The World Cup and More with Andrew Hancock

As the 2026 World Cup comes to a close, we had the opportunity to look back at all of the action with Nikon ambassador and sports photographer Andrew Hancock as he shares his experience photographing one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

Andrew is a Sports Illustrated-published photographer, appearing throughout their entire portfolio. Best known for his stunning catalog of images, his enthusiasm to take on challenges, and his ability to overcome adversity when working in a fast-paced environment. Hancock believes that very image, moving or still, must tell a story.

When we sat down with Andrew, he discussed these points and more, such as the importance of knowing what gear you’ll need, as well as the gear you may end up needing as you begin building a kit. We explore how he selects the right tool, and the challenges that come with it, as well as the general challenges of sports photography, like positioning yourself in the best possible place to get the shot.
