I used one on a catalog shoot for about a week with a profoto kit. It takes a firm hand and a strong back to set one of these up, but the speed is worth it. The clients loved it, popping one is sort of a party trick.
For a light of this size and quality to set up in just a few minutes is impressive. The build quality is also excellent. The pressure clamp on the back looks wimpy, but is not, it holds this thing fast. Also the handle that pulls out from the back helps a great deal when working this thing alone.
My only complaint is that with a profoto kit, the speedring adapter lock runs in the same direction as the elinchrom unlock. So, when you put a profoto head in place and twist the ring to lock it in place, you are also unlocking the ring and head and detaching them from the octa-bank!! Not good!! I managed to catch it the first time and watched out for it after that, but I wished that someone had warned me.

Great but did not last.
This modifier does make beautiful light, but unfortunately all the spokes broke through the fabric... I had to patch the entire thing. Tried to get in touch with Elinchrom but still have yet...Read complete review

This is a very nice and easy to use lightbank. It creates the softest light I have ever seen! Excellent for headshots, portraits or full length fashion.
I have used other larger octabanks and this is the easiest to setup and breakdown after a photoshoot!
Highly recommended!!

Beautiful light but would love to have more substantial grip for the heaviness of the light bank

Used for full length portraits in studio
Beautiful, soft even light
Well thought out and designed Extremely easy to set up for such a large softbox
A large "C" stand is required or similar heavy duty light stand to support the large Octa
Seems portable for outdoor use....no experience there however

This octa is a wonderful light modifier! I have used it in studio and on location, and this octa is a snap to setup, use and control, breakdown, and carry. It comes with its own carrying bag which is also nice. The soft wrap around light that is created is wonderful! Works best on a boom stand to get a 45 degree directional light.

This is a very high quality product that produces a wash of soft light that is easily used for sinlge light studio shots or in conjunction with multiple light set ups. I love this product and use it with other Elinchrom lights and softboxes of one kind or another.
One caveat--this MUST be mounted on a heavy-duty stand and I strongly recommend (and use) at least 20-30 pounds of sandbagging to ensure stability.
GREAT PRODUCT just like other Elinchrom stuff.

Great modifier for Portrait - very soft easy to control, be aware that this is very huge, and requires some calm nerves, and steady strong arms. You must align brackets as you open the umbrella and provide steady tension as you connect it, then you have to reach about 6 foot up to install the cover. Since Im 6'2" this was not a problem for me on my tip toes. Setting this up takes me about 2 minutes - thats after the stand is in place, and the bag is opened. Love what it can do... just wish I had more money - this is just the beginning of wanting more stuff like this...
