The Ball Head 38 from Leica is a lightweight ball head weighing only 1.0 lb while holding up to 52.9 lb. It has a quick release system that allows the camera to mount directly onto the cork-coated mounting platform.

There are four locking knobs on the ball head. One controls the movement of the ball, while another controls the patented TILT function. The TILT function restricts the ball's movement to either front-to-back or side-to-side tilts. A separate knob locks the panning movement in 15° steps, ensuring an accurate stitched panoramic photo, while the last locking knob is for smooth 360° panning.
