Sleek and Stylish Design

The first thing you’ll notice about the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 10.1” Tablet is how similar it looks to its predecessor, the ASUS Transformer Prime 10.1” Tablet. It still has a volume rocker and power button on the top, as well as a microSD card slot, reset button, micro-HDMI port and 3.5mm combo audio jack on the left side. Both tablets have a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and an 8-megapixel autofocus back camera with LED flash. The bottom of the tablet also still has a 40-pin connector port for charging the battery and for connecting to a PC for syncing data. It also comes in two different colors, Amethyst Gray and Champagne Gold. While the similarities are obvious, there is one major difference…

1920 x 1200 Native Resolution

Behold! There is now a 1920 x 1200 native resolution on an Android tablet. While you may think 1920 x 1200 (bigger than 1080p) is a little excessive for a 10.1” LED-backlit screen, it instantly becomes justified when you start navigating the menus, surfing the web, watching Full HD 1080p videos and especially when reading text in crisp, clear quality. The 178° viewing angle is also impressive. This allows several people to view content on the TF700 tablet without losing too much image quality due to off-center viewing.

Since tablets are built for portability and travel, the high-res screen is stronger with improved scratch resistance, thanks to its second generation Corning Gorilla Glass 2. This strong, scratch-resistant glass helps ensure that your ASUS TF700 tablet doesn’t end up with unnecessary marks on its beautiful Full HD display.

Super IPS+

If you’ve ever used a tablet outside in direct sunlight, then you know the pains of trying to see past the glare. This is why ASUS added a Super IPS+ mode to the TF700 tablet. When turned on, Super IPS+ bumps up the TF700’s brightness to a staggering 600nits. The ultra bright backlight makes it easy to read or view content, even outdoors in direct sunlight. Super IPS+ takes full advantage of the LED backlighting and IPS panel.

SonicMaster

Full HD 1080p content would be less impressive if the sound quality wasn’t on par. Thankfully, the ASUS TF700 features SonicMaster technology. While the integrated speaker has sufficient volume, the sound quality is not exceptionally rich. But that’s to be expected since this could be said for all tablets. Also, the speaker is on the back, so if the TF700 is placed on a table face up, the sound will be muffled. SonicMaster really shines when you plug in a pair of good headphones into the 3.5mm audio jack. You’ll have a more immersive cinematic experience while watching an HD movie. Your music will also sound much better using headphones than listening through the integrated speaker.

The TF700 doesn’t have “Transformer” in its name without a good reason: it can be combined with an optional ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 Keyboard Docking Station. The ASUS TF700 Keyboard Docking Station “transforms” the ASUS TF700 tablet into a netbook. It has a docking latch to hold the TF700 securely in place in landscape mode, and the chiclet-style keyboard makes typing much easier while the multi-touch touchpad makes navigating the menus a breeze. There is also a regular sized USB 2.0 port and a regular sized Secure Digital card slot for added connectivity. The 40-pin connector port on the left connects to the ASUS TF700 for both syncing and providing additional power, thanks to the keyboard docking station’s own 19.5Wh battery. When combined, the TF700 and the keyboard docking station provide up to 14 hours of battery life so you can stay mobile for a longer period of time. You can also use the TF201 keyboard docking station with the ASUS TF700 tablet if you happen to have one.

Quad-Core nVIDIA Tegra 3 Performance

The ASUS TF700 is powered by a 1.6 GHz nVIDIA Tegra 3 mobile processor, which utilizes its quad cores to provide fast, reliable multitasking for demanding tasks such as video editing and HD gaming. There is also a fifth energy-saving core in the Tegra 3 processor that handles less demanding tasks to save battery life. The nVIDIA Tegra 3 processor also has a built-in ultra-low power (ULP) nVIDIA GeForce graphics processing unit (GPU), which takes full advantage of the 1920 x 1200 resolution display with 10-finger multi-touch support. You can also output to an external HDTV using the micro-HDMI port, but you’ll have to purchase a micro-HDMI to HDMI cable separately in order to do so.

Memory and Storage

ASUS added 1GB of RAM to this tablet so that the nVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor has sufficient system memory to run smoothly and efficiently. The ASUS TF700 comes with one of two hard drive storage sizes: 32GB and 64GB. You can also expand the storage space with a microSD memory card (or a regular sized SD card when using the available keyboard docking station) if needed.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS

Thanks to the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, the ASUS TF700 features a redefined interface with on-time notifications, personalized home screens, resizable widgets and deep customization. A new voice-input feature, great photo features, better calendar tools and more, are available in Ice Cream Sandwich but were not included in previous builds of Android (we’re looking at you, Honeycomb). There are thousands of games and apps at your disposal at the Google Play Market. From Twitter to Netflix to Angry Birds, you’ll be able to find the right apps for you.

Connectivity

The ASUS TF700 can connect to various wireless networks with 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity. While most networks are secure (a WEP password is usually required), it can also connect to free public wireless networks with ease. Unfortunately, there are not yet 3G models of the ASUS TF700 available, so if you need to access the Internet while on the move or when Wi-Fi is not available, you may need to purchase a different tablet. However, if you’re going to use this tablet around the house or in the office, then the ASUS TF700 is a great fit. It also has Bluetooth 3.0+HS so you can stream music and connect to your favorite peripherals without having to deal with cables.

ASUS Raises the Bar for Android Tablets

ASUS has really set the standard for Android tablets everywhere with the TF700. The high-res display is the most impressive feature of the TF700 with its 178° wide viewing angle, scratch-resistant Corning Glass 2, Full HD 1080p video playback and 1920 x 1200 native resolution. The quad-core nVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 1GB of RAM and 12-core ULP graphics makes multitasking smooth and seamless. While its lack of 3G connectivity prevents it from being an all-around tablet, the TF700 really shines in its price range. If you’re in the market for a top-of-the-line Android tablet with a high-res screen, a quad-core processor and the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, the ASUS TF700 is a great choice.

I bought my wife an Asus TF700 for Christmas and she loves it. However recently the free videos she was watching now ask for AT&T subscription. What has changed?
Also your site does not refer to the TF700, but the Infinity. Are we talking about the same product?
What key board should i buy for this product?

Jim

Hi Jim -

The full name of this product is the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700.  So they are one and the same device.  The ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 Keyboard Docking Station (Amethyst Gray)  is for use with the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 tablet. This chiclet-style keyboard features access to a real, physical QWERTY keyboard and a multi-touch touchpad. In addition to the physical keyboard, the dock provides a USB 2.0 port and a Secure Digital (SD) media card reader for sharing and storage on the go.

As far as AT&T goes there must be an app you are using that is requiring a subscription that has expired.  Carefully check the apps you are currently using and determine which ones may have expired. Another possibility may be that you have exceeded the amount of downloads allotted under your AT&T service agreement via W-Fi if AT&T is your internet provider.  In that case - please consult AT&T for  the remedy.

Hi, I have purchased a TF700T and while it looks great, I cannot work out how to sync it with my PC so I can download books & PDF files etc onto the tablet. I have not yet received a response from ASUS support on this.

Could you please advise as to what I must do in order to actually start using this lovely piece of equipment and be able to access it from my PC.

Further, after recognising it once, it seems my PC (Toshiba laptop) does not recognise the Tablet anymore.

Finally, on top of that, it goes into sleep mode after a very short time. Mind you, given I can't do much with it, waking it up is probably not necessary.

If you can assist me to get going on this it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks and cheers

First you would need to install the Asus Pad PC Suite. Once that is done, you would follow the directions on page 73 of the manual to start the sync. See the section on Webstorage for information on how to login, and transfer files. You can also transfer files with a MicroSD card. Directions, and images on how to insert, and remove a card can be found on page 11 of the manual.

For sleep, you would access the device settings, and click on Display. From there click Sleep, and you will be able to select a time up to 10 minutes.

adding to it 3G and 4G connectivity will make still better as these will be needed in the future. I will make it a complete tablet

never considered the docking station. battery lasts for 2 days with sporadic usage after work until bedtime.
we have added:

the square deal 2 year drops and spills warranty

ZAGG invisibleSHIELD for Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T (Screen) (ASUTF700TS)

Bobjgear Heavy Duty Case for ASUS Transformer Infinity TF700 - BobjGear protective cover.

SanDisk Ultra 64 GB MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card with Adapter

we very pleased with the unit and hope to have a long trouble free working life with this transformer infinity tablet.

We hope to find a messenger bag for transportation at a later date.

youtube video is crisp, recipe pages are very clear, but it lags when multiple browsers (google chrome and the standard browser app) have multpile tabs open while research and comparing information.

luv my new transformer, but cant get internet access. i get wifi from my laptop, but can't get to a website. any suggestions?

Hello Cindy:

Make sure that after start-up you have activated Wi-Fi on your tablet from the set-up menu and you have entered the network password for your network:

1. Go to Settings
2. Go to "Wireless & Networks"
3. Click on "Wi-Fi"
4.  Click "ON"

Love the asus t700 with ones catch, I can't pay video that requires flash player. Android doesn't support it so I can't even download it. Other that the t700 is great!

After purchasing one TF700 for my wife, we got one for me as well. I will say, the dock is what makes this device great. The speed and weight on this thing are amazing.

However, beware of the manufacturing flaws with ASUS installed glass. There are numerous documented cases of Nexus 7 and the TF700 having issues with randomly broken glass.

I would not have believed it myself, except it happened to my wife. She NEVER dropped the device, never sat something on it. It literally cracked from closing the dock then opening it back up one time.

So my advice would be to get the square trade warranty (or something similar) on this. ASUS has shown time and time again that they will refuse warranty work on defective screens (but has given in if you are really persistent occasionally).

Same thing happened to mine. After less than 2 months of use, I just opened the pad from the dock and a crack right across the screen showed up. Sent my unit for warranty service and they said that it was customer induced-damage and went even as far as saying that the device was already opened.

The sides of the tablet were a bit loose and I even included that in the complaint, their tech guy was so arrogant that he even stated that he is the last person who gives the decision and he's the dead end for my case. Talk about VIP treatment. PSH.

Now I have to pay $200.00 for a new digitizer for replacing the broken glass that was the cause of shoddy manufacturing.

I love my new asus tf700.
One thing not mentioned here that might be of intrest for gamers is that i u have the dock u can connect a xbox controller.Say if you want to use it on one of the many emulators.,
But the battery is subpar, 9,5 hours is a dream u wil never reach. And the sound is good, but very, very badly placed. They are stereo but with only one speaker located on one side...
And there is a construction error in the casing. Never lift it in the top left corner. Do it often enuff and the screen will crack, especially if its in the dock. And that prob is void warranty as asus knows this and says only to lift it by the bottom.
So get one and be rly carefulwith it.
It is awesome though.

im using my asus pad, i do like he features, but there is one thing that i dont like in it. they said the battery will last up to 9.5 hours, but according of my usage its just up to 5hours only. is there something wrong of my new purchased asus? i got this few weeks ago..

That is based on if you are using the docking keyboard which gives you another 4.5hrs of battery life. Mine without the docking keyboard gives me about 4-5hrs.

9.5 hours is the maximum time the tablet will last on a single charge. According to Asus’ website, that time was determined by playing conditions: Play 720p movie + Brightness@100nits + External microphone + Wi-Fi turned on and logged in to gmail. Using additional features like GPS, or certain types of video files can greatly reduce battery life per charge.

Just got this kit last week and i'm in love. This tablet is just amazing. The optional keyboard is a must and acts as a screen protector. I carry it everywhere I go and use it instead of my laptop most of the time. The camera is great and captures great footage. (another reason to have the keyboard is it acts as a nice stand for your camera). No lag anywhere.

They didn't have the "infinity" keyboard model in stock, but the "Prime" version is identical and has the same color.

I love the look on peoples face when you just pull the tablet out of the keyboard and hand it to them.

Cons: - When you hold the tablet in landscape mode your right hand can cover the speaker.
- the back of the tablet gets dirty easily with your fingers

I highly recommend this tablet. No regrets here.
