I was hoping to replace my canon 18-55 (MK II) and 55-250 (MK I) with this lens.
On the 55-250 end of the Tamron PZD, it is definitely an upgrade. Some of the Tamron PZD's advantage over the 55-250 are:
-Auto focus is much faster, and 55-250 is simply frustrating to auto focus (p.s. faster than the 55-250, not other lenses)
-Nearly no noise when auto focusing
-IF, works better with a polarizer
-The colors are amazing!
-Images are quite sharp
-Extra focal length (250-270), sometimes you just need that little bit of extra focal length, but most of the time it doesn't matter.

However, when compared to 18-55, the Tamron PZD has significant distortion on the the 18-55 end, mainly 18-30ish. This distortion can be easily corrected using a photo editing software, but this takes some extra time.

Prior to buying this lens, I read many reviews about comparing this lens to prime lenses and the "L" series.
I personally don't think it is fair to compare images from a super zoom to those from a prime lens. A prime lens usually has sharper images, and is able to get to lower f-stop (I wouldn't say Tamron PZD's bokeh is nice, but acceptable), whereas a super zoom can switch to a large range of focal length easily. They belong to different categories.
As for the "L" series (people like to talk about 24-70L), MAN! THEY ARE EXPENSIVE! You get what you paid for, and I think the Tamron PZD is worth its price, and even more. (And again, it's a super zoom, one should know what to expect from a super zoom, which is not necessarily perfect images)

Application of the lens: the Tamron PZD is a great travel, walk-around lens, because of its zoom range, VC when hand held, and light weight. Sometimes it is also suitable to take event pictures. It works very well when under sufficient light, and when in low light, it's so-so. I recommend using this lens when taking snapshots and candid pictures. You will find surprises :)

I purchased this lens prior to leaving for a holiday in Australia and New Zealand. After shooting nearly 4600 images, I was impressed. Results were good ... the lens was sharp overall but sharper in the mid-range than in the long telephone (270mm). My complaints are these: 1) there was unexpected flare in photos taken in the direction of a brightly lit area and 2) why Tamron chose to offer this lens in a Canon mount when the rotation of the zoom is just the opposite of what you find on Canon lenses is beyond comprehension. It's apparently designed for Nikon with a Canon mount. Nice lens however I would never buy another Tamron for these two reasons. Having said that, the zoom (18-270) is ideal for traveling.

I returned it for the newer Tamron 16-300mm lens on my friends suggestion.
It was not a problem with B&H wonderful customer service.
Only used it a couple of times, but so far I am very happy with the results.
Great range, quick focusing, compact & light.
I can see it being my go to lens.
I am going to Iceland & did not want to carry a lot of extra lenses.
This will fit my needs.

Just a avid amateur photographer that wanted a "All Around Lens". I found many people using this lens while traveling so decided on one for myself. Seems to fit the bill except for some fuzziness on certain shots. All in all it serves the purpose and eliminates multiple lenses on the road.

Comments about Tamron AF18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD AF Lens for Canon:

Love this lens! After doing much research, I bought it because for the last 4 years, I'd kept switching between 2 lenses, the 18-55mm and 55-250mm. They did a great job, but on outings it was frustrating going back and forth every time scenery or objects changed. This has a good wide angle at 18mm for landscapes, and is sharp all the way to the 270mm. Would not hesitate to buy this lens again! Thank you Tamron for a great "all in one"!

I also own tamron's original 18/270 mm lens, but have not been happy due to the very bad lens creap! That was the only fault I had with the len's on my 3 Canon camera's. As of this time this with updated lens I have not had the problem. I will update as time passes!

The tamron lens allowed me to focus on a male lions yawn, the giraffe posed for a drink and the hippo checking out the tourists. It takes a basic digital camera and makes beautiful photos.

Comments about Tamron AF18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD AF Lens for Canon:

I was really disappointed with Tamron and this Lens. I have Tamron's 28-300mm EF lens and it works perfectly. So I expected the same kind of quality from Tamron for this lens Tamron 18-270 for use on my travel friendly Canon Rebel SL1. When focusing and looking thru the optical viewfinder, the image shakes before it focuses. That was so strange, so I thought it was my camera. So I tested my SL1 using the Canon 70-300mm and the Canon 18-55 and both of them did not show the same shaking of image when focusing. So I returned the Tamron lens, and requested for a replacement . The new replacement arrived and again, the image would shake just before it locks focus. And when the focusing is locked, the location of my focus point has moved on the screen. So I was forced to return the 2nd lens I received. That is a bit shocking to know Tamron doesn't control the quality of their products. I am nervous now to ever order another Tamron product . I am so thankful to B&h for the great service- very fast response and great customer service

Comments about Tamron AF18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD AF Lens for Canon:

The product is good specially when travelling. No need to change lenses. Image quality is good. lens creeping is inevitable, just secure the lock when not in use. But after 2 years, rubber grip in zoom ring loosens, may be due to moisture and rubber wear. Still a good lens.

I purchased this product for use when traveling and that is how I have used it. It eliminates the need to change lens' and to carry more than one lens. THe trip before this past one, I had two lens' and was very clumsily changing them as I tried to get pictures with both....this trip, one lens did it all.
Does take seconds longer to focus but... is worth it.
