Mostly Great, so far

Comments about Sony E PZ 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Lens:

So far I have done only one shoot - at a education function in a gymnasium. When unboxing the lens, it appeared so large compared to the two kit lenses that came with the Sony A6000 that I thought I had picked the wrong lens. It is relatively big and heavy. The supplied rectangular sun hood makes it seem even larger. However, it fit the camera body and seemed to work in my few test shots. So take it to the gym. It has a powered zoom, with three zoom speeds (labelled H, M, S, but seeming like slow, slower, and glacial). This is actually a good thing if you are shooting video, since fast zooms are kinda jarring. You can turn it off, and just grab the zoom ring and crank it yourself if you are setting still shots. Autofocus worked great most of the time, fast and sharp. Once or twice it wandered off, but those shots were very low contrast so this is not a surprise. Steady shot worked very well in longer exposures. The hood doesn't cause noticeable vignetting in wide angle. So over all I would say it's a pretty great lens and it is certainly convenient to have one lens that does it all. If you don't need the power zoom, you can save a couple hundred bucks on the other lens with the manual zoom but the same f-stop and zoom range.

Awesome lens.

Comments about Sony E PZ 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Lens:

This lens is really amazing. I got it to replace my Sony 18 to 105 because I wanted to have control over the speed of the zoom. The zoom speed on the 18 to 105 is Really fast and is 2 to 3 times faster than the zoom speed on the 18-200. I honestly wish the fastest zoom setting was a little bit faster. But the lens is sharp and the image stabilization is amazing. You can hand hold at 200. The auto focus is slightly slower than the 18 to 105 but still works really well.

Great multi-purpose lens

Comments about Sony E PZ 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Lens:

Large diameter collects more light making this a good lens for low light shooting. I have used it both on my full frame A7 as well as my APS VG30.
Nice focal range, smooth operation and virtually silent motor makes it ideal for videographers as well as still shooters.
Good solid feel but that big servo motor means it's not the lightest lens in the bag.
As good as many primes in its price range.

It's an awesome lens, my only comment is that when using the stock flash on the Sony a6000, it casts a shadow on pictures taken indoors.

Comments about Sony E PZ 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Lens:

I've been using this lens with my FS-100 (and more recently FS7) for a while. It's my go-to for handheld "don't know what's going to happen next" shots because it can roll with just about any situation. It has so many things going for it. Image stabilization is strong, AF is decent, the zoom range is huge, and the image is consistently sharp. It's also par focal, except while zooming, when it will go soft momentarily before settling. The zoom servo also works well with the FS7's variable hand grip. Here's the bottom line:

If this lens were a constant f/f2.8, it would be the ultimate miracle lens. I'd be willing to pay four times as much for a faster constant aperture version.

But, as it is, the slow and ramping aperture is a major drag.

Easy to mount, quiet motor, sharp images - a quality lens, but oh so slow to zoom. What was Sony thinking? Still, overall, it's a keeper.

Comments about Sony E PZ 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Lens:

I purchased this lens to extend the focal range of my Sony NEX-6 that I originally purchased with an 11-18 mm ultrawide angle lens. I tried out the lens under some of the worst conditions in an interior museum gallery with no windows and no supplemental lighting and no tripod. The lens was still able to autofocus even with an ISO setting of 12,800. The motorized zoom was virtually silent although a bit slower than I expected. My other issue with the lens was it was significantly heavier than using my Panasonic FZ150 24X Superzoom and after using the Sony lens for two hours in a "target rich" museum setting my shoulders and upper arms became quite sore.

Use for commercials, documentary and interviews on my Sony FS-700. Sharp and great focal length range. Not very fast but great all in one. For low light situations I use an Metabones speed booster adapter with Nikon prime lens. All together a perfect kit that covers all my needs in terms of lens. Sharper and better color and geometrical corrected than expected.

I'm so sad that when I've got Sony FS-700 almost a year ago I was not able to get it with this lens, and take it with regular 18-200mm Kit Lens...
I wish only about TWICE faster speed for fast zooming mode in this lens! Current "fast zooming mode" is not fast enough...

Comments about Sony E PZ 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Lens:

I have used this lens both for still and video NEX cameras. The most recent use was for July 4th fireworks photography. This is a high resolution lens, although the Sony manual zoom lens of the same focal length appears to have at least as high a resolution, and is less expensive. The lens appears to be made solidly. However, it is heavy compared to the NEX video camera bodies. It takes some practice to learn balancing the video camera in hand, because it becomes front-heavy upon attaching the lens. Also it takes some practice to reach the wide-tele switch, which is in an unusual place compared with standard consumer camcorders. Also I found no advantage over the manual 18-200 zoom when using on NEX-7 or NEX-5 still camera bodies.

Comments about Sony E PZ 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Lens:

I got the NEX-7 plus the Zeiss 24mm in Jan 2012, and have been using both a lot since [as a supplement my Canon DSLR gear]. I have been very pleased with both for both stills and video - low light performance is especially impressive. At family/sporting events, however, an NEX with a superzoom is much more practical than a DSLR and/or juggling primes, which means you will capture moments (in remarkably sharp detail) that you would otherwise miss, which is the name of the game. The smooth/slow powered zoom Sony's 18-200 PZ OSS is in fact a very significant and helpful addition to the 18-200 design if you want to shoot smooth/artistic video, as getting a uniform slow zoom by hand is otherwise somewhat difficult (if you want/need fast zoom for certain action sports, just click the PZ feature off and zoom the lens by hand). In short, an NEX + the 18-200 PZ setup works quite well for both HD video and 24MP stills (that can be blown up to 16x20 prints with compelling detail) in a very wide range of practical situations that demand smallish gear. Highly recommended.

Comments about Sony E PZ 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Lens:

Well over all it is good lens, but with FS100 once you pass 150mm zoom then AF can easily be fooled specially if have brighter background, so can't really rely on AF, otherwise its a good lens.
