Comments about Mighty Wondercam (Videosmith) Classic Shoulder Pod:
I would recommend this product, but with some precautions. Overall, a very good product. Rugged, well built, etc. The shoulder pad is not very ergonomic and I'll need to add a better pad one of these days. I am also going to have to customize it by adding some counterweights to balance the rig out a bit. As of now, I get one heck of an arm/chest workout when trying to use this for extended periods of time... [...], here I come!

If you are looking for a really sturdy and well made shoulder pod this is the one. It is a little heavy for my liking but at the same time it is very durable.

Unit is horrid but by tearing mine apart I was able to create several other devices for low shots and a copy stand so I did get use out of it but not for what it was created for.

Not ergonomic shoulder pad.
Heavy; tiring to bear the weight of a 4pds. (and over)camera fitted, without a device to link to a waist support.

Comments about Mighty Wondercam (Videosmith) Classic Shoulder Pod:
I recently purchased a HD Sony HVR Z1U camera. I have filmed with a Canon GL2 for many years. The Sony seems slightly bigger; enough to justify purchasing a shoulder pod - so I ordered the Classic shoulder pod form Mighty-Wondercam.It is constructed very well; all of the materials seem to be very durable and rugged - seems like it should last. My complaint with it is this; I honestly don't think a lot of thought went in to the ergonomics of the piece. The shoulder strap itself is a rigid arc of metal. It does have a "pad" glued to the inside of the frame; but it hardly constitutes cushion - it is more like hardened rubber. So right off the bat; holding this thing on your shoulder is not very comfortable. No matter how this shoulder piece is adjusted; it just never feels right. My other complaint is that no matter how I adjust the other 3 components that offer adjusting; I can not get the eyepiece in the correct spot. Perhaps it is the size of my specific camera; I'm not completely sure. On a positive note! Having this extra piece of equipment attached to the camera gives the operator many more options for holding the camera. I often find myself squatting low to the ground; using the shoulder brace as a mono-pod on the ground. I also collapse the shoulder brace all of the way down, and rest it against my chest, or under my arm. All of these options are more comfortable than placing it on your shoulder. I am happy to have it; I just think some more thought could have gone it to a piece like this. [$]Just my 2 cents.Ron

Comments about Mighty Wondercam (Videosmith) Classic Shoulder Pod:
I went into the market for a good shoulder mount. I wantedwhat film cameras have had since they've been light enough tocarry: a handheld look that is locked to the torso of theoperator: grounded, stable when still, a sense of weight, asense of natural movement. Using smaller video cameras andsuper 8, the high mobility drove me nuts. The tendency toroll the camera left and right without noticing it untilreviewing the footage drove me crazy. I bought threeproducts from B and H. This is the one I kept. The build feels strong, solid, firm. the hand grip is ahard rubber with excellent grip and feel. The adjustibilityis awesome. The camera can slide forward and back, up anddown, left and right to find the best balance for asituation and the best fit for the eyepiece, should you useit. Immediately out of the box it felt like an extension of me. This is hands down a huge bargain for the money. it's whatyou dream of as a consumer and rarely receive an excellentproduct worth the money. Absolutely earned my investment.
