As others have mentioned, this is a great accessory for your 7' Parabolic. An easy to transport and setup alternative to a soft box. Well worth the money. I use it with both the white and the silver umbrellas and liked it so much that I bought another.

Here's the trick to mounting it quickly and single-handedly. Do NOT try to mount it to a fully opened umbrella - that will require two people. Just take the closed umbrella and insert it through the hole in the diffuser, tip first, until the umbrella is completely inside the diffuser hole. With the umbrella pointed to the floor, reach through the hole and slowly start to open up the umbrella. As the umbrella opens, it will apply equal pressure to the elastic band and then you can right the umbrella and lock it in the open position and the diffuser will be taut and even. Then you can mount the umbrella shaft onto your light. No need for two people!

I bought this diffuser to put over my Westcott 7-foot parabolic umbrella. In fact I've been waiting anxiously for a long time for this diffuser to come out. Very nice quality of light and I knew I would love it. However, at the end of my first session, I found that the diffuser had a small melted hole in the fabric where it attaches to my Alien Bee 1600. It may have been user error, since it was my first time using it and there were no instructions included with the diffuser. I'm wondering if I'll have to purchase another diffuser because there could be a light leak. I might sew a piece of non-flammable white fabric over the hole which is only about 2 inches in diameter, to cover the light leak. I'm only going to use the modeling lamp for short durations to prevent this from happening again.I love the fact that this large diffuser folds up very small and it's light. The diffuser is held onto the perimeter of the Westcott 7-foot umbrella by elastic, which I'm guessing, means eventually the elastic will give out. It was easy to attach to the umbrella. To attach the diffuser to the light head, there is a drawstring. I've only used this diffuser one time so only time will tell how durable it is.The price is right too at about [$]. Some diffusers sell for 2-3 times more. Some are much, much more, for instance a Profoto diffuser for a 7 foot reflector is [$]

Comments about Westcott Umbrella Diffuser for Parabolic Umbrella:

I had two of the 7ft Parabolic umbrellas, one silver and one white. They put about amazing light, but I wanted this diffuser specifically for white background headshots. It worked perfectly as you can see (a picture of yours truly).

Comments about Westcott Umbrella Diffuser for Parabolic Umbrella:

Not much can be said. Fast and easy. My guess is since it's a slip-on style that even the slightest breeze could get underneath and cause problems. Then again, so will the 7' umbrella!

Comments about Westcott Umbrella Diffuser for Parabolic Umbrella:

Not much to say, really. It's a diffuser that's easy to slip on over the points of the umbrella. Goes on quickly. I'd imagine that a slight breeze could get underneath and cause you headaches. Then again, so would the 7' umbrella!

Comments about Westcott Umbrella Diffuser for Parabolic Umbrella:

I use the 7 foot parabolic Westcott umbrella with white interior and the diffuser in my studio as my go to SOFT light source. This combination gives me a beautiful soft light with a nice wrap around effect. Combined with a few well placed reflectors it is perfect for head shots and full body shots.

Comments about Westcott Umbrella Diffuser for Parabolic Umbrella:

Bought this to use on the Westcott 7' Parabolic Umbrella. Fits well, and seems even a little generous on the fit, so I think would accommodate any 7' umbrella, slightly elastic on the edge to create a good fit. I've found the easiest way to put on is to place the edges over the umbrella while it's partially closed, then open the umbrella while expanding the diffuser at the same time.

Comments about Westcott Umbrella Diffuser for Parabolic Umbrella:

For those of you struggling to set this up (citing the need for two people), here's the trick: DON'T attach it to the open umbrella. Close your umbrella and slide it (starting with the point) through the opening in the diffuser until it is completely past the opening. Point the umbrella toward the floor and reach through the diffuser opening with your other hand and open the umbrella fully. The umbrella will provide even tension against the elastic in the diffuser and when you lock the umbrella in the open position, the diffuser will be taut. Now just mount it on your light.

This diffuser is a great, inexpensive addition to an equally great, inexpensive modifier (the 7' parabolic). It would be nice if it came with a case, but a big ziplock will do fine. Highly recommended.

Comments about Westcott Umbrella Diffuser for Parabolic Umbrella:

I like it. Works very well diffusing the light coming from my white umbrella. Also works well with my other 7 ft silver umbrella from PCB. Nice secure fit on both umbrellas. The combo of this with the large 7ft umbrella gives you some incredibly soft shadow transition. A little cumbersome to set up at first but with some practice you get the hang of setting up this combo pretty quickly.

Comments about Westcott Umbrella Diffuser for Parabolic Umbrella:

Earlier I purchased the 3-umbrella special bundle from B&H (basically 3 for the price of 2!)
Working with them a bit, I wanted to be able to soften the silver reflector to approach the light from the white (for large groups).
This is an inexpensive addition to the parabolic, and makes the light very much like a Photek Softlighter (but HUGE :-)). It's incredibly easy to put on (elastic, and fits easily on the parabolic, with a port for the strobe/speedlight that can be tightened with a drawstring). Really glad I bought it - B&H, maybe you could consider bundling it with your 3-pack of Westcott parabolics?
It does not come with any kind of carry bag - so mine now resides in a (large) ziplock bag...
