Work very well with my 70-200 f4 L and my 7D with a magnification of 1.6 to 280 mm
I lose nothing in image quality as it can be perceptible. At 5.6 and a focal that it is even sharper. Uses for birds and photography fox and I am extremely satisfied.
But only compatible with the Series L, not all lens.
Also very useful when traveling.
Even though it is a bit expensive but it is very good quality. You pay for what you have!
A must to have!!
4 Start because it's not compatible with all lenses
You won't regret.

Look the picture at 280 mm, F8, 1/500 iso 200
No modification could be at 5.6 too,and it's not my best one!

I have Canon 70D and a EF 100-400mm 1:4.5-5.6 L lense. The optics was good when taking some pictures of birds and a sunrise from a distance. However, the AF did not work. I read all the literature and based on that I thought the AF would work. I called Canon and they stated it would work only on certain cameras of their line, but not the 70D. I was disappointed because I paid the extra money for AF. I returned the extender and purchased a cheaper one and will probably have to manual focus. So I would check with Canon before purchasing this extender if you want the AF to work.

Must have addition to 200 and 400 mm lenses.

Comments about Canon Extender EF 1.4X III:

Works great with my 200 mm L lens with no measurable loss in image quality. Enables me to carry my 70 to 200 mm lens without carrying my big lens when traveling light. When I need to capture images at a greater distance then normal, it works well with my 100 to 400 L lens.Lens becoming a 560 mm lens. Wildlife does not always come close enough while sitting in bushes for hours.

Perfect Accessory!

Comments about Canon Extender EF 1.4X III:

This is the perfect accessory to go with my new Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM lens. I am a small female who hikes alot in the backcountry and did not want to lug along a bigger, heavier lens. The extender is easy to put on, take off, and all the photos that I've taken with it on are tack sharp!

I use this with my Canon 100-400 lens on a Canon 7D II camera for wildlife photography. It works perfectly and I see no degradation in image quality. It seems very well made and functions just as it should.

An improvement over the Canon 1.4X II

Comments about Canon Extender EF 1.4X III:

Purchased this to use with the Canon 200-400L with internal 1.4X extender. Produced surprisingly good results on my first use with it, even though the light was very poor. The 7D II AF grabbed the birds quickly even with this extender attached, and held it when the internal extender was switched in in addition. Should work well to replace my 1.4X II extender on my 70-200 2.8 II

Comments about Canon Extender EF 1.4X III:

Purchased to couple with my 100-400 lens, thus giving me 560 mm on a Canon 7D Mark II. Very happy with it for flight shots. Don't see any real difference in sharpness. Still have 5 focus points at F8.

Canon 1.4x review

Comments about Canon Extender EF 1.4X III:

Have only been using this extender for about a week on my 70-200 IS 2.8, but I really like it so far. There is a slight degradation of image quality when fully zoomed at 200 mm but really only noticeable if you tightly crop your finished image

I bought this extender to use with my 24mm TS I haven't used it on a job yet but my test seems to look sharp and that was the biggest worry (without vignetting).

Canon EF 1.4X III Extender

By Robert

Verified Buyer

Comments about Canon Extender EF 1.4X III:

Bought this extender with a 5D Mark IV to use with a Canon 100-400mm II lens for a little extra reach shooting wildlife. Very disappointed in the quality of the shots. Focus was slow with the Extender and not sharp at all through the various focal lengths. Returned to B&H after 3 days of extensive shooting.

More reach for wildlife photography.

Comments about Canon Extender EF 1.4X III:

I use my new extender with my Canon 100-400 II Lens. I lose one f-stop of light, but until Canon comes up with a 150-600 L Lens this is my choice for tack sharp wildlife photography.

A useful but limited tool

By Woody

from Connecticut

Verified Buyer

Comments about Canon Extender EF 1.4X III:

I do mostly bird and nature photography, and i was looking for a cheap way to extend my reach with my 100-400L, as an alternative to an 8 or 10 thousand dollar lens. I don't try to sell so perfect is not necessary and this extender does help get some good close ups if you are within say 30 feet. Beyond that the ISO goes up pretty fast and focus is problematic even with IS. Good for documenting records of faraway birds but not for killer pics unless, again, within 30 - 40 feet. Examples of each situation are below.

Bad investment

By Seattle Sammy

Comments about Canon Extender EF 1.4X III:

I read other reviews and thought this would be a good addition to my lens lineup. Received it in the mail and was eager to shoot with it. However, when I used it I was deeply disappointed. I attached it to my 70-200 2.8 IS USM II and placed it on my 7DII and the image quality was horrible!!!! I thought something may have been wrong with me camera. However, once I removed the extender and just used my camera-lens setup without it.. The images were coming out crystal clear and sharp.

I promptly returned it to B&H. I'm glad they have a good return policy. This was a bad investment. I will save my money for 100 - 400 L version ii lens.
