I bought this to replace my old Canon xTi which had served me well. My biggest concern was whether there was enough of an improvement to justify getting a new one. After a month of use I can definitely say there was. I use the camera with a Tamron 18-270 zoom and mostly do nature (animal) shots, sunsets and landscapes. For animal photos the 5 frame per second continuous shooting rate is superb. I've already taken some stunning shots of birds in flight. Its ability to create the proper ambience for sunset pictures turns ordinary sunsets into spectacular ones. And the ultra high ISO speed capability means you can always stop the action if you need to. I haven't yet even shot any video and hardly ever use the fancy LCD screen except for info on my camera settings. If you use the viewfinder the battery life is just fine. The 388 page instruction manual is a bit intimidating and I have had to go back and read some sections a couple of times. But, all in all I'm quite pleased with my purchase.

This camera has a lot of trouble with the automatic focus lenses I use. I find it a problem having to focus manually when there is a lot going on. Hopefully, there is still more to learn about using it in the situations that need auto focus. Otherwise, this camera will be a great dissappointment.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera (Body Only):

The reason I'm on my 4th Canon Rebel over 25 years is because the Rebel is simple and easy to use while giving professional results. I now keep two Rebels working at the same time, one with the basic wide-angle lens and another with my 75 to 300 mm telephoto lens. I'm always ready for the bird that flies in or the group fun!

This is my second T5i and I use both for DSLR video almost exclusively. It's compact and does a phenomenal job. I've done tests next to a 5D and really can't tell much difference. They do need a bit of light but that's not really an issue. All in all, GREAT product, GREAT video ... especially for the price.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera (Body Only):

Got this camera for my wife as her first dslr. All of the rebel cameras are good DSLRs to learn on,but this one is built a little tougher than some of the previous models. The touch screen is nice for checking focus on pictures quickly. I also like how the dial for the movie mode is on the on/off dial.

I am just a family photographer, but this camera is a dream. The T5i is replacing an older model Canon, I could no longer see through my viewfinder, so this was bought mainly for the "live view" feature. Very easy to use and learn new features. I have dealt with B&H in the past, and I am very satisfied with them. They bought my old camera and I had my new one the day after I ordered it.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera (Body Only):

I bought this to upgrade from my XSi. It's a good camera and the ability to make movies is great.

There are 3 problems with the camera though. The LCD display you see at the bottom of the viewfinder is dim. It's half as bright as the XSi, and if the sun is to your side or back, you can't see the camera settings. I'm going to buy an eye cup to see if that help. I wear glasses, so we'll see.

Also, the buttons on the back are smaller than on the SXi, so it's harder to find them by touch and to see them. They are also almost flush to the body, so they are hard to find by touch and even hard to push when looking at them.

Bought this camera for my son, who will use it for its video capacity. Since he's still learning, I figured this is a great entry-level camera, rather than shelling out $1000+ for a higher end camera. When he gets to that point, I'll just turn over my Markll to him, and I'll be gettin' the upgrade!! And you can be assured that purchase will be made thru B&H....Always the BEST!!!

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera (Body Only):

I have several Canon cameras and I purchase others because of my favorable experience. I added the T5i to combine the quality of an SLR with the articulating screen and Live View. Based on previous experience I was looking for a spot focus option which I use frequently on my 5d Mk II. It took a while but I learned about viewing the subject on the Live Screen view and then touching the screen where you want to focus. The camera then takes over, focuses, and automatically takes the picture. It took some getting used to but it's a feature I enjoy. I'm still reading the manual and learing but I'm more than satisfied with the quality of the pictures. While reading reviews the major complaint seemed to be short batter life. Haven't had that expereince but I bought an extra battery to have on hand.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera (Body Only):

Purchased for adult daughter to be used for general use, family photos, etc... When combined with the 50 f1.8 is a very light, portable and wonderful setup for many situations. Relatively cheap and accepts all canon mount lenses. Built in flash handy but also accepts external units. Has every thing from fully automatic to fully manual modes..... Shoots Raw files as well as multiple sized pegs. Video is excellent and entire setup is very capable. The files are great straight out of the camera, but as with all DSLRs require a little tweaking to print. Battery life good and controls convenient. I personally prefer the 1D or gripped size bodies, but for smaller hands the size and feel/balance of the camera is excellent.

For a photographer starting out, this is a great camera to go with. For me, it was a chance to have a second camera and upgrade a little from my T2i. I've taken over 30,000 pictures with the T5i since I've purchased it and captured some incredible images. There are plent of features built in, and gives new photogs the ability to shoot in manual or automatic modes. The tilt out screen has been great too.
