I think Sony's main shortfall is their seeming inability to properly advertise and promote their products. Case in point: The Cyber-Shot Accessory Kit. This is a great charger. It works with multiple batteries through a series of hinges plastic bits. Though that's a bit off-putting, it holds my battery securly for charging. It has clear LEDs that indicate how much the battery has charged, when it is done, or if it has malfunctioned. Connects directly to 110 with a swinging hideaway plug or by means of an included USB cable. The charger seems expensive, but it's not, as it includes on spare battery. If this had been more clearly described or promoted, I would have purchased it before buying a spare battery.

It works is the best I can say. Considering it is powering-up batteries for the RX-100, a very small compact design, this thing is exactly what I hate about Sony: they fall down on the small stuff, the details that matter to consumers. The bulk of this thing with an unnecessary line cord is as big as the camera...due to it being universal to several batteries. For the price of a RX-100 III (or much more for a IV) one should get a decent battery charger (and a manual) for that matter). The battery is small but the charger is incredibly clunky. I'll bet there is an aftermarket unit that is much smaller and less money.

A must if you are travelling.

Comments about Sony Battery and Charger Kit with NP-BX1 Battery:

A must if you are travelling. It's vital if you want an extra charged battery with you at all times. Charging through the camera is so inconvenient. You can't use the camera while charging the battery via the camera! The Sony battery holds its charge through more shots than a knock-off.

The unit is as big as my camera. Bad design. I have a Canon charger that is half the size for a bigger better battery

Works for Sony Batteries

Comments about Sony Battery and Charger Kit with NP-BX1 Battery:

Yes, it works for Sony batteries, and covers quite a few of them. That is rather nice. That is the only advantage this charger has. Where it fails:

-Universal design means no battery really fits right in it.
-Very bulky design.
-Can only run on AC outlet, not on USB or Cigarette lighter.
-AC plug folds out so this covers multiple outlets when plugged in.
-Works well only with Sony batteries and not aftermarket batteries.
-Can only power the USB output plug OR charge a battery, not both (so you cannot charge in the the camera and a second battery at the same time.
-Cannot charge Sony NP-FW50 batteries for the alpha a7 and a6000 series cameras (owners of this camera are likely to have those as well.)

What it does right:

-Has a 3-segment indicator where the charge is at.
-Charges low and slow for extending battery life.
-Charges more than just one battery type (because Sony changes battery design for just about every camera!)

Good quality battery and charger. The charger can either charge a battery or power the USB port, not both. There's a switch, so make sure you configure it correctly before walking away.

Comments about Sony Battery and Charger Kit with NP-BX1 Battery:

I bought this item as it wasn't much more for the combination of battery and charger as it was just for the battery. The charger is not of the best Sony design as this battery does not precisely fit the charger - there is some play. You have to be somewhat careful when installing the battery to be charged or it might not connect properly to charge the battery. I do like having the progressive battery charge status indicator lights.

You can be sure you are buying a legitimate product

Comments about Sony Battery and Charger Kit with NP-BX1 Battery:

It's Sony. The main reason to buy something like this from a reputable seller like B&H is to have absolute certainty that the charger you are buying is legitimate. There are countless counterfeits out there that look almost exactly the same. It is better to buy from a third party 'known' brand like Watson for example... than to risk buying from a retailer that cannot guarantee the authenticity of the chargers.

I gave this charger 4 stars because it could have been much smaller if they hadn't made universal with 2, 3 other battery types. If you want to carry this in your small pouch together with your point and shoot, it will hardly fit, that's if it fits at all. Other that that minus the charger works as intended and chargers the batteries relatively quickly. The piece of mind that you are charging your batteries (especially lithium) with a legitimate proper charger is the main reason to buy this.

I would recommend anyone with a Sony RX100 to buy this.

Comments about Sony Battery and Charger Kit with NP-BX1 Battery:

I bought this extra battery to use with my Sony RX 100 Mark III. It was always an effort to charge the one battery that I had inside the camera. As many have had this same problem when the battery goes dead, you're stuck having to charge it via the wall charger inside the camera. By purchasing the extra battery with the charger I now can have one battery ready to replace the other one when it goes dead immediately.

Many times I'd be out taking photographs and have to cut my journey short because I didn't have another battery, but now I do. When I ordered the battery and the charger from B&H Photo I expected it to take a few days to get here. Much to my surprise it was here the next day! Talk about fast delivery service. Further I watched many videos on YouTube about people that had bought batteries from overseas and didn't get the original battery. Many of these batteries went dead earlier than they should have and some didn't work after a few months.

One thing I like about buying from B&H photo is you know you're going to get the OEM product and not have to worry about copies. Thank you B&H!!!

Comments about Sony Battery and Charger Kit with NP-BX1 Battery:

Nice portable universal Sony charger. AC prongs folds in. Includes a NP-BX1 battery & case. Charges X, G , N, D, T, R and K Sony batteries. Also includes a USB outlet and cable to charge a battery through your camera directly. You have to choose between charging a battery in the charger or via the USB outlet, but not both at the same time. Would have been nice if it could.

Does the job, but could be smaller

By Warrenc

Comments about Sony Battery and Charger Kit with NP-BX1 Battery:

Good bargain for the price. Battery charger is larger than it needs to be for the NP-BX1.(likely due to its being usable for several different batteries). The instructions were confusing on placement of the NP-BX1 into the charger.. Even though the written instructions correctly correspond to the drawing, the drawing actually represents the charger upside down so what is referred to as the left side of the charger is really the right side if the word Sony on the front is right-side up. Unfortunately, the drawings are not revealing enough to actually see how the battery sits in the charger. Once you figure this out, everything works as it should.

Useful, but I needed another as the first one died

By Ronald

Comments about Sony Battery and Charger Kit with NP-BX1 Battery:

Really a better way to get your battery charged than using the USB port and your computer. However, these chargers are not very reliable. I purchased 2 last year, along with their batteries, because my Sony camera does a great job taking pictures, but eats batteries. So, you really need an extra battery or two in your pocket, and if you just use the phone/usb port setup to charge the battery in the phone you wont be able to charge multiple batteries overnight. Good product, but you need two to make sure one works.

Comments about Sony Battery and Charger Kit with NP-BX1 Battery:

Plugs directly into wall outlet, prongs fold on back. Charges battery quicker than in camera. Charges various Sony battery types. I only wish it had the added ability to connect to USB on laptop or car when A/C not available.
