I'm a pro photographer using both the Canon 5D MkIII and Canon 7D professionally, and the Rebel T3i for travel/vacations. I recently purchased this lens because I wanted more reach than I could get with my Canon EF 24-105L. As soon as I got this lens, I put it to a very simple test: how well would it render a small, tabletop subject shot hand-held? I think the attached image speaks for itself. I set up a couple of strobes with reflectors for this test, and mounted it on my 7D. The image is sharp and the colors true with good contrast. I was very pleased with this result. The image stabilization performed well, too.Next, I shot a wedding with this lens on my 7D and the 24-105L on my 5D3. I was very impressed at how well the images shot with this lens compared with the far more expensive L-glass.In short, this lens is a great value for the money, and I look forward to using it a great deal more in the future, both for paid and personal use.

I bought this lens as a kit with a 7D Mark II and I originally liked the lens, but after shooting with it for a while I began to notice the autofocus (AF) would jump around to find the focus of a subject, it happened at every distance from macro to infinity focus.

Even in broad daylight for landscape photos, the AF would not lock on accurately and my photos would come out slightly out of focus, just enough to make the image look blurry. Even on manual focus, I would lock on the focus, take a picture and it would look fine, BUT when I took another photo, the image would be out of focus completely, without even touching the lens.

The only good things about this lens is the image stabilization, it has worked flawlessly without a problem and has always worked in every situation.

Image quality is pretty good when AF works and is locked on, but without fine focusing it, this lens is useless.

The STM system Canon has developed is not up to par to USM in the L series and wish they will make all of their lenses USM based and not STM.

Comments about Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:

Used this lens while on vacation and was not disappointed. I used this lens at the beach at one of the parks in Tampa Fl. And at the space center, the varying focal lengths 18-135 fit my needs at these places, was able to get pictures close up and off in the distance. I keep it on my camera all the time now.

Comments about Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:

It's a great all around lens, wide enough to shoot at a person in your group and will do a fairly good job getting a distant object close. I'm attaching a pic where the bokeh turned out nicely.

Comments about Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:

Bought this lens recently as my Canon 15-85 efs lens got a scratch on its surface.
      Thought of 18-200, 24-105 , 24-70 as well as 85mm& 135mm lenses.
Chose this as it gave a reasonable wide angle as well as moderate telephoto to accomodate most of photography needs on a general family outing as well as on a mountain, beach or a sports vacation.
Regarding the ease of operation it is very easy to operate and has a very good picture quality.
All in all a boon for amature as well as semiprofessional photographer to carry as a first to go lens.
regarding handling of my order by B&H photo, it was excellent.
I would recommend both the lens as well as B& H Photo.
      Thank you.

Comments about Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:

I went through multiple reviews before I purchased this lens & happy it's worth to buy. I would definitely recommend folks who are looking for one lense that can cover both indoor and outdoor. The only side effect is its little bulky but that's obvious because it can cover from 18 mm to 135mm.

Comments about Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:

This lens replaces the 18-55mm IS II lens that came with my T3i, and I immediately saw an improvement in picture quality. The extra range is nice as well. The 18-135mm STM lens does not have a rotating front element, allowing me to use a circular polarizing filter much more easily than my previous lens. This is obviously larger than the 18-55mm IS II lens, but still small and light enough that I do not have any issues taking it on a day hike. It also compliments my 10-18mm STM lens nicely.

I do see some distortion at certain focal lengths and in certain conditions, but nothing that can't be corrected easily in Lightroom so far. I also wish this lens came with a hood given the price.

I purchased this as part of the 7D Mark II package. It was a great price and so far has provided some excellent images. I usually shot the Canon 18mm - 200mm but found this lens to offer much of the same power and it is lighter to carry all day.

Comments about Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:

I bought this lens for use on a C100 and 60D and it has been great so far. Works very well with C100 when using auto focus- it is quick and quiet. Image quality is pretty good for a low dollar lens. This is not a very heavy duty lens nor is it very intuitive when manually focusing, but it excels at doing what I need it to.

The only negative on this lens is the focus ring. It feels a little loose when turned to focus. I expected more resistence. Took some getting used to.

Comments about Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:

This is a good all-purpose lens with a large zoom range. Focus is fast and silent which is great for video work. Only negative comment is that the lens produces some chromatic aberration (purple fringing) especially in the corners at the wide end of the zoom. It's hard to find a zoom lens in this price range that doesn't have some amount of color distortion but it is easy enough to correct in Lightroom.
