How I use the product? Amateur photographer
Things that are great about it? Allows me to take remote control of a Nikon D5100 wirelessly without pointing the transmitter at the camera. for group shots that include me. Includes a little storage bag.
Things that aren't great about it? Documentation was poorly presented. Very small fonts. Few illustrations. Needlessly confusing. Nikon obviously wanted to cram as many languages as possible on a single sheet of paper. Not much warning about how easy it is to insert the device in the socket in the camera in the wrong orientation and damage the socket. LOOK FOR THE BLACK ARROW!
This device was designed to be used with the Nikon transmitter, NIWRT10.
I am no expert, but apparently there may be third party wireless devices on the market that perform the same function that are less expensive. I did not want to take the gamble.

The product works. I just contend that a D500 with an SB 5000 should not need it. I made a poor decision to buy the sb5000 without understanding the the need for this adapter. The flash was too expensive and the need for the two adapters is really bad on Nikons part.
Buy a 910 instead.

Works fine with a Nikon D810

Comments about Nikon WR-R10 Wireless Remote Controller:

Use with the WR-T10 transmitter. Only trips the shutter and operates the Fn function on the D810. Does not communicate with the SB-5000 Speedlights and the D810. Nikon please provide a firmware upgrade for the D810 to allow the D810 to communicate with the SB-5000 Speedlights through the WR-R10.

Comments about Nikon WR-R10 Wireless Remote Controller:

I have tried other tethered and wireless remotes and they did not meet my requirements. Range and or line of sight issues were limiting usage. This product along with the WR-T10 shutter release solves both issues.

Comments about Nikon WR-R10 Wireless Remote Controller:

These WR-R10's of course allow you to remotely activate your Nikon cameras. But think of the possibilities...sneak a camera into areas at a church where the official would not normally wish to see a photographer! This could be discreetly placed behind the altar, neatly camouflaged, to get wedding shots that are not normally taken. Good range, easy to use.

Use it at weddings for behind-the-couple shots from the minister's point-of-view. Gives a unique perspective without being intrusive. Absolutely essential in my opinion.
