If you are looking at this item, and wondering, "well is it going to work?, is it sturdy, is it going to last, are the flexible components sturdy? Are they easily breakable? Is it as compact and durable as they say"...YES! YES! YES! & YES!. Mine just came in the mail (Shipped buy UPS) today. And Let me tell you this little thing is amazing. I weighed it weighs exactly 2 lb.. The length is a little less than 19inches. The width around (stand collapsed) is about 6 inches around. Its is amazingly portable.

Sturdiness, most buy this stand for photo lighting , I use this stand to become portable for studio recording. I use this stand as a mic stand (with a 3/8 euro to 5/8 Male adapter) for my Apogee One Interface which weighs bout 1/2 a pound, then I places my AKG Mic on the Nano stand which weighs 6 lbs and rack mount which eight 1&1/2 lb. Total of 7&1/2 pounds. THEN I placed a boom on the stand a 15 inch boom weighing bout 2 lbs, with a rack mount and a studio mic almost 10lbs of weight on the nano (not to mention the balance of the boom with the mic on the end (normally light weight stand will tip over f not sandbagged but not the nano its genius design has the tripod legs of the stand so long that it not only make its sturdy and strong but gives it amazing balance, so you can place something on it that is 3 times its weight AND off balance and it will stand firm.

Durability, this things is made out of stone cold steel (I know its not really but almost) Just to test it out I had my kid jump on it (I know, I know but I test everything (9 yr old boy bout 95 lbs of muscle and cereal) I mean literally jump on it and pound on it several times aside from a few scratches NOTHING BROKE. After the mayhem I picked it up uncollapsed it placed it up and everything was perfect. I know most people think, light weight+compact= breakable. Nope! not this thing they should re name it the "Might Mouse Stand". Anyway BUY IT!

David Hobby and Bob Krist fervently endorse this compact - but flimsy - light stand; sorry, but I can't. The basic assets of portability and compactness frustratingly overridden by jello-like stability during adjustments, which means waiting... and waiting for the "tensile wavering" to subside before you can continue shooting. Why make that sort of compromise, unless excessive girth the ONLY concern?

If you barely touch your lights, or don't extend much beyond the middle range of the stand's maximum height, go for it. It's still decently constructed, with good mechanicals, but too petite to inspire much expectation at taller extension, at least with an umbrella on board. Strobe-only use may be acceptable to most.

Small and Sturdy

Comments about Manfrotto 5001B Nano Black Light Stand - 6.2' (1.9m):

I love how this product collapses into such a small footprint. The downside, of course, is that it is very light. It's not wobbly at all, but wouldn't be the best choice with heavier equipment or windy conditions. I purchased it for it's small form factor and construction - which it delivers on.

These stands are amazing! Great height and a very low profile. You may want to utilize a sand bag or two for heavier lights, though. When fully collapse these fit perfectly in a Pelican 1510 case. I have 5 lights and 3 of these stands in one case. Perfect for travel.

Comments about Manfrotto 5001B Nano Black Light Stand - 6.2' (1.9m):

These are more important to me with each passing year.. luckily, as I get older technology has allowed good equipment to get lighter. I also travel a lot and having these and few flexible led panels is a fantastic travel kit.. they have basically replaced my old hot lights and stands (even when I'm not traveling).

Very sturdy and light as I thought it would be. Could come with carrying protection, but it's not a problem. Excellent for the price, cheaper than the MS0490A, other excellent model.

Perfect stand for small to moderate light source. Consistent with Manfrotto quality. May be too lightweight for frequent mobile use but otherwise a quality product.

First of all, I got this product knowing it wouldn't hold a lot of weight. All I need this stand for is for my speed lights and LED lights. My favorite stand for sure!

Comments about Manfrotto 5001B Nano Black Light Stand - 6.2' (1.9m):

I love how small, light, and compact this lightstand is. I can take it anywhere. However, the clamps are hard to tighten enough to hold even a simple strobe without sliding down. After less than a year, the top clamp just snapped in half. I'm probably going to replace it though, because I can't find another light stand that's the same size or smaller with better construction. If anyone knows of one, let me know.

I inherited an old, heavy, giant Manfrotto light stand from my dad. It is great, but entirely too large and heavy. The manfrotto nano is perfect for my needs--light and holds my speedlight and lightbox.
