I specifically was looking for a photo gear backpack that would carry my body, lenses, and most used accessories Plus a few overnight things like socks, underwear, t-shirt and simple toiletries. The Lowepro Video Fastpack 350 looked like my bag until I saw just how huge it was in a video review...

Enter the Video Fastpack 250:
Most reviews are not informative - I want to know what (size) body and main lens (size) you can hold plus other lenses and accessories.

To the point, here is what I hold ~
Main lower gear compartment:
EOS 70D (easily gripped) with EF 70-300L IS with hood extended. Invert the hood and you could slip in a provided partition for an 'upright' EF 24-105L IS, for example.

320EX speedlight (out of case) on left side of camera body/mounted lens (lots of room for larger speedlight, in fact Lowepro made a special compartment where you could fit a long accessory 'under' the speedlight, too.

Two other compartments for 'upright' large lenses (size of EF 24-105L IS, for example)

There is a compartment for a huge laptop that would hug against your spine. I don't have one, and I have read it is uncomfortable for some people.

Upper Compartment: I threw in a rocket blower, SD cards, Lens-pens, a pen, extra AA batteries, extension tubes, and other stuff and I still have room for socks, underwear and a t-shirt plus toothbrush and comb. It actually comes with a little (video?) accessories pack in the upper compartment which seems handy for maybe stuff you don't grab often... remote shutters, etc...

There is an outer upper compartment to easily get at extra batteries, charger, microfiber cloth, Rolaids, and more.

On the side pocket you can put in a water bottle, or I attached a medium sized compact umbrella. There is an upper clip belt to secure it AND you can also pull out the tripod pouch under the water-bottle pouch and insert a tripod leg and share the upper clip belt with the umbrella.

This a large, comfortable, water resistant, well thought out photo-gear backpack that I am excited to have.

I own the Fastpack 100 which is a great little backpack to carry your extra stuff in... "while you carry around your camera body and lens" (yeah, if you put a 70D in this packpack - you can only attach a 18-55 kit sized lens, plus two other upright smallish lenses like 85 f/1.8 size)

You will get many other details from other reviews but I wanted you to know the body size and lenses and accessories you could typically fit.

I did not see ONE video review of this backpack on youtube or anywhere - except one good reviewer briefly showed the size difference between his Video Fastpack 350 and the smaller 250, which sold me on the 250. Thus I took a chance on this bag but am quite pleased.

Remember, the regular Fastpack 250/350 do not have a tripod holder, only the "Video Fastpack". Please let me know if you found this review helpful.

I love the exterior design of this well-made bag (and this bag is remarkably spacious). That said, I returned it as soon as it arrived because I didn't like how the camera body sat somewhat loosely in the padding. I tried to adjust the padding to fix that, but still felt like it was sagging and not completely snug in place. This may have been just the one I got. I am also very cautious about protecting gear (probably too cautious!). But I'm happy now with a smaller bag where the camera sits in its holster a bit tighter.

I bought this for a trip so i could keep everything in one place. It held my Nikon F5 with 300mm lens attached, Nikon FE2 body, and at least 2 other lenses. Also held all my film, a laptop, tape, shutter release cable, filters, tripod, light meter. Everything i needed to take. It was great. Doesn't feel very heavy on either.

The pack is a great size, not too big, not too bulky. A ton of room for my laptop, dslr with telephoto lens, and all camera accessories to fit inside. Fits under airplane seats nicely and the interior is high quality. I wish it was weatherproof on its own, especially the bottom of the pack, without the AW cover, but otherwise, the bag is great for a traveling photographer.

I've got a 6+ year old low pro fast pack bag an decided I needed another. This one has fixed all the small issues I had with the other one. Just minor things really as I still love that old bag. The design for this new one is more rugged and is cleaner overall. I love the rain pouch which I have been using while traveling through the UK. The price was a no brainier for the quality of the bag. I did my research and kept coming back to low pro and glad I did.

Roomy! Has room for 3 lens, camera body, and various other essentials for photography. Has a rain hood which is easily accessible. Has a compartment for a computer, which also holds a knee pad if you don't bring the computer. This is the second 205 AW which my husband has owned. His original was stolen and he wanted the exact same video backpack. You can access the camera by unzipping only a portion of the compartment.

I have been looking for a backpack that can carry all my photo gears plus other necessary equipment for touring, such as a laptop, water bottle etc.

This backpack fits my standard nicely. I could carry all my photo equipment (a DSLR, two lenses, cleaning kit, charger, and a tripod) and valuable items (laptop, wallet etc) while touring. With the helpful design to hold water bottles and a waterproof cover nicely stored at the bottom of backpack.

So far, I just love it!

Comments about Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 250 AW (Black):

I had been looking for a simple but well thought out solution to carry all of the need gear (computer, camera(s), mice, etc) that I use for producing/editing for outdoor entertainment shows. In the past I would have a bag or two slung over each shoulder with a tripod in one hand and I would probably have something else in the other. But because of this bag, all of my gear that I use for video production can travel with me in a compact but comfortable package.

With this bag I can carry a 15"MBP, GH4 with 3 different lenses, VND filters, an on camera light, wireless mic system, Rode Video Mic Pro, headphones, mediums sized tripod (65" height) and a few portable hard drives and when needed, I still have room for a Canon XA20/G30/G20 and another mic for the camera. I had concerns about having that much weight in a compact bag but this little bag maintains its comfort level very well. The shoulder straps are designed/padded well and in the right places. I have carried other bags that could carry the same amount of gear but the straps were poorly designed and it made for some very uncomfortable hiking. The back panel is vented which helps keep the low back area cool while carrying the bag. The zippers have yet to give me any problems and seemed to keep my gear dry (but I haven't had the bag out in heavy rain, just a steady light rain) and with that said, I haven't been able to use the rain cover but its nice extra to have just in case.

I liked how the compartments are laid out (the location of the velcro for the camera area is good too). The camera area is flexible enough to get a D4s with a 70-200 on it in the center slot or, what I typically carry, a GH4 with a 14-150 and a 25mm in the same slot. In addition to having quality zippers, the safety strap for the camera compartment is a nice backup. It prevents the camera compartment flap from opening all the way open and dumping out your camera (which has saved me a few times BTW). The tripod pouch is sufficient for a Manfrotto 535 Tripod or something similar but a tripod with a spreader might be a bit too big for that design.

2 little features that I didn't known about at the time that I purchased the bag are SD card pouches in the camera area flap and the wireless mic system organizer bag. I can put 3 SD's in each of the 2 pouches. The organizer has a side that has a thin layer of padding on one side, 2 slots for the transmitter and receiver and it has a small zippered pocket that could be used for extra batteries or an extra lapel mic. The upper main compartment has a few pouches and a zippered pocket that is useful for extra cables/chargers.

The bag is a great bag that makes keeping your gear organized a simple task. Lowepro has taken the time to think of some little things that really make the difference, for example, the button loop that can hold your headphones that's located in the main upper compartment (it has a stitched headphone on it). It's great bag for anyone who likes to/needs to carry a camera and computer on a regular basis for whatever the reason. Great Job Lowepro!!!

Bought this to replace another bag that had a broken zipper. I'm pretty impressed with the bag. It fits my pro DSLR with a 70-200 lens attached plus 2 other lenses and a speed light flash. Plus it has a nice accessory pocket that can fit a Canon SL1 or another lens or two. The laptop pocket is large enough for most laptops and I especially like the tripod pocket.

I went Into NYC this last weekend with my backpack and used both the tri-pod compartment and the rain shield, both of which worked great! Easy in and out of pockets, easy to access camera compartment, overall GREAT bag!

Comments about Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 250 AW (Black):

                  Just a couple of points:

Camera Compartment holds a Canon 70D (or 40D with battery pack) with 100-400 l II attached just fine. In addition 2 medium-sized lenses and a binocular (squeezed in) or flash.

Upper compartment is rather small, but hold useful stuff or smaller pieces of clothing.

I first had ordered the Video Fastpack 350 AW which I found much too large.
The 250 wears very well on the back, access to the camera is pretty easy.Waist belt support not padded.
Overall quality as expected, zippers ok.
What this backpack lacks are 2 more smaller pockets on the outside.
If you carry a tripod along, you have nowhere to store a bottle of water (unless you lay it flat in the top compartment)
                  Good laptop compartment

Due to the storage of the lenses in the camera compartment you must be very careful when setting down the backpack on the ground. Base not really padded thickly.

Comments about Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 250 AW (Black):

I have been using this bag for over 6 months now and it still looks brand new.
Below is a quickly compiled list of all the good and bad traits.
                  Good:
Very well made bag constructed of fine materials. Protected me and my gear while out street shooting in Chicago. Sleek honeycomb design on the material I didn't notice online. Plenty of space in the camera compartment which can be customized to fit telephoto lenses as well as zooms and primes. There is a grey slip cover hidden in the bottom of the bag that you can deploy during inclement weather. Plenty of straps and buckles to keep gear sealed in tight. Easy access to camera by holding bag as a sling.

                  Bad:
Basically for me there is too much space in the camera compartment and not enough in the top pocket. My camera sits snug in the inside pocket but I might have been better off with the 150aw, only having two lenses. This bag even empty has a little heft to it with all the padding but with my camera, two lenses, laptop, chargers, tripod, flashlight, and some more light personal items this bag gets up to likely near 30 pounds. With the padding on the straps though this is more than fine for a few hours at a time. I usually leave my tripod and laptop out which makes the bag much more bearable. Using this bag all day has left me with a sore back.

Comments about Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 250 AW (Black):

As a film student I wanted something that was functional, versatile, and could protect my gear. I needed something I could possibly take with me to campus on a daily basis for film class. Living in Louisiana, where the weather is never predictable, I wanted something that could protect my gear and function well during sudden changes of weather. The DSLR Video Fastpack 250 AW far surpasses my expectations. With the side access I can quickly and easily access my camera for on the go photography. I was very surprised at how much could fit inside this back pack, the laptop compartment can not only fit my 13" laptop but a few small notebooks for class as well. When I was loading my audio gear I was a little bit hesitant but everything fit in the top compartment perfectly (I even had room for an external hard drive, extra batteries, and cables)! I was most doubtful of the All Weather cover, I was unsure if it would actually protect my gear in heavy rain. Despite my distrust I found that it really does work, when a torrential down pour surprised myself and a few friends on a hike my gear survived perfectly dry!
I cannot recommend this product enough for students/amateur photographers/ DSLR filmmakers.

Well made and just the right size so my purpose. In the lower main compartment I can fit either a Canon 7D or 5D III with grips and a 70-200mm attached. In addition two smaller lenses 17-50mm and a 18-75mm will fit. A flash will also fit in the same compartment. The top compartment is large enough to carry a lot of accessories like batteries, filters, cables, etc. There is a nice tripod pocket that folds away when not in use as does the attached rain cover.

I'm using this bag to carry my still-photo equipment AND my computer stuff back and forth to work, and it has many virtues in that role.

First, it's comfortable, with a hip-belt that's big enough to actually take weight off the shoulders. Second, it's got plenty of room without looking huge, and the inside compartments are adequately adjustable. Third, I like the fact that it's all black and does NOT sport bright-colored Lowepro logos that announce, "Hey, there's photo equipment in here." Fourth, I like the fact the bag tends to sit up at attention, rather than falling over immediately like most backpacks do. Fifth, I like that it's got a rain cover built in -- and has an outside pocket for a one-quart water bottle.

It's designed with a lot of nooks and crannies for video gear -- but frankly I wish it had many more little pockets and compartment of various types and size. You can never have enough pockets.

Well designed camera bag designed for the photographer (camera/video). I purchased mainly for the ability to carry my camera body with long lens attached (Canon 70-200) and slots for two other lenses and flash compartment. The bag also has a large storage area for batteries, charger, shutter release cables, notebook, pens, misc. items. Also has a slot for a notebook computer. Backpack feature is a plus for carrying. Would recommend.
