Tascam Announces the Professional CD-6010 Rackmount CD Player

While most music today is consumed via personal players using mp3 files, there is still a need for a professional CD player that is suitable for broadcast, studio or touring applications. Tascam has stepped up to the plate with the CD-6010, a rackmountable CD player with balanced analog and professional digital connectivity, and all the specialized features required in these applications.

Based on the company’s highly reliable CD-5010B transport, the player can be connected to various remote control options (including wireless) for flash start, plus RS-232C and parallel connections for computer-based control. Analog output is available via balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA phono connectors, and digital output is available in both AES/EBU and S/PDIF formats.

Twenty points of cue memory can be programmed for instant access to any track, including points anywhere within a track. Additionally, twenty tracks of flash start can be loaded into memory for quick playback. A ten-key front panel pad provides quick punch-in of track numbers where no remote is available. And a built-in monitor speaker allows for simple monitoring backstage or in the control room.

Finally, for broadcast use, fader start and “End of Message” features are implemented, and fade-in and fade-out can be set up without the need of a console. Pitch control allows for adjusting playback speed for use in health clubs, or for transcription purposes. Program memory supports up to 100 discs, and multiple units can be set up to automatically provide uninterrupted playback.

All of these features are packaged in a rugged, two-rack space enclosure with a built-in universal power supply that can be installed in any standard equipment rack for studio, touring use, or used freestanding. Either way, the CD-6010 delivers ease of use along with Tascam’s time-tested reliability, something that will provide longevity in the most demanding situations.
