The B&W 72mm Kaeseman Circular Polarizing Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) Filter is constructed from select polarizer foils and especially prepared optical glass. Kaeseman ("encased") filters are completely edge-sealed for maximum durability under extreme climatic conditions.
Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and varied by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.
The reputation of B+W's Schott glass is world renowned. The high production standards combined with a sturdy brass filter ring make B+W filters hard to beat. These filters have a "heft" to them that is impressive. They may feel heavier but the benefit is in the construction and results. Not only is the glass exceptional but so is the seal between the ring and glass. Schott Glass used in the manufacture of this filter is legendary and synonymous with the highest standards of filter production. It comes with a solid 10-year warranty.
Note! Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems)

I debated whether or not to spend the money on a nice polarizer filter. In my case, it was worth it. One of the reasons I picked this one was resistence to extreme weather temperatures. I just got back from a cruise to Alaska and the pictures of sky and ice (even taken from a mountain top glacier) are excellent. The fog was thick and the wind was strong, between this and my B+W UV filter, you would never know there was any inclement weather.

I have never thought of paying this much for a CPL, but knowing B+W is one of the top producers of filters and needing a CPL for my main lens (Nikkor 18-200mm), this felt like a good buy. I got the CPL and the workmanship of the filter is superb. The reason I gave this filter 3 stars is due to the poor QA on the filter I received. It would only screw down on my lens about half-way and there was one spot in the rotation of the filter that was very tight; indicating to me the filter was slightly out-of-round. I RMA'd it for a new one, so we'll see how that turns out.

Comments about B+W 72mm Kaeseman Circular Polarizing Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) Filter:
I bought this filter to give me a polarizer for the Canon 15-85mm lense. Clarity is great and the polarization is as expected. I have other B&W filters and find that they work excellent. Lense cap for Canon fits perfectly and does not come off. Glass in filter is quite good and workmanship of product is excellent.

I own a number of B&W filters and I've been nothing but satisfied with them. This filter is no exception.
Does exactly what you need and expect from a Circ-Pol. Smooth non-binding brass fitting, crystal clear glass. You won't regret attaching to high end lens.

Found that the filter does a nice job of "bluing" the sky, making the clouds whiter. Also, water takes on a slightly blue appearance.

B+W filters are the best constructed filters available. The Schott Glass makes this filter highly durable. The filter is quite a bit heavier but that it due to the quality of the glass used. The thread design is great as it provides an excellent weather seal.

Comments about B+W 72mm Kaeseman Circular Polarizing Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) Filter:
I'm a pro who does a lot of landscape and cityscape photography. A polarizer is a must! This B&W Kaeseman has a much superior build-quality than polarizers I've had in the past. The action is firm and smooth and it holds the desired setting - and I get AMAZING results!
It is pricier than lesser polarizers - but, for me, the build-quality and the results are more than worth it... I'll get many years out of this polarizer!

I just tried this out at the Audobon Zoo and it worked great for killing reflections on glass enclosures and for seeing through the surface of the water to photograph alligators. It feels solid and does exactly what it is supposed to do.
