Using a "Tri-Titanium" aerospace alloy compromised of aluminum, magnesium, and titanium, the Slik 700DX Pro Tripod Legs has a strength-to-weight ratio 40% greater than comparable tripods in its class. It is a very professional unit whether you're concerned with strength, fit and finish, or refinement of operation. The rapid-type center column cannot rotate accidentally, and the lever locks work securely with a minimum of movement. The 700DX has foam-padded upper segments to ease carrying on your shoulder and working in the cold, and its simple angled rubber leg tips give a firm footing while also allowing you to carry it upon some aircraft.

The Slik 700DX is an outstanding value! I bought the legs-only for less than [$]! Even the full assembly with head is less than [$]. I have several friends that have the complete tripod, so I am very familiar with it. I mounted a large Manfrotto ball head and couldn't be happier, although the combination becomes quite heavy compared to the Slik version. I love the silky action of the legs, the side clips for locking are very fast and sure, the adjustable collar for center post tension and the overall rock steadiness. I also like the rubber feet instead of spikes. The only thing I don't like is that the first opening position of the leg spread is a little tight. There are two other stops for widening the legs, and that's fine, But I would prefer a few more degrees of spread on initial opening. That is a very, very small complaint. It could use a decent shoulder strap. No complaints on function or appearance. I give it 5 stars out of 5 for function, reliability and value.Definitely superior to my Sanford & Davis' Magnum and Bogen 3011.My big Bogen 3051 is going to get a lot less use!

i'm a semi pro photographer that likes to take landscape photos. i take photos of beaches as well as mountains. the slik pro 700dx can only 'survives' for a year in my kit. one of the leg was unplugged and another leg can't be fully retracted.
it's better to buy a better albeit of more expensive tripod, my gitzo survives couple years already.

Comments about Slik 700DX Pro Tripod Legs (Titanium Finish):
This tripod is very sturdy. An overall great product for its use. And another plus is that it has enough bulk so that there is virtually zero camera shake when used properly. My night shots are coming out a lot clearer now with this tripod. Even if it's not lightweight, that is really no problem because with a lighter weight tripod, there is more incidence for camera shake due to wind and even a person stepping near by.

Comments about Slik 700DX Pro Tripod Legs (Titanium Finish):
I ordered this tripod to be used with a telescope, so I wouldn't have to tie up my inexpensive Manfrotto tripod. I was a bit surprised how big and heavy it is, as I didn't really read the specs closely. It's big, and heavy.
But, it's also as solid as a rock. It's better than my Manfrotto which cost me about $100. You can invert the center column and get low down. It's not something you'll want to take backpacking with you though.
I got it with the Smith-Victor BH2 Ball Head, and together it's a pretty serious combination.

Comments about Slik 700DX Pro Tripod Legs (Titanium Finish):
I bought the 700DX Pro primarily to use for landscape and aquarium photography. This tripod is my 1st semi-pro unit.
Indoors it is very stable and solid. The rubber feet get a solid grip and hold it on wood, tile and ceramic tile flooring. Outside the rubber feet don't quite have the same level of grip on dirt, grass, a soft forest floor etc. Spikes would have been better but those are not to be found on an entry level semi-pro type tripod.
As a check I placed my ball mount on a known level surface and leveled the ball with it's bubbles. I Then mounted the ball on the tripod. I was pleasantly surprised to find that when placed on a level surface with all legs fully extended and locked the 700DX was level with no adjustments to the ball required.
The leg extension locks are rock solid with no slippage at all.
The leg angles can be extended out almost to the horizontal making shots close to the ground easy.
The unit is heavier than I had anticipated but for landscape photography in windy Oklahoma that is a plus and aids in stability. In addition I found the 700DX to be a bit long for my tastes when folded up but not excessively so.
Even with the center column fully extended with a Nikon D70S mounted the unit is stable.
The unit comes with a light but sturdy carrying case.
Switching from the 3/8" mount screw to the 1/4" screw was a quick and easy change over.
The 700DX is not a true professional grade tripod in my opinion but for the advanced amateurs among us it is a good first multi-use tripod that provides a lot of quality for the price.
Based on my experience with the 700DX so far I would have no problem buying SLIK made products in the future.

It's a great tripod for the price. It's "heavy" in comparison to the really expensive composite ones, but if this is the price range you're looking for then I don't think you can do better.

As a freelance video producer and photographer, I was looking for a pro-grade tripod to work with both my Cannon HFS100 and my Rebel XSi DSLR. After a lot of research, I hit upon the best value package tripod legs - the Slik 700DX Pro. With rubber-padding for easy gripping during height adjustment, and for quick lifting and packing, an adjustable center-column that allows both high-level (7ft from the ground) and extremely low-level (1 foot from the floor, when inverted) gear set-up, a compact and durable carry bag, all for under $100, this hidden-gem cannot be beat!!

This is a great value - solid, no longer worry about my camera and lens dropping to the ground. I am 6'4" and it's nice to have a tripod which is taller than me and remains solid.

Purchased this product only a few weeks ago so I cannot speek about longevity, This pod is a little on the heavy side but this is not a bad thing. Coupled with the correct weighted ballhead for your application this tripod will work wonderfull for just about every application you have. If you are looking for a good tripod at a reasonable cost and weight is not a concern, look no further! Add to cart. Thank you B&H!!!

This tripod is a very nice addition to my tool bag. I love the fact that I no longer have to stoop over to take pictures. It is also used with a spotting scope, the stability and height make the difference.

Comments about Slik 700DX Pro Tripod Legs (Titanium Finish):
Great tripod, great price. I did a lot of research and I found this came the closest to having everything I wanted for under $100. It's not too heavy, I've yet to take it on a long hike, but I will. The height is great without using the center column. It easily gets to my eye height.
The only downside to this tripod is that it doesn't get low low to the ground. I think it's somewhere around a foot off the ground at the lowest. You can hang your camera upside down with the column reversed and get a low shot still

This is a tripod that will give you the support that you need for first class photos especially with digital slrs. It is really a solid piece of equipment but is not compact or light.

I have a Nikon D90 and use a Sigma 50-500 lens which is heavy. This tripod easily handles it with firm footing and ease of use. It is fairly heavy but that is required for the big lenses. It is a little too large for continuous "carry around", but I do little of that. Good value for the investment.

I was in Death Valley shooting Badwater salt polygons in 30+ mph wind and the shots came out crisp like there wasn't any wind at all, although heavy, you can't beat this tripod's stabilization in wind or shallow water (lake, stream or ocean)

These legs have a very nice solid feel. I like the reversibe center to allow me to get my camera right down to the ground. The leg spread has a 3 position lock to make sure the legs are all spread the same to 1 of 3 positions. The center has a split tube for the 3rd position that lets you get very low with the camera still on top. Flip the tube and the camera mounts below allowing you to get all the way to the ground.

I wanted a versatile tripod that i could use in the field with my 4x5. This one is great...price, build, features. Yeah, it's heavy, but that's good!
