Comments about PreSonus AudioBox 44VSL - USB 2.0 Recording System:

I use(d) this interface for a small project studio. Performance is spotty at best, and Presonus' support has been less than stellar.

Constant distortions, jitters and freezes up once in a while.

Presonus has discontinued support of the VSL software even for new units.

Please visit the Presonus forums and see what the reality is there before buying any Presonus hardware.

I no longer use mine and have gone back to my MBox.

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox 44VSL - USB 2.0 Recording System:

I use this with my Picturall Broadcast Media Server which has the ability to assign up to 8 output channels via USB. I have yet to need that many channels, so the 4-channel Presonus works perfectly, and I like that it uses an AC power supply so it's not relying solely on the USB cable for Power.

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox 44VSL - USB 2.0 Recording System:

I've been upgrading my home studio bit by bit, and I after reading the tech specs and reviews, I decided to give this a try. I was already a fan of the PreSonus Studio One software, so I was expecting the same level of quality in their hardware gear. And I was right! It has all the input gain you could ever need, and is built solid. The converters sound great, and I like how you can blend the input signal and that from the DAW in your headphones. I highly recommend this as a good interface for the intermediate/advanced home studio/musician, and as a nice option if one isn't willing to spend $ for the 8 mic input version (the 1818VSL)One thing to mention: I can see the plastic knobs breaking if it gets tossed around too much or too violently, so take care!

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox 44VSL - USB 2.0 Recording System:

This is my first venture into any kind of recording. The 44VSL and Studio one are easy to set up, and the PreSonus customer support has been great. I had some downloading issues (my issues not theirs) and had asked some questions on their forums which resulted in an email and follow up phone call from a customer support tech. He fixed my screw up and I was off and running.....more like jogging, like I said, I'm new to the world of virtual studios. There are also tons of tutorial videos out there. [*]

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox 44VSL - USB 2.0 Recording System:

I use it to record music with my friends at church. Virtually zero latency. I haven't been able to figure out how the Studio One software works but the disc comes with loads of loops, effects (delay, reverb etc). Haven't been able to get it to work with Adobe Audition. I'll look into it, over 100% recommended

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox 44VSL - USB 2.0 Recording System:

I loved this product. Easy to install. Good built. Portable with my laptop and a good frequency response.Could have been better if the resolution had touched 24bit/192kHz which none of the Presonus product offers. (Please convey to Presonus)Should have been Bus Powered. The Power adapter seems so cheap.

I was unable to get rid of a constant clicking noise using this with my mac os x. Updated the drivers, updated my OS, turned off my Airport, etc...Otherwise would have been great!

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox 44VSL - USB 2.0 Recording System:

I have had the RME hamerfall firewire interface which costs twice to three times what this does and I really can't say it's sound was 'better' just slightly colored different. These preamps are awesome and make even a standard old sm 58 loud, clear, warm, and crisp with plenty of head room and powerful warm clean preamps.

The box is sturdy, the software works perfectly first install, no glitches. Headphone am is powerful and load. I love it. I just wish it didn't need a plug so it would be easier to use with my laptop but then the preamps and phantom power wouldn't be as good as they are.
