Fairly new to the Fuji mirror less X-format, I had been eyeing the new 56mm f1.2 lens. But since I already own the very fast 23mm lens, I couldn't get myself to spend almost $ for another fast lens. The 60mm f2.4 turns out to be a great alternative and with the 4250 instant rebate, it's just a deal that you can't let go.And I couldn't be happier with that decision. To be honest, I don't see how you can make portraits with the 56mm wide open, the DOF will be just too thin!Even the 60mm wide open (at f2.4) gives a really shallow DOF, accompanied with an amazing boket! If you're budget conscious, don't hesitate to get this fabulous portrait lens.

I must agree with the reviews - the lens is very slow to autofocus (especially at macro distance, but also in good light at portrait distance). It is also rather minimal in terms of features: Only 1:2 magnification and no focus limiter. The manual focus takes a lot of time in macro mode because you need to move the focus ring a lot to get focus changes. Of course to a degree that necessary for macro, but its less of a problem on other macro lenses.

But now to the good aspects: Image quality is great, very sharp across the frame starting at f2.4. Also, it is nice to have f2.4, while most other macro lenses start at f2.8 or more. I like how fuji puts a high priority on squeezing out a little more aperture out of most lenses.

With the current deal, the lens is just $400, that is a good price I'd say. The usual $650 is too steep in my opinion for what this lens offers.

Terrific lens. I have yet to come across a Fuji lens that I wasn't totally satisfied with.

Comments about Fujifilm 60mm f/2.4 XF Macro Lens:

This is one of three primary lenses I purchased for my Fujifilm X Pro2 (other two are the Fuji 23mm and the Zeiss 12mm). This lens is quite sharp, light, and the macro is useful when you want to get close. f2.4 is fast enough for most work you'd use this lens for. Very happy with it

Wow - outstanding

Comments about Fujifilm 60mm f/2.4 XF Macro Lens:

I've owned a few macros in the Nikon world. My Nikon 55mm and 60mm were super sharp but the out of focus treatment was a bit busy and harsh. Neither were useable wide open. Same for my Tamron 90 in Nikon mount although it had great bokeh. But this lens is really sharp but maintains excellent bokeh as well and works for all settings in addition to macro. Many macros suffer when not used in macro. This one isn't that way. Some don't like the focus speed - but this is a byproduct of the long focus throw and is somewhat inevitable without increasing the bulk and weight. Some don't like the recessed filter threads and this is a bit of a rub at times. You can't use it with a reducer from a larger diameter without using some dummy extender rings. If not, when it retracts, it will jam that flange into the top of the lens and cause an error. Not sure if that causes damage. I haven't started fitting filters on this one yet.

My Goto for a Short Tele

Comments about Fujifilm 60mm f/2.4 XF Macro Lens:

This was the first lens I purchased after I switched to Fuji. Prior to DSLRs I lived with a Nikon FM2 and their 105mm f/2.5. I could never find an equivalent that satisfied me until this guy. The 90mm (35mm equivalent) view it provides has me as happy as I was. This lens is sharp in general and very sharp at macro. Some blogs and forums complain about the AF speed on this lens. I guess I got a good copy or just haven’t noticed in the two years I’ve used it (always best to update your Fuji firmware is what I have learned). It has been on an X-E1 and X-T10 and never failed to please me with its IQ. I would definitely recommend this as a good short telephoto if the 56mm f/1.4 (either version) is out of your budget’s comfort zone.

Fuji's 60 f2.4 not a lens to be overlooked

Comments about Fujifilm 60mm f/2.4 XF Macro Lens:

If you do some macro photography and also need a very good lens for portraits and landscapes this is a very flexible lens. It is light and has very good image quality, It does not focus as fast as newer Fuji lenses, but that is not a problem for most of my photography. The bokeh of this lens is surprisingly good at wider apertures. I use this lens along with my 14 f/2.8, 35 f/2, and the 55-200 f/3.5-4.8 on my Fuji X-T1. I like working with a light camera kit that travels well.

not bad but could be better

Comments about Fujifilm 60mm f/2.4 XF Macro Lens:

Haven't really put it to use in macro photography but will edit this review when I do, the main thing of importance to me in macro photography is magnification, this lens falls a little short with a magnification of only .5 at 10 inches (the closest focusing distance). I would have liked at least .75 and prefer 1.0 Manual focus (which I prefer) is slow ( you really have to turn the ring a lot) an tends to hunt a lot in auto focus.
On the plus side, it is quite sharp, has good color rendition and a nice bokeh when used (as I have more often) as a portrait lens

Comments about Fujifilm 60mm f/2.4 XF Macro Lens:

I generally use shorter lenses so I didn't want to spend a lot on a tele lens. So I jumped when I saw the sale that B&H was running on the 60mm. Also wanted it to be compact and lightweight to complete a basic 3-lens outfit for my X-Pro2 (wide, normal, and short tele) and the 60mm fits the bill. The autofocus with the X-Pro2 with this lens is quite satisfactory--maybe it wouldn't be so good on older bodies lacking phase-detection pixels but I haven't had the chance to try it on one of my older bodies. I haven't used the lens for macro shooting and I suppose that autofocusing in macro shooting might leave something to be desired.

Comments about Fujifilm 60mm f/2.4 XF Macro Lens:

I really want a full 1:1 macro lens for shooting macros on my xt1 but since Fuji doesn't show signs of developing one soon I purchased this one. I am pleasantly surprised. I read the reviews and was concerned about its ability to focus. However, I have gotten focus on a large percentage of my shoots and the images have been very sharp, even those when I didn't use a tripod. it does hunt a little on some shots where the background has some distractions and I couldn't achieve focus, even though I was within the distance in the specs. It would be nice to be able to get a little closer and fill the frame. It is solid construction and well made.

I haven't used it for any purpose other then macros, since I have the 56mm which is a phenomenonal lens for portraits. I purchased it during the recent instant rebates and believe I got my money's worth.

Comments about Fujifilm 60mm f/2.4 XF Macro Lens:

After using this lens for the past couple of weeks on wild flower macro pictures, landscapes, and a portrait session I am not very happy. Like most macro lenses you have to use manual focus. The lens has great bokeh with the 2.4 f-stop and photos are sharp. My problem comes when you use it as a medium telephoto for portraits or landscapes. The auto focus feature has a tendency to hunt for several seconds before settling on a point of focus. This is very frustrating in portrait sessions. Same happens when you go to multi focus points. I am contemplating returning this lens.
