The Taurus Super-S3 LCM External Hard Drive Enclosure from Akitio accepts two 3.5" SATA hard drives up to 4TB in capacity and can be used with Windows or Mac computers. The drives can be hardware configured via the enclosure in a RAID 0 or 1 array. Configuring the hard drives in RAID 0 will offer the best performance while RAID 1 offers redundancy to prevent data loss. This drive features one eSATA port, one USB 3.0 port, two FireWire 800 ports and one FireWire 400 port.

Akitio AK-PDD-MSABU3OS-AKTU Overview

The Taurus Super-S3 LCM External Hard Drive Enclosure from Akitio accepts two 3.5" SATA hard drives up to 4TB in capacity and can be used with Windows or Mac computers. The drives can be hardware configured via the enclosure in a RAID 0 or 1 array. Configuring the hard drives in RAID 0 will offer the best performance while RAID 1 offers redundancy to prevent data loss. This drive features one eSATA port, one USB 3.0 port, two FireWire 800 ports and one FireWire 400 port.

The Taurus Super-S3 LCM's LCD readout is used to display device configuration, event messages, and detailed information about the drives. Drive information includes temperature, serial number, storage capacity, drive failure, and when a cable is unplugged.

Cooling the drives is done with a large fan and a perforated aluminum casing. A power adapter and USB 3.0, FireWire 400, FireWire 800, and eSATA cables are included with the Taurus Super-S3 LCM.

Critical parameters such as the HDD temperature can be monitored easily with help of the LCD display
Utilizes Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology also known as S.M.A.R.T. to obtain data directly from the HDD

Hardware acceleration of RAID rebuild
2TB volume option for systems that do not support large volumes
