Not a panasonic fan

Comments about Panasonic AG-AF100A Digital Cinema Camcorder:

After buying two panasonics, I can clearly state that Panasonic products are not up the par with Sony and especially Canon, some parts seem cheap and ciustomer support is HORRIBLE.

Comments about Panasonic AG-AF100A Digital Cinema Camcorder:

I've been a Digital Filmmaker for close to twenty years. I have had the good fortune to have worked with a lot of cameras. The 100 is my all time favorite. Closest video image to film I have seen in a camera at this price.

Comments about Panasonic AG-AF100A Digital Cinema Camcorder:

First thing first. I gave this camera a 5 star rating because even though it is horrible in low light, Its images are very rich filmic. Just go to Vimeo and compare the af100a's footage to its competitors. It won't take long before you can tell the difference. Albeit a lot moreI would recommend, instead of buying a micro 4/3 adaptor, invest your dollars on a couple of Panasonic's better lenses that include i/s and a/f. I tried the Canon EF Lens to Micro Four Thirds T Smart Adapter by Metabones, and found that although the aperture control works fine, the auto focus is terrible.

Note: I was in the market for a good indie camera and I'm amazed at how good this little thing works. I strongly recommend Barry Green's Af100 dvd and a must with this camera.

      Awesome

      By Hayzens productions

Comments about Panasonic AG-AF100A Digital Cinema Camcorder:

This camera is solid. I have 2 gh3 cameras as well. The af100a has a crisp image with more detail than tue gh3. The added nd filters and xlr bring the professional feel back. Color grading the avchd footage still has a lot of information and latitude. Im getting the samuri blade to record uncompressed 8 bit. The over crank to 60fps is great. In my opinion the image is just as good as the fs700 at half the price. If you want 240fps or 4k you need the fs700. I would not even consider the c100 as it does not have hdsdi only hdmi.

Comments about Panasonic AG-AF100A Digital Cinema Camcorder:

Built in ND filters. Similar chip to GH2 and GH3. Increasingly large option of relatively low-priced lenses. Panasonic should bring this camera back! And come out with and update with a larger chip!

Comments about Panasonic AG-AF100A Digital Cinema Camcorder:

Another Panasonic hit. Its a little ergonomically awkward due to the width on the camera since you can't really hold it by hand easily. But It has some good options and features and that makes up for it. There are some good interface things, like the playback mode allows you to preview clips through HDMI easy and quick. It would be nice if there were more settings on the rotating presets on the front switch since some appear too dark, others blown out in day lighting. The camera outputs 1080i 29.97 through the HDMI, so if you are trying to capture the format you shot it in, I received a conflict error until I figured that one out with tech suppport from AJA. Camera has a little softer look than I would like, but that may be because of film mode, ad I have not tried the video mode yet. Its images are incredible compared to SD, and I am going to have a lot of fun with it. The audio features are impressive compared to a SLR type camera. Everything is adjustable on it for settings so have the manual handy to figure out which menu path you will need to do what you want to do. I liked how you can have an adjustable tally light to turn the front indicator off but a back one on, or even off altogether. The adjustable interval recording is fun too. Have lots of batteries on hand when you go out for a shoot. Multiple user setups are easily accessible. Lots of pro features on a relatively inexpensive camera. Lens control from the camera would be a great plus, but its not designed for fancy zooming in or out... its a better camera for setup stills. My next accessories for it will be a K5 Konovo slider or a Kessler Pocket Jib Traveller. Yeah, and a external microphone for on - camera.
