The first one of these I got was included in a package deal with the waist sling. I used the waist sling right off, and didn't get around to putting this hand strap on until a couple of weeks later, but as soon as I did, I liked it.
Haven't used the waist thing since the first time, but now this hand strap is permanantely attached to my camera, and I even ordered another one for my other camera.
I'm pretty much a "sniper".... tons of handheld shots with a large (80-400) lens, and although it's not nirvana, it does provide some significant support to my hand while I'm trying to hold the camera up and balance everything. To me, it just feels good around my hand. The one thought that kept coming back to me, though, again & again, was that the connecting straps weren't positioned right. The whole thing sat too far forward and didn't allow the freedom of mevement I needed to run the shutter button and dials on my Nikons. I kept thinking of how I could modify or make my own that would sit right on my hand.
The second one I bought, though was a new design that instead of being basically a square pad, was more ergonomically designed, and appears to be more friendly with freedom of finger movement for the controls, but honestly, I haven't used it enough yet to see how it feels as far as where it sits on the back of my hand. Initial impressions are that it will be at least as good as the older style, and probably much better. For the price, I wouldn't let that question stop me from buying another one. I have four SLR's, and having one of these on every one of them wouldn't be out of the question.
As an added note, When taking time photos with the camera on a tripod, or other situations, these straps really don't seem to be in the way. I also have quick connect rings on these cameras so I can attach a strap when needed. Never noticed any inconvenience to the way I use my cameras, even with the extra hardware.

this is a great accessory of you don't like using a neck strap. you will need to take more care but it gives you a nice tight grip on the body of your camera. I found I had to shift how I was hitting the shutter release but that was fairly easy to get used to. You may find this a more difficult adjustment to make to your grip etc. It did not come with instructions and the website offered ambiguous instructions, which was a bit of a drag although it is fairly straightforward to install. there was a one part left over that I'm not sure how to use. A metal key ring type thing which makes me slightly uneasy.
I'm still getting used to it but am I'm happy with it and I think it will become a standard part of my rig over time.

Does the trick.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap:

Compared to other hand straps this cotton carrier is inexpensive and has the added benefit of velcro adjustment. It may seem a small thing, but when you're shooting and you need to make some adjustments, this is important. The other hand straps you have to mess around feeding the strap in and out to get the right fit, which is never right. Velcro is the way to go on hand straps and this one doesn't break the bank. Been using this for years and have one on both cameras.

OK Quality

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap:

This is an inexpensive fabric strap that comes with the Cotton Carrier System Harness. Not very comfortable over a long period of time, as its not very soft. Mine had a sharp piece of melted plastic where they heated the thread ends at the bottom. O-Ring for security strap is way too big, needs to be about 3/8", not 5/8".

I returned it and bought a leather one of much better quality.

it's great to have a easy transition from handheld to tripod support so, this hand strap is perfect when you want to do this transition hassle-free as, the handstrap plate is fully compatible with Arca-Swiss/RRS heads.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap:

This product is outstanding in its ability to allow a heavy camera to be held securely while taking photos or carrying. It allows the camera to be held securely with a relaxed grip and eliminateds fatigue on long shoots. You won't regret getting one.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap:

I wanted an easy transition from hand-held shooting to tripod shooting and viceversa. While this hand strap is not the best, it still provides reasonable confort when shooting hand-held and when you want to attached the camera to your tripod head (compatible with RRS), you don't need to add anything else. Just tight it in place and go.

I found that adjustment is fine even when the head is positioning 90 degrees sideway.

I've tried several straps and I like this one the best. Soft but not cumbersome or in the way. Just right. Works with your Cotten carrier as well.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap:

This helps to keep a good grip on my camera whether it is slung on my side with a shoulder strap or when I am taking a shot. My hand is much more relaxed than when I am not using it and I now have a cotton Carrier Hand Strap on every camera I own.

Great Idea and Comfortable Handstrap

By Mixed Blessings

Comments about Cotton Carrier Hand Strap:

I purchased one of these to try on a heavier dslr because I use Arca Swiss style tripod heads and I do not want to keep buying expensive plates for my cameras. It works very well and I will be ordering more. The strap feels comfortable in my hand and on my tripod I can hold the camera by the strap to make adjustments. Why has this not been thought of before?

I was tired of the cumbersome strap and ordered this to see how it would work. It installed easily and provides a secure, comfortable grip. And, when going vertical, it makes it oh so easy. I coupled this with the Wanderer Side Holster for an all around solution.
