Show me a business without a copy machine and I'll show you a seven-year-old kid with a lemonade stand. And despite the prediction that computers will do away with the need for paper copies, the opposite seems to be overwhelmingly true. That being the case, Konica Minolta has introduced a new lineup of laser printers designed to address a variety of office-based needs.
The most basic of the bunch is the Konica Minolta bizhub 20P black-and-white laser printer, a compact (14.6 x 15.1 x 9.7") black-and-white laser printer that can output up to 32 pages per minute. The bizhub 20P has a quick 18-second startup time and can output your first print in as little a 8.5-seconds onto a variety of paper sizes including Letter (8.5 x 11") and Legal (8.5 x 14") at up to 1200 x 1200 dpi.
The bizhub 20P comes with a 250-sheet paper cassette, a 50-sheet multipurpose cassette, and there's an 800-sheet cassette available as an add-on option. A single toner cartridge contains enough toner to print approximately 8000 pages of text in your choice of single or double-sided printing.
To maximize usefulness in the office, the Konica Minolta bizhub 20P offers a choice of USB 2.0, IEEE1284 Parallel, or wired Ethernet, and to facilitate interfacing with other devices within the system, the bizhub 20P emulates PostScript 3 and PCL6.
The Konica Minolta bizhub 20 contains all of the attributes of the above-mentioned Konica Minolta bizhub 20P, but adds color scanning, copying, along with Super G3, Internet and PC Fax capability into the mix. Depending on your needs, the bizhub 20 can copy and output in a choice of three quality modes: Auto, Text and Photo.
Other features found on the Konica Minolta bizhub 20 include collating, multi-page creation, two-sided duplexing, booklet, binding offset, scaling, fit to paper, enlarging and reducing 25-400% in 1% increments, reverse printing, watermarking, header-footer, secure print, macro function, density adjustment, a toner-saver mode and status monitor.
If your office print output needs are in the neighborhood of 120,000 pages per month, the Konica Minolta magicolor 4750DN laser printer is worth a closer look. The magicolor 4750DN, which is equipped with a wired gigabit Ethernet connection for secure use with multiple network stations, is capable of producing high-quality color and black-and-white copies at speeds of up to 31 pages per minute following a warmup time of just 12.9 seconds.
The standard paper tray on the Konica Minolta magicolor 4750DN can handle up to 250 pages of plain paper, which can be expanded with the addition of an optional tray that holds up to 500 additional pages. The 4750DN also comes with a 100-page multi-purpose tray that can handle thicker media such as coated papers, card stock and envelopes up to 110 lb / 210 gsm, and you can expect to print approximately 6,000 pages before having to replace the 4750DN's high-capacity toner cartridges.
The Konica Minolta magicolor 4750DN laser printer supports printer emulators including PostScript 3, XOS 1.0, PCL 6 among others, along with 137 resident PostScript and 80 PCL fonts for creating brochures, renderings and other graphic-art applications.
