I bought this product to protect my company's presentation materials that are shipped multiple times throughout the year, all over the country. I have owned and used many different Pelican products in the past and have never been disappointed; they are virtually indestructable.

The only real drawback to this case is that it doesn't have a side handle. A side handle would make this case much easier to load and unload from a vehicle.

Pros:

- Extremely well built and durable.
- Foam can be customized to fit a variety of items.
- Has wheels for easier transport.
- Lockable.

Cons:

- Doesn't have a side handle (the only reason for the 4 stars).
- A little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Typical excellent Pelican construction.... BUT, with one very fatal flaw in my opinion. There is ONLY handles on either end, no handle in the middle. This makes handling and loading this case extremely awkward, to downright difficult. I am 6' 4", and can barely extend my arms wide enough to reach both handles, and even still this is a nearly impossible way to try to lift the case without destroying your back if there is much weight in it. As it is designed now, it really takes two people to easily and safely move it. Too bad, if it had a handle in the middle, I would have given it 5 stars as it's perfect for my lightstands in every other way!

I travel a lot by car and by plane. Great rugged case that allows me to pack it all in. It's heavy but built to last!

Heavy...but built to last and holds all my equipment!

Comments about 1740 Transport Case with Foam (Black):

I am a wedding film maker and I am always dealing with a compressed timeline throughout the day. Making one trip from my car to the venue is important so I don't miss any moments.

This case is large enough to fit two Manfrotto tripods with video heads attached, two Manfrotto video monopods, my slider, 3 light stands & my Glidecam HD2000, with plenty of room left over to throw in extention cords, power strips & gaff tape.

I carry all my camera equipment in one backpack.

Keep in mind, since it does hold all my equipment for myself AND my second shooter, this thing gets heavy real quick! There is no handle in the middle, so you'll have to extend your arms to reach the two handles on each end. A better and safer idea is to always have help when lifting this in and out of your car.

It also has wheels, so rolling this case to the venue is no problem.'

Side note:
A concerned neighbor thought I was hauling around some high-powered assault rifles!

Amazing!!

Comments about 1740 Transport Case with Foam (Desert Tan):

This case is absolutely amazing. It's a total game changer if you're transporting a mobile studio on a regular basis like I am. I can fit a backdrop kit, multiple light stands, softboxes, reflectors, you name it, in this thing. The fact that it has wheels and you can pull it around has saved my life. Plus pelican cases are nearly indestructible, water proof and dust proof so all my gear is safe at all times. If you have a mobile studio just buy one.

Large professional case with easy fit foam packing. Foam can up-pluck during long flights but is super durable and has multiple layers of foam for extra padding. Great on flights

Hard to beat Pelican

By Chris

Comments about 1740 Transport Case with Foam (Black):

I use this to haul my tripods and other large gear. So far it holds 2 tripods, 1 monopod, 2 small light stands. I could hold more if I took out all the foam. So far I love it. Super tough. I flew it to Alaska and back and it is still going strong.

Product just as advertised. A good pick

Comments about 1740 Transport Case with Foam (Black):

Case was delivered cross country in three days.

Product is solid, foam inserts a combination of eggshell and pre-cut pieces that made fitting products easy. Price was excellent after comparing to multiple cases. Handel & wheels also good for transporting full case which will exceed 100 lbs. Multiple lock points.

Wouldn't change a thing after one trip.

Pelican Rocks! Just get the right size and that's it.

Comments about 1740 Transport Case with Foam (Black):

This case is the absolutely best case for the price. It can generally speaking fit two big tripods, with heads on or off, padding all around and come in at just under 50lbs which is good for travel within the USA on most major airlines. The safety of the contents is what must be highlighted. Pelican rocks!

Great case for light stands, flat panel lights and misc.

By Paul D

Comments about 1740 Transport Case with Foam (Black):

I am traveling on planes with this case right now. 1 Manfrotto 756B tripod, MVH502AH Head, MX2000 tripod, four small light stands, 2 Genaray Essential 240 flat panel lights with power cables, 2 umbrellas, Westcott Reflector Arm, small tool bag, 2 grip heads with Articulating arm, and it all fits!

I wish the foam held up better after taking everything in and out but that is to be expected. I took the plastic identifier off the front because I knew the baggage handlers would break it right away. Great case though, great strong wheels. The baggage handlers and TSA have really tried to beat this up and it already has dings and dents on it after being on six flights but everything is safe inside and the case is not compromised at all.

Getting in and out of cabs in the city has been easy. The driver grabs one end, I grab the other and we lift it in and out so easily. I even had to go into a building that did not have a ramp so I wheeled it up 12 steps, no problem.

Pelican cases are the best!

We are a Prototype shop in California and shipping very expensive models and prototypes around the world.
Never ever had any issue with any shippments using the Pelican Cases.
The pick and plug foam makes it easy and secure to custom pack our items.
The case is very rugget and the snap lock is very secure.

Use this for my tripods, minigib, and light stands. Works great for flying and compact. Whats useful is that you can take out the layers of foam or customizes it any way you wish. You can't go wrong with Pelican. Could really use a center handle...

I'm using this case as my new lighting case for stands and grip heads plus all of my LED lights.

These cases are great and now great is even better with a new design on the latches. Just as strong, but now you don't have to be. You could be nursing a sprained wrist and still do up all the latches on this new design.

I will be getting another one in a different config.

I needed to transport tripods, stands, lighting equipment, etc. This case did the trick my equipment was well protected, but lugging it around through airports was a pain. I was lucky on my flight out I only paid a $25 bag fee with 61 pounds total weight (most airlines charge $25 for 50 pounds max), however on the way back the flight check in person was not so kind and charged me $100 for the 61 pounds.
