I bought this to take landscape photos of course. I'm still new to photography and just recently bought into the lee filter systems. So I wanted to try the graduated soft ND filter. I used it the same day I bought it in the midday noon sun to see what it will do. Impressed with the results so far. I uploaded a pic I took with it and the Lee 105mm polarizer only.

I like using this Grad ND filter, but I found that out in the wilderness it gets dirty easily and is hard to clean and easy to scratch. The photos looked great so I don't know how much real impact there is, but it is definitely a challenge to keep it clean. I'm wondering why resin is the material used here. Also nudging the filter up and down, it is really easy to hit the focus ring. Overall though, it does what it is supposed to do and is quite subtle, but adds a lot of drama to the sky. It is not too heavy or bulky for backpacking with a DSLR.

Comments about LEE Filters 100 x 150mm 0.9 Soft-Edge Graduated Neutral Density Filter:

What can I say. It is a Lee. If you have used them, you know there arent many brands better. Not for the price. Yes there are better ones out there, and they are made of Schott glass, but they are also easily broken and over twice the price. For me and my travel landscape photography, Lee is the best choice for me.

Just got this so the only reason it is a 4 is that I have only used it once so far. And it was incredible. I own a less expensive version from a different manufacturer and the difference was astounding. Pure colors without tint. Slowly building my filter kit, LEE all the way.

Filter delivers great image quality, with no color distortion on the dark part (common in other brands). If you are considering graduated filters, this is one of the bests benefit/cost options.
0.9 soft-edge is the filter I use the most.

Some people hate the grad filters, some love them. For me they are a tool. I use them in camerea to bring the overal exposure into what my camera can actually deal with. Darken the sky or water to get a more balanced raw files safes a lot of time in post.
While shooting try to find a straight line where you can allign the grad level properly

Comments about LEE Filters 100 x 150mm 0.9 Soft-Edge Graduated Neutral Density Filter:

Larger size with perfect soft gradation works very well for landscapes. Very solid filter that can be hand held easily or placed in a filter holder. Optical perfection is found with this filter and feel confident with the results when using it in the field.
Like the results of gradation on landscapes epecially with lakes and reflections, or other photo possibilities that the camera sensor does not work well on.
The 0.9 Soft-Edge is the Graduated Neutral Density Filter that I use the most.

I plan on acquiring the set, but figured I'd start with this one. Really helps with challenging exposure situations. I prefer getting it as close to right as possible in camera as opposed to trying to correct exposure in post. This filter might just be my new best friend.

It does exactly what you need it to do. Great construction. You can hold it in front of the lens instead of using a holding system and spending another $100+ on it. The only complaint I have is that Lee should put the filter in a hard case instead of a pouch.

The product worked as advertised, though the difference was not as extreme as I imagined it would be.

I chose this setup instead of a fixed diameter filter for interchangeability and the ability to reposition the gradient higher or lower on the lens, which allows the user to choose how high or low they want the "horizon line."

Comments about LEE Filters 100 x 150mm 0.9 Soft-Edge Graduated Neutral Density Filter:

I have used many graduated neutral density filters over the years but I find the Lee filters are the best for my work. The filters are well made, easy to use, consistent in quality and design. The soft grad like this 0.9 filter are excellent for land and sea scape images especially at sunrise or sunset images. I find the 3-stop reduction often to be spot on for the type of images that I create. The filters are also easy to clean, handle and durable. For me, I have found that I have greater exposure control by using the filter versus post process manipulation and saves me time in the long run.
