Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizer Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Filter - Thin - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens.
Hoya's High Transmission Super-Multi-Coating minimizes reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.
Hoya SMC Slim Polarizers are for wide-angle lenses, are 5mm thick, and do not have a front thread.
Note! Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems)

Hoya's Super-HMC Polarizer outdoes the HMC polarizer with 4 additional coatings for scratch resistance, anti-reflection and more. It lets in 99.7% of light whereas the HMC allows only 97%.The filter is scored on it's outer rim so one can gauge when its effect is at an optimum. You can make a mental note of where the filter's hot spot is.Because it's thin, it is very difficult to use with a lens hood - not impossible - but why would anyone use a lens hood with so many layers of anti-reflective coatings on the filter's backside? You're not going to get ghosting with this filter, nor will you get vignetting on your wide angle lens due to it's thin design. The only problem I find with this filter is that it has a pop on rubber cover since it isn't front threaded. You're snap on cover will not work with it. It's not a major hassle. I just remember to hold the cap on with my hand as I walk with my camera.[...]Spend the extra bucks and have confidence in your equipment. If it weren't for the lens cap, this would easily be rated 5 stars.

Comments about Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizer Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Filter - Thin:
I'm loving this polarizer. The slim design is not difficult for me to use, but the rotating ring definitely is small. The build quality seems just fine. Works great for darkening the sky and removing reflections. This is the best price I found on a multi-coated filter, i saw it for sale for 2-3x the price at other stores. Buy it and then just buy some step-up rings to use on any lenses smaller than 77mm.

Comments about Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizer Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Filter - Thin:
I really don't like using this. My regular lens cap does not fit, and it comes with it's own rubber cover that doesn't stay on very well. I'm very disappointed.

Comments about Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizer Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Filter - Thin:
The thin S-HMC polarizer does exactly what it's supposed to do without causing an ugly blue bulls-eye in the middle of clear blue skies that I experienced with the B&W polarizer. It also has a minimum of vignetting at wide angles. Only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that they need a better cover that doesn't fall off so easily.

Comments about Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizer Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Filter - Thin:
I use this filter to cut glare on architectural projects. It works great, and I can't believe I got by without one before now. It does its job perfectly, but my only beef is that the knurled exterior ring is too thin and at times difficult to grip / turn. But maybe I just need more time with it.....wait and see......advice---make sure the filter is screwed in tight, otherwise you may be simply unscrewing the filter while adjusting the best angle, and it might fall on the floor! No, mine did not break or suffer any damage----phew!

Comments about Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizer Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Filter - Thin:
I don't like the thin version of this filter. When you try to rotate it, you usualy touch the glass with you finger as the ring is very thin. Also the lens cap doesn't fit and you get rubbery cover that usualy falls off. Despite that the filter is great and effective.

Comments about Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizer Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Filter - Thin:
I did not realize this was the Thin version when i bought it [...] I was looking for the S-HMC and bought that, instead of reading all the way to the last word in the descriptor (thin). This means your lens cap won't fit and you get a silly rubbery cover that falls off if you sneeze hard enough. And there's no rings to screw anything on the front either.Otherwise, it's an excellent filter and does what it's supposed to. Remember: Your lens is only as good as the filter you put on the front.

Comments about Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizer Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Filter - Thin:
I purchased this polariser for my Canon EFS 10mm-22mm lens. I was in the town of Poltava, where a wide angle is a must. The dreaded horrors of vignetting at 10mm did not happen. A great polarizer should be on a great lens!

Thin enough to not vignette at 12mm with my Pentax 12-24, which was my reason to purchase.
