Comments about Tokina 12-28mm f/4.0 AT-X Pro APS-C Lens for Canon:

I owned a 18-35 similar to this one for 16 years and when the autofocus died and is not able to be fixed I had to upgrade. I find that is works well, with a fast and quiet focus. It's heavy but as a traveler and mountain climber it's always on my chest getting banged around so heavy appears stronger. The last lens was fabulous so I think this one will be even better.

Comments about Tokina 12-28mm f/4.0 AT-X Pro APS-C Lens for Canon:

I bought this to replace my Tokina 12-24 which for some reason broke when I tripped and fell with it. ;-) I've been very happy with this lens so far! Seems very well built, the auto focus is good, and I haven't had a big problem with chromatic aberration that some people have mentioned.

Comments about Tokina 12-28mm f/4.0 AT-X Pro APS-C Lens for Canon:

First let me say I am not in love with shooting wide angle lenses, I prefer a 50mm +, with the 135mm being my favorite focal length. With that said, wide lenses are necessary sometimes and can even be fun to shoot in the right setting. I'm a sucker for sunsets and this lens is the only one I'd bring with me when shooting a sunset, it's sharp and plenty wide at 12mm and zoomed into 28mm you begin to lose that "wide" look. Speaking of which, the edges of the frame are obviously stretched a tad since it's a wide angle lens, but less than I'd expected when I purchased. I have shot this lens inside at a wedding and outside on a sunny day and it's sharp across the board. I was impressed with the sharpness at f/4 and compared to a (Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8) shooting at F/4, the 12-28mm seemed brighter in fact, but equally as sharp. I am happy with the construction, it feels sturdy in hand but not too heavy that you can't carry the thing around. Auto focus is a little slow but at this price range, who can complain about that? Not to mention the AF is accurate and that's what I really need in a lens. Framed out (12mm) at F/8 with the focus just shy of all the way to infinity, I find nearly the entire frame is crisp and in focus which is great for landscapes and real estate, which, if these are your purposes, I would definitely recommend this lens. If you're relying on the AF to get quick, upclose shots, say, at a wedding for example, you may need to search for a faster motor.

Comments about Tokina 12-28mm f/4.0 AT-X Pro APS-C Lens for Canon:

This lens has been great so far. The range is great and photos have been sharp. For the price this is a great lens. The weight is also appropriate. Without going up to the higher priced cannon lenses this is a great purchase.

Comments about Tokina 12-28mm f/4.0 AT-X Pro APS-C Lens for Canon:

I've used both the Tokina 11-16 and this Tokina 12-28. I have to say that losing the stop of light and 1mm of range doesn't hurt. The ability to go from an ultra-wide 12mm to a near-regular 23mm (acts like a 35mm on a crop lens) is perfect for automotive photography, shooting in a smaller room, and even astrophotography.

The build feels incredibly sturdy and solid, with the AF/MF ring providing a comforting snap back and forth.

Sharpness from side to side and very minimal vignetting and distorion make this a 5/5 for me.

Comments about Tokina 12-28mm f/4.0 AT-X Pro APS-C Lens for Canon:

I'm not a pro, I'll start with that to temper the remarks appropriately.

I am loving this lens, I haven't even used my 50mm at all since buying it, it's been that fun. I mostly shoot outdoors, landscapes, taking it on hikes etc.

I had originally purchased the 11-16mm but the range was too restrictive, so I opted for this to get a little more usefulness out of it. I am very impressed with the pictures that I've taken with it (and others love them as well which is a good sign!).

Comments about Tokina 12-28mm f/4.0 AT-X Pro APS-C Lens for Canon:

This is the first glass I bought to use with my Canon T2i. I purchased my camera about a year ago with the kit lens (18-55 and 55-250). I wanted to get a wide angle and try out shooting landscapes with it (which I haven't done yet). Anyway, this glass seems durable and well-constructed. It's a bit heavier than what I expected but that's because of it's many elements...which is a good thing. I've used this glass in a recent friend's wedding and reception afterwards. Lighting was really poor during that occasion and weddings are probably one of the hardest occasion to shoot. Afterwards, I posted the pictures on my Facebook page and tagged some of the people I know. Lo and behold, all of them liked the pics. I've never had so many compliments on the pictures I've taken before prior to this incident. In fact, the groom asked me for a copy of the pictures I took during his wedding and said that they were "beautiful and wonderful."
The only thing that I don't like so much about the glass is that it feels like scratching when I'm mounting it onto my Canon camera body. Maybe I just need to get used to it. Other than that, this lens is exceptional!
