Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD MACRO Lens
07/30/2014In the following video, Larry Becker presents the Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Di II VC PZD Macro Lens, and covers its versatility, optical qualities, and performance-related attributes. The video begins with a rundown of the lens' design as well as its ability to produce a 1:2.9 maximum magnification ratio despite its expansive zoom range. From here, the video touches on the Piezo Drive AF motor, and its near-silent and fast performance, as well as the Vibration Compensation system. Finally, Becker gives a few first impressions of the lens and how it performed during his tests. We hope you enjoy the video, and invite you to view the wide selection of other instructional and informative videos at B&H.com.

Would a zoom like this be able to also handle an extender when necessary? ... and if so, please recommend one. (for Canon)
Thanks.
Christine
Hi, I am wondering can I use this TAMRON 16-300mm lens on a Nikon D850??
Thank You in advance.
Yes, this lens can be used on the Nikon D850 however the camera will operate in crop mode. Crop mode will educe resolution by a little less than half, and there will be an 1.5x crop in the angle of view. The Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD Lens for Nikon would be the more appropriate full frame version of the lens.
hola.. el lente es compatible para nikon 5200, gracias
The Tamron 16-300mm lens for Nikon will be fully compatible with the D5200.
El lente 16-300mm de Tamron para uso con Nikon si seria completamente compatible con el D5200.
I have been wondering about the Tamron 16 - 300. I have a sigma 18 - 250 old version at the moment. I also have Sigma 10 -20 so have thought about the Tamron SP 70 - 300 which may be a better lens, cheaper and go without 20 - 70 altough I do have a good 50 prime I can carry.
Any thoughts on the SP 70-300 verses 16 - 300?
EL LENTE SIRVE PARA CANON 7D POR FAVOR INDICAR
El lente Tamron 16-300mm para Canon si es compatible con la Canon 7D.
What are APC-S sensors that your camera has to have for this lens? How do I know if I have that?
I have a Canon 60D. Does this lens have APS-C Sensors?
Cameras are designated by categories based on their sensor size. Canon currently has two sensor formats they use, the first is "Full-Frame" which uses a sensor the same size as a 35mm film negative frame. Cameras such as the 1D Mk IV and the 5D Mk III and 6D are all examples of a full-frame camera. The second format size is called "APS-C" which uses a sensor smaller than a 35mm film negative frame. The 60D is an APS-C type camera as is the 7D and 70D and all of the Rebel series models. On specifications like this if your ever not sure, the owners manual will state that type of detail, as does our website under the "Specifications" tab.
Can I use a teleconverter with this lense and make it a 600mm. How much is it?
No unfortunately. Zoom lenses whose widest focal is less than 70mm are not compatible with any teleconverters.
Sorry, Yossi...but that's not entirely true. There are plenty of teleconverter options for lenses with less than 70mm. E.g., I am using a 1.7 TC for Sony's 55-210mm.
Hi Sadhu. I am personally aware there are some instances where a particular wider angle zoom lens may couple with a teleconverter and work. However across the line the majority of zoom lenses whose focal is less than 70mm (or more commonly lenses designed for APS-C sensors) have a different/wider rear flange design than telephoto lenses do, and when coupled the rear element of glass on the lens can come into contact with the optics inside the converter which is bad. When I wrote my comment before, it errs on the side of safety so as to not cause any customers to attempt to couple such a lens, and then by my advice damage their equipment. Unless a manufacturer recommends a particular teleconverter for a lens, in most instances we would discourage trying to couple them.
When will this lens be available for the Sony A7R with the 'e' mount? What will it cost?
Unfortunately there is no indication on Tamron's website that they will be offering this lens in the Sony "E" mount or not. At this point we can only keep an eye on their website for them to make an announcement. When/if they do, we will then update our website to reflect that information.
I enjoyed the video. I am terribly torn as I set out to purchase my first DSLR. I was confident that I would get the Nikon d5300 with two lenses, the 18-140 VR and the 70-300 VR. But then the person at the camera shop began to push me toward the Tamron 16-300 VR. Now I don't really know what to do. The money will be about the same. But will the quality be much better one way than the other?
The Tamron 16-300mm lens would be a great option for an all-in-one zoom. That being said, if you don’t mind switching out lenses, you would get better results going with the 18-140mm and AF-S 70-300mm VR option. These two lenses will be more consistent throughout their range, than an all-in-one with as much range as the 16-300mm lens.
I ordered the Sony version more than 2 months ago. I never get any answers from B & H or Tamron. I bought a new camera just for that lens. I'm not happy at all
We are sorry for your dissatisfaction with the situation, and share in your frustration with the lack of availability of this lens in the Sony mount. Tamron has not provided us with a specific reason as to the delay; however they are backordered on several of the mounts of their most popular newly announced lenses currently. We hope to be seeing them arrive into our inventory in the near future. In the meantime if you wish to cancel your pre-order, you may send an email to our Customer Service Dept at [email protected].
Tamron 16-300 for Sony
I bought this lens so I would only need one lens to travel with and so far I have been very happy with the close up and distance pictures I have taken. Quality of the pictures is wonderful and since I have 3 other Tamron lens' I will be keping this one.
Please; What's the hold up on the Sony mt. 16-300 from Tamron, or is Sony the problem? Thanx, alw

Hi,
I currently have the Nikon D80, but hope to get the Nikon D7100 around the holidays. Would this worksince the video stated you need a apsc sensor? Also, how is the Tamron 18-270 lens in comaprison to this lens?
Thanks,
Demetrius
Both the D80 and D7100 cameras have an APS-C (aka DX format) sized sensor, and thus this lens is compatible with both cameras. The Tamron 18-270mm lens is also a nice option and at a much better price in case you can sacrifice the extended range on the 16-300mm.
I wish to purchase
Below is a link to the lens in each mount avaialble on our website for you to regard. From there you may make your selection and proceed onto checking out to purchase. Click here: http://bhpho.to/1qNvSYQ
