A B+W 77mm Haze (UV) MRC Filter is a wise initial investment. It helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. If desired it can be left on the lens at all times for protection. A haze filter provides additional benefits of correction for Ultraviolet (UV) light which can register on film and videotape as a bluish cast and can obscure distant details. An ultraviolet filter allows you to correct for the UV effect to varying degrees.
A B+W UV MRC filter is an excellent general purpose filter since it will not only protect your front element from airborne contaminants as well as fingerprints but also help you get better images at high altitude and while on the water. Using this filter will diminish the bluish cast caused by the various atmospheric factors, yet, it will not have an effect on the color balance of your shot. No increase in exposure is required.
The filter ring is made from brass yielding a stronger product. Brass filter rings are also less prone to jamming. In addition, the seal between the glass and filter ring is exceptionally strong giving the filter added strength and durability. The excellent Schott Glass used in the manufacturing of this filter is legendary and synonymous with the highest standards of filter production. It comes with a solid 10-year warranty.
The MRC coating on this filter adds to its durability - particularly under less than optimal weather conditions. In addition, the hard coating makes cleaning the filter easier - especially when it comes to removing fingerprints or surface dirt. Moreover, this filter benefits users of digital cameras whose shorter focal length lenses are more susceptible to dirt and other contaminants on the front lens element.
Multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

First, I wanted a filter that would not degrade the picture quality of my L-Series Lenses. Second, I wanted a quality product that would protect my lens and provide the filtering I needed for my outside sports, nature, and portraiture photos. After plenty of research, I settled on this filter. After trying it, I decided to switch all the filters on my 77mm L-Series lenses. This product does a fantastic job filtering the UV, providing protection for my expensive L-lenses, and retaining the high quality pictures these lenses are renowned for. I have placed these on my 70-200 2.8L, my 100-400 4.5-5.6L, and my 24-70 2.8L Series lenses. I have never been more satisfied with the results and highly recommend them, especially for prime lenses. If you're going to spring for a prime lens, don't skimp on the filter -- it's too important as your lens captures all your photos through that filter -- purchase a high quality filter to put on that high end lens! You will be so glad you did! I know I was! *One side note, if you use a full frame camera, and want to put an 82mm B&W UV filter on your wide angle lens, make sure to purchase the slim version filter to eliminate corner vignetting. I use a Canon 7D (crop sensor), and find the regular thickness 82mm UV Haze F-Pro B&W Filter works just fine, and does not cause any corner vignetting.

Comments about B+W 77mm UV Haze 010 F-Pro MRC Filter:
I needed a filter to protect my newly purchased Canon 17-40mm f4L lens. I was concerned that the petal design of the lens hood would not protect the glass effectively. Originally, I was going to buy B&W's 77mm thin filter to eliminate any potential vignetting problem. A member of B&H's ordering department told me that the filter I am now reviewing was actually thinner that B&W's competitors' filters and that vignetting would not be a problem. Two immediate benefits to this newly recommended filter would be that it was less expensive (by almost half) than the B&W 77mm thin model AND I would be able to use my normal lens cap because the filter was threaded. I was also told that the glass was the same in both filters. Trusting his recommendation, I purchase a second for my Canon 24-105mm f/4L. When I tried the filter on my lens, the salesman was correct: NO vignetting. I couldn't happier with this filter. I should also note that this lens will be used primarily on a Canon 1D Mark II.

Comments about B+W 77mm UV Haze 010 F-Pro MRC Filter:
This filter was bought at the same time as my Canon 100-400mm lens. All of my lenses have B+W filters on them. I have personally seen a lens drop and the filter get cracked but the lens itself was not damaged. The cost of replacing the filter is a lot cheaper than replacing the lens.

There are a number of objectives of the filter. The most important of which is to block the glare. The purpose of the lens can protect as well.
In this sense, B + W filters are equipped with the highest levels of quality. Has a long history as a company that excels in quality and technology. 77mm UV Haze 010 F-Pro MRC Filter also is one of the best filter.
B + W filters, especially the contamination of the strongest is a big advantage. To clean the filter is much better than other products.
If you think a little bit expensive but good quality is never a waste.

Bought this filter to protect my canon 24-70mm L lens. My first impression was that this thing actually has some weight to it. Second impression was that this filter is *crystal* clear -- exactly what I want from it. Photos came out as same as without the filter was on. No degration on my images whatsoever.

You cannot beat B+W quality and construction. The glass and coatings are perfect and the brass mounting rings (glass now mounts from the rear) never seem to bind on the lens.
