First off, I LOVE the Quikbox Softbox Kit by Impact. I bought it after watching a Kelby Training video which featured the product called, "Light It. Shoot It. Retouch it – On a Budget with Hot Shoe Flash."Two things I learned the hard way about this product: 1. The circular bracket does NOT go into the hole in the back of the softbox. I was using it this way at the beginning which still works (though marginally) but the correct way is to install the circular bracket just outside the hole in the back. It'll pop in behind the four metal rounded ends. The instructions left me guessing on that and I'm sure I'm not the only one who scratched their head at that. 2. The bracket assembly is made of two parts: the circular part and the part that connects to the light stand. There's a screw on the side that tightens these two pieces together. Be CAREFUL not to torque on this screw too much when tightening the two pieces. I tightened too much and cracked the part that connects to the light stand (which is made of plastic). The plastic eventually split apart and I had to buy a new bracket assembly for $[$](which you can buy on this site).

I seriously deliberated the pros and cons over this item for a few days before deciding to return it. I bought it in the sale so it was outstanding value, but unfortunately a few issues I could not move past were my deciding factors to return and the reason I'm only giving it three stars.

The light stand is very flimsy and struggled to hold the weight of the softbox and umbrella bracket, let alone the additional weight of a speed light. I don't see how this stand would hold up to much activity in studio, or on location. Also, the softbox folded down was a big issue for me, and probably the main reason I return it. Its does fold flat, but its an awkward shape- like a big pizza slice. Portability is a big thing for me and I could not see how I would be able to pack this up easily with the rest of my kit.

Having said that, the light output is great. On test shots I found the light source to be very good, nice even light- two diffusers make this an excellent light source which is why (I suspect), it gets such great reviews and why I struggled with my decision. If you don't care too much about the shape, and have other more robust light stands, then it probably a good purchase.

Comments about Impact Quikbox Softbox Kit (24 x 24"):

The kit is amazing for its size. I take it with me on all of my shoots because it is lightweight and easy to setup. It produces a very even spread of lighting on subjects. Sometimes the second diffuser can be too much so you must make sure your flash is strong enough

Comments about Impact Quikbox Softbox Kit (24 x 24"):

bought this as my first soft box (using umbrellas till now) and am very pleased with the test shots I have been doing. sets up quick with minor fuss and seems like it will last a while.

      main concerns:
as others have stated the flash mount could have been a little bigger. With my Phottix ares RX and Lumopro LP180 it barely has room to center the flash head in the opening of the mount and this is screwing the ares to the 1/4x20 bolt with the cold shoe removed. others might not fit at all.

the main weak point I can see breaking is the flash mount right at the ring that locks into the box itself. if the box takes a bad tumble this seems to be were it will break. only time will tell how it holds up.

the umbrella holder they give you is decent, although not as polished as the others I own it seems like it will do the job and locks into position well enough.

the stand, well to quote David Hobby. "it opposes gravity." looks to be sturdy enough, and you can never have enough stands, right?

I bought this to use when traveling to locations, but I have found this to be just as useful in the studio as outside. It is light and portable and does a great job. And set-up time is fast. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone wanting to supplement their gear with good lighting. And the Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT strobes work great with this softbox. I have no complaints about this product.

This was my first soft box or lighting modifier I have purchased and I would do it all over again. The package comes with everything you need other than the hot shoe flash it's self. From what I can tell the light stand will last as long as it's treated properly. Your for sure getting your bang for your buck with this kit.

Just recently baught the Quickbox Soft Box Kit. I am very plaesed with the ease of setup and use. My Canon Speedlight fits nicely inside the holder. For the Money( It was on sale when I baught it) it will be great in the field and in the studio.
The one thing that I will need to keep an eye on is the strength of the mounting bracket to the light pole. This seems like the weakest point of the unit. I have not had any issues at all and do not plan to. I would not let this comment deter you from buying this unit

I was looking for a good softbox that could easily collapse and go on the road. I liked this one because I own other products by Impact. But honestly, I wasn't sure if this would meet my expectations. After using it several weeks now, I am very happy with my purchase. It is made from the same great materials as their other products. And it is light weight and easy to use. I shoot mostly portraits, and it does a great job dispersing the light without leaving hot spots on my subjects. The only thing someone might not care for is that this is a light duty unit. I am sure it could be damaged easily. But with care, I find it is durable and likely to last for years and years. I do recommend getting a sand bag for it, to avoid any mishaps or potential falls.

To me this a great product, especially for those on a budget. Purchased 2 of these for a great price withe the holiday sales. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of the hot shoe bracket that holds the soft box and speedlite. As it barely fits my speedlite and receiver. If they had made the bracket a 1/2 in longer is would fit any speedlite with any TTL receiver and have room to spare. Other than that the soft boxes are great. Over Christmas I used them indoor and outdoor and they were great. I think this is going to be my new go to kit for photography gear that I take with me, as they are very portable and fast to setup. When you first start opening and closing them they feel light they will bend or break, but I assure you. They will not. They are quite durable.

Comments about Impact Quikbox Softbox Kit (24 x 24"):

This is a fantastic product for those beginning to fiddle with light. It's lightweight, durable, and all of the parts needed arrive in one package.

The setup is troublesome at first because you have to connect the inner diffuser via hooks and that can take a great while. After that, attaching the outer diffuser is simple because it involves velcro. Attach the speed ring to the softbox, mount the speed ring to the umbrella bracket and you're good to go.

There's just one issue with the product: one of the reversible studs is too small for adequate use with the included umbrella bracket. It does not fit well in the bracket and in the speed ring mount. Therefore, you must go out and buy a better and longer one. I recommend the Manfrotto 013 Double-ended Spigot. It's cheap, durable, and made of high quality.

Also, to get more use out of the softbox, pick up the 24" x 24" grid to help limit and control the spill.

Comments about Impact Quikbox Softbox Kit (24 x 24"):

I have been holding off on purchasing any light modifiers because I typically shoot sports and nature. When I say B&H advertise this kit at a special price I just could not resist. First off, B&H delivery and service was outstanding as usual. Item arrived well packaged and quickly.

Hving never worked with setting up a light stand or softbox before I can truely say that this was simple. It tool me just a few minutes to get set up and my flash mounted to it. I didn't even read any of the instructions -- it was completely intuitive.

The box itself folds flat like a reflector and pops up to shape just by unfolding -- no rods to insert!

The stand and mounts all good quality. As you would expect extending the stand to the top height will require some sandbag weights at the base -- although it was pretty stable without.

The mounts are versatile enough so that I can mount my remote flash receiver under my flash and still have the flash line up with the opening.

Comments about Impact Quikbox Softbox Kit (24 x 24"):

The Impact Quikbox is an excellent product. As noted in other reviews the inner difuser is a little tricky but once installed it can be left in place so not a big deal, unless you want to remove it. The box is very sturdy, easy to attach the adapter ring and bracket which make the rig very stable. The light stand is a bit to light weight but will be useful for other tasks ( I already have a pair of Impact 9.5' stands that I like a lot). The umbrella bracket I found to be to weak, again useful for other thing. I may seem to be negative on the last 2 items and I don't mean to be, they are very good, just to light weight for me, however when you consider the price of this kit it's a great bargain, hence the 5 stars. Also the flash shoe mount is also made very well and will come in handy.

The softbox is easy to assemble, but adding the inner diffuser was a pain. The little clips were difficult to keep open while trying to hook them on the small elastic loops that are attached to the softbox itself. The outer diffuser went on just fine and the mount was a quick install as well. I gave it four stars because of the four clips. They should just be four hooks. It would have made it much easier to install and uninstall. The stand is nice too. I read many reviews saying that the air-cushioning effect was no good. Maybe it is a little ratchety, but to me, that's better then damaging my lights and other attached equipment. I will say...I wish that it was the 13' stand. The umbrella bracket is nice too. Not much to say...it's an umbrella bracket. It works perfectly. All in all, I was impressed with the light output. The soft shadows were just what I was looking for, and I really love the seclusion of light from a softbox vs a shoot-thru umbrella. But I must say, each has it's own place in light.
