This is the third set that I've bought, and I, and the friends I have set this up for, have been pretty happy with how this has helped to extend wifi into the corners of their homes. It was pretty easy to set up and get going. Just two caveats: 1) test at different sockets in your house to extend it to where you need a signal. In my house we have a mix of new and old wiring to a circuit box and a socket on one side of the wall didn't work, but another did and 2) be sure you don't accidentally hit the buttons as they can turn certain functions off. I spent about 5 minutes figuring this out, but it may be frustrating for a person who's had less experience and patience handling these types of devices. But once I got it set up and going, it's been smooth going since!

Was not as easy to set up as advertised. Needed to call user support to have them walk me through security setup between the two units. But they were able to do that relatively quickly. Once it was up in running it extended my home network to other parts of house which didn't have any coverage. When roaming my house with my computer or iPad, transition from main access point to new access point is not seemless. I often have to turn wireless off on computer/iPad and turn it back on when I'm around the new access point (and visa versa) to get the best connection. Its a little annoying but as long as I'm in one area for a period of time it not a lot to do to continue to get a very good wireless coverage.

I would not buy this product again

Comments about Linksys Powerline AV Wireless Network Extender Kit:

Purchased this Linksys Powerline AV wireless network extender kit to cover some weak areas in my home wireless network. Setup kit as instructions. Had to try several time to install the Linksys Powerline AV Utility on my Windows 10 Pro laptop. When I finally got it installed the utility would never show any devices. The devices were online and working. I connected to the PLW400 in the room where my signal is always weak. I ran a speed test and the speed was always less than 1mbs. Before I installed the extender my speed in that room was 10mbs. Everything I researched and tried would not improve on this 1mbs. In the end I just disconnected the PLW400, threw it in the box and forgot about using it.

Comments about Linksys Powerline AV Wireless Network Extender Kit:

I have a metal building detached from my house. The building has a 60 AMP panel that is fed from the main power going to the house. My shop is about 40 yards from the main. The wireless from the house would not work inside of the shop; after setting up this system I have perfect fast wireless inside of my shop. Very pleased!

Comments about Linksys Powerline AV Wireless Network Extender Kit:

This thing made an end to years of weak signals and unreliable feeble wireless range extenders (various Netgear devices). It gives a stronger faster signal which covers at least half the house while the router signal covers the other half. If additional extenders are needed they do not require the maddeningly slow and unreliable daisy-chaining that wireless range extenders do. This device makes wireless range extenders as obsolete as the telegraph.

Comments about Linksys Powerline AV Wireless Network Extender Kit:

Had this thing up and running in less than 2 minutes. Linksys has a program called "Linksys Powerline utility" that you plug in to your computer and you can set you SSID and security right there. I plug the unit into my router and the other unit in to an outlet upstairs and within a minute I had 25Mbps downloading in places I never had signal in before.

Comments about Linksys Powerline AV Wireless Network Extender Kit:

Needed better wi-fi signal downstairs from router. Don't have the best internet to begin with, and with multiple users we were running into download & connection issues. This was a reasonably priced work-around. Only complaint is that it took a bit of research to figure out the correct set-up. You can set it up so that you don't broadcast the SSID, as well as tweak other areas of security, so entire home network is secure (even if SSID is broadcast). The req's don't indicate that you need to plug into the same circuit, I found that out in the (limited) directions. I couldn't plug into the same circuit and it is working though. Everyone is happy!

Comments about Linksys Powerline AV Wireless Network Extender Kit:

In a four-story house, our only Internet outlet in the house is on floor two. And our TV is on floor four. We have a wireless router, but from the fourth floor, the signal could get pretty spotty, and would often result in breaks in streaming for re-buffering. Installing this was way easy, took only about 20 minutes (most of it just waiting for the devices to boot and find the wireless), and increased our signal strength by more than 6-times! My only knock would be that the Powerline created a new wireless connection, rather than simply extending my existing one, so, when upstairs, I have to change connections, and when downstairs, change back. Pretty easy on my Mac, not sure about PC. BOTTOM-LINE: Well worth it if you're having wifi connection issues anywhere in your house.

Comments about Linksys Powerline AV Wireless Network Extender Kit:

I've only had it a couple weeks in my home, used with a Linksys 2500 wireless router. The setup instructions are poorly done so this product may be difficult for a novice to install but the Linksys web site does have more extensive details easily available. It works well so far except our power went on and off a few times in a minute or two due to an accident on a street nearby. Once the power was restored, I had to do the setup again from scratch because the two components were no longer communicating. I'm hoping that won't always be the case.

I received the normal prompt shipping, received it on time as I normally do from B&H. The setup from Linksys (Cisco) was easy. The Powerline AV wireless works great, watched Netflix on an Ipad in an area I was not able to before. Great!
