created some amazing around the corner flash techniques that otherwise couldn't . These things work GREAT and I'll continue using them as I feel like I'm going to upgrade my other hardware very shortly.

FlexTT5 trigger a remote camera and fire remote flashes like a dream. Still experimenting of distance but system is working as promised and have all 35 channels to choose from.

This is well worth the money, I upgraded from another brand's system, and this has made my photography life happy. It's completely wireless, so hooking up my flash is so fast! Slide your flash on it's hotshoe, lock it, and you're ready to shoot. It looks to be made very durably, and so far, I have not had one misfire.
