Comments about f/Stop 1.4 Camera Bag (Khaki with Chocolate Trim):

I've owned a Hadley Pro for about 15 years and I also have a more recently purchased Billingham L2 bag. Both are excellent bags and, in my opinion, some of the best bags available in their size range. The L2 is perfect for a small outfit, the Hadley for something larger. Looking at the f/Stop 1.4 side-by-side with the Hadley Pro, the sizes look the same. What is different is the shape--the Hadley is more contoured to fit close to the body while the f/Stop is more rectangular. The Hadley is very comfortable to carry, however, it is sometimes difficult to remove and replace equipment in this bag while wearing it. The f/Stop gives a little more room in the main compartment due to the shape and this allows easier access to the equipment while shooting. It doesn't mold itself to my hip as well as the Hadley Pro but I like the way it carries my gear.

I wasn't initially attracted to the Fibrenyte material. I like the canvas which is already waterproof so I didn't see the need for a different material. However, the f/Stop feels much lighter in weight and Billingham says this is due to the Fibrenyte material used. Billingham also says that it is more weather and wear resistant as well. On inspection, it looks and feels a lot like the original canvas but slightly thinner and not quite as soft to the touch.

Would I change anything? Well, I think the front straps are a little oddly shaped and overly long. Coming from the Hadley Pro and L2 bags, the straps work backwards to me--pulling up to open vs pulling down on the other two bags. I'll have to get used to that. The front pocket on the f/Stop is unpadded and shallow. Adding a bit of padding and making it deeper like that on the L2 would be a plus. Otherwise, I can't complain...and these are only minor nitpicks, not real complaints.

I'm really happy with the f/Stop 1.4 bag. It's Billingham quality, Hadley Pro sized and L2 shaped. In my opinion, that's a great combination.

Best Billingham for DSLR

Comments about f/Stop 1.4 Camera Bag (Khaki with Chocolate Trim):

If you have a DSLR and are looking for a Billingham bag that will fit your gear, look no further. This bag is 2 1/2" deeper than the Billingham Hadley Pro and is about the same width and height. I sold my Hadley Pro and purchased the f/stop 1.4 because it fits a DSLR better. I've got a Pentax K-3 and even with a grip on it fits smoothly. The Billingham Hadley Pro will not fit my K-3 with grip because it's only about 3" wide. And the Hadley Pro also is shaped like a "smile". Wider in the center, but narrow on each end. The Billingham F/stop 1.4 is rectangular all the way through and fits larger gear much better. You sacrifice the two front pockets that the Hadley Pro has but so what. I'd rather have quick easy access to my gear rather than having to "fight" it to squeeze it in and out of a bag that's too small.

So if you're looking for a bag that will fit your DSLR, buy this one. If you have a mirrorless camera like the Fuji's or Olympus, then the Hadley Pro makes more sense.

Comments about f/Stop 1.4 Camera Bag (Black with Black Leather Trim):

I'm very glad I bought the larger F1.4 versus the smaller F2.8. I have the Hadley Pro (which I really like) but the Hadley Pro won't accept the Billingham tripod straps - so I looked for another Billingham bag which does accept the tripod straps -- around the same size as the Hadley Pro. They are close in size but the Hadley Pro is longer.

My Hadley Pro will carry my cameras and my MacBook Air "13 (easily) fits too. The F1.4 isn't wide enough for the MacBook Air "13 but I can slide in an iPad.

The FStop bags are made with the FibreNyte material. I like the canvas a bit more.

Make sure to get the SP40 Shoulder Pad - it is well worth the money when you are carrying a heavier load (it snaps off when not needed).
