BH Photos shopping was a great experienceWhat a great lens. Yes a manual one, but not difficult to master or use.Focus on 5 feet and open at f/8 -and that is it. Get great photos. An aperture of f/8-11 should do it. Use f/16 if the light is great. f/5.6 should be tried as well. Lower f/ values may give a soft focus that may be helpful for portraits.Very well made. Feels solid.I got it about a week ago, but I have already taken 8 photos and 7 are super good. The first one was a user error.Good focus. WIDE angle of view -about 170 degrees.I got this lens for my self to take "fun photos", but I will use it for much more.It can't be beat for a photo in a confined space. Yes, it is a "fisheye lens" and hence the object distortion. But I knew that. I took indoor photos that I was unable to take with my Canon 10-22 mm lens.I am glad I bought this lens and not the Canon one that sells for $ .I would suggest this lens for anyone who is looking for a fisheye lens.

This lens yielded some great results for me, however it's build quality is subpar. The lens mount is screwed into one little plastic ring which is screwed into another plastic ring. 2 of the screws stripped and some of the plastic broke so the whole fitting is loose now. There are also some internal flaring issues especially if using a camera-mounted flash.

This is a great fisheye and perfect for milky way and star trail photography. A little bit of a learning curve to use it, but nothing difficult. Very impressed with the build quality. Very solid little lens.

Fun & Artsy Lens

Comments about Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 HD Fisheye Lens with Removable Hood for Canon:

I'm just learning to know what a fisheye can do, getting artsy fun shots (http://yourshot.nationalgeographic.com/photos/9809495/) and trying landscape shots here and there. Using full format, I remove the hood. The cover is just fine, does the job. I am very glad I bought it.

Love the product! Build quality is very nice! It's just a tab bit hard to tell if the picture is in focus but other than that this should be a lens every beginner photographer should have. The focus ring is smooth!

Usually us L glass but didn't want to spend much for a fisheye that I will not use often. IQ on this lens is decent particularly given the price and it is a breeze to use.

Something bad this lens is the bokeh, is really bad and looks busy.

I recommend the lens. Superb depth of field, reasonable price, easy operation, and great clarity. I have been quite pleased with the resolution (sharpness) when I print large 11"x14" photos. Easy to use even though it is a manual focus lens.

Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 HD Fisheye With Removable Hood For Canon

Comments about Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 HD Fisheye Lens with Removable Hood for Canon:

An excellent buy for the price and a solid lens in all aspects. Very good clarity and the focus/aperture adjustments are very smooth. Very nicely constructed for a lens in this price range. For a basic fisheye this is a great buy that provides excellent results and spectacular depth of field. Remember that this is a fully manual lens but still very easy to use. This is a really fun lens to experiment with and use in very tight locations.

Good Lens, but not Perfect.

Comments about Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 HD Fisheye Lens with Removable Hood for Canon:

Bought this lens on sale so I can't really complain.

Things I like about it? Cool effect, solid, seems well made. My understanding is that this lens is made by Samyang and branded under many names so they are all basically the same. Didn't think I'd like the manual focus, but I actually don't mind it. Set it and forget! Very useful in darker situations as autofocus could struggle in low light. Expect to use a tripod in darker situations, just not fast enough and with the lens wide open not all that sharp. I use it with a Canon T2i

Things I don't like. I think the focus ring could be off. Setting to 1.5 metres looks sharper than infinity. 1.2 ft looks shaper at 1 ft than the 1ft setting. I think the best setting for this lens is f8 @1.5m You can leave it an forget. Anything closer than arms length will have to adjust. Some slight chromatic aberration.

My Canon 10-22 is a better performer, but for the price this lens is worth it. Fun to play with.

Interesting Lens to use

Comments about Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 HD Fisheye Lens with Removable Hood for Canon:

I got this lens as a B&H "Deal of the Day" for a remarkable price. Shipping was fast, as usual. I have a Canon 7D Mkii camera. Obviously, this is not a lens to use for most images, but it is fun to experiment.

Because it is a manual focus lens, I experimented with it's depth of field at various aperture settings.
I have decided to only use this lens at f/8 for outdoor use and f/5.6 for indoor use. I use the camera in Manual (M) mode with Auto ISO. I have used black electrical tape to "hold" the focal distance on my lens at a setting which gives sharp focus from infinity to 12 inches. This makes the use of this lens much faster and easier for me.

Comments about Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 HD Fisheye Lens with Removable Hood for Canon:

Is a manual lens, I use it mainly in video, and few photos do their work well, is light and has good results, in fullframe makes a vignette that in most cases is not bad, for the price is a very good purchase

I use this lens for most of my outdoor shots

Comments about Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 HD Fisheye Lens with Removable Hood for Canon:

I have not had this lens long, but really enjoy it.
The good:  build quality is solid with smooth action on the focus  and aperture rings; close focus capability allows you to get in very close to a subject; perspective is fantastic; good color and contrast rendition; lens flare reasonably well controlled;outstanding value for the price.
The not so good:  heavy chromatic aberration at the edges; not sharp throughout the frame.
I have found myself mounting this lens every time I go out.  A lot of emphasis on fisheye lens use goes toward capturing the entire scene or wide angle for that landscape.  I however, love to use the lens in close and capture those crazy perspectives you can achieve with a fisheye.  I also have a 10mm lens that i have left in my bag since I have had this lens.  As for the issues I mentioned above, the chromatic aberration is not so noticeable unless you are pixel peeping or heavily cropping. The flare shows up only when I shoot high contrast bright scenes directly at the light source.  Actually for a lens of this type the flare is fairly well controlled.  It is at least as good as my Tamron 10-24 zoom if not a little better.
To sum it up you cannot get a better lens anywhere for the money.

Nice Lens - Not for Rookies

I like the lens - It's on a cannon Rebel body so nothing works by itself. Totally manual. If you grew up with film it should not be too hard to use.
