I bought my second MC-30A remote about a year ago, after my original unit failed in LESS than a year! Used lightly, but now like the first, its has developed a short, seems where the wire connects to the unit. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Its now useless. I guess you don't always get what you pay for?

A little hard to hook up to D810. But seems to work fine.

Nikon MC-30 remote cable shutter release

By Jm

Verified Buyer

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

I bought this (my second one) to use with camera mounted on a tripod (as John Gerlach and common sense would advise). Like all Nikon products (I admit to bias, having used Nikon since having to give up my Minolta XE-7), this works very well, indeed. It fits beautifully and does what it is meant to do. Several improvements since my early one (bought when D300 came out and was purchased): the line-up marker is now nicely white, easily seen, and the locking collar has been enlarged, making it much easier to screw tight for security. I am very happy with this remote cable release and with BHPhoto's service; both are gratefully acknowledged.

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

The durable construction leads me to believe it should hold up well. I feel that is a little expensive but that could be said for many Nikon products.

A must for macro...

By K. Moett

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

Bought this for use with my D200 (yes, still using it, still a great camera), in conjunction with its mirror-up function for macro photography. Just can't believe it took me this long to finally get this and begin using it. Works great.

Plain, simple, and reliable trigger.

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

A real nice remote trigger. Never had any problems with these Nikon triggers until I loose them in the field. The off brands have never lasted long for me - pins that bend and bad connections.

A Long Lens Help

By Jeff, The Nature Lover

from San Fernando Valley (Los Angels), CA

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

I use the MC-30A Remote Trigger Release when shooting virtually anything with any lens on a tripod. Obviously, this reduces camera movement.

A major improvement over previous iterations is the enlarged size of the screw-in wheel. It is now much easier to attach and detach

I works beautifully and I have received a few photographic awards and acceptances in juried exhibits due , in part, because of the sharpness of the photographs. Obviously the lens and tripod play a big role too!

I like the larger wheel to screw it into the camera receptacle. In addition, it works flawlessly.

Solid piece from Nikon

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

Solid Nikon piece. I've used it only a couple of times. I have and will mainly use it for night time northern light and milky way photos. I like the cord length. I like how well the trigger fits in my hand. Fits sort of like a fighter pilots joystick. It has a large button trigger. Also has a easy to find trigger lock. I would recommend to a friend. I use this on my Nikon D810

Required accessory

By Laurence

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

A remote release is a required accessory for photographers. There will be times where nothing else will work. This is the cheaper of the two possibilities and if you don't need total control over your camera this works well.

Nikon MC 30A remote release

By Stan

from Undisclosed

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

I am a two million shot pro who studied with Ansel Adams--I guarantee you the part of your camera that is most likely to fail is the remote release--I think I have tried them all, and the savings you may get from a cheaper release doesn't began to compensate you for the risk you are taking by using a cheap release--with the Nikon you know it is going to work for a long, long time

Simple way to remote shutter release

By Aerokats

from Mathews, VA

Verified Buyer

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

This is a simple, relatively inexpensive way to get a remote shutter release. Operates the same as your shutter-release button on the camera body, without any other fancy gizmos (except it does have a locking feature), but it reduces the possibility of camera shake from trigger release. I use it on a D500. There are other, cheaper remote releases, but this one has "Nikon" on it and I trust Nikon. Ordered it from B&H and it arrived when they said it would.

Reliable and simple

By Joe

from Sackets Harbor, NY

Verified Buyer

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

No bells and whistles, no fancy settings. It's not wireless and won't do anything other than trip the shutter. Considering every other trigger (I own them all) seems to only work occasionally, I love this basic NIKON one! IT HAS NEVER FAILED ME in 8 yrs. I just bought a new one because the old one has some slight wire fraying at the 10 pin connection. The new one is better built.

Just What I Wanted, A Little Expensive.

By Bill

from Illinois

Verified Buyer

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

I wanted a wired shutter release that did not need batteries, and had a screw-in plug so it wouldn't fall out. This is the only one I could find that met this criteria. Simple push button operation, with a lock for bulb or multiple exposures. Because it is a Nikon accessory, it costs probably 2-3 times as much as an equivalent off-brand device. It works well though, and as long as it keeps working, I'll forgive the higher price.

I use a trigger release with all my tripod mounted shots. The MC-30A is easy to attach to my D500 and easy to use. It is great for vibration free photos, especially at night.

Good but expensive product

By Jerry

from Amherst, MA

Verified Buyer

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

I needed a trigger release for my old D300 camera recently converted for infrared photography. The MC-30A is built solidly and works quite well. I downgraded it to 4 instead of 5 stars just because it's much more expensive than similar products from other manufacturers. Unfortunately, I had to purchase the Nikon unit because I was unable to find a substitute for this particular item.

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

The release works well but after a year of use it stopped working for no apparent reason. Fortunately, I had a back-up so I highly recommend that you carry a spare.
