I've used same Hakuba with my previous camera EOS 50D. It was very useful during my visit to St.-Petersburg this summer - I walked around 40 km in 2 days and now I can't imagine how else I could carry my 50D with attached 24-70/2.8L with such convenience.
Time have passed and now I have 7D but without any grip. I thought to buy similar one made by Canon but when I saw this Hakuba on B&H site I decided to add some extra items to my order for my friends as Christmas gifts :)
There are only 2 disappointing things with this grip:
- insufficient length of strap
- impossible to use with default neck strap

I used to wrap the neck strap around my wrist but now I've replaced it with this grip; it practically locks the camera to your arm. There are two problems: the adjustable strap (that connects the grip to the camera) is too short and the plastic locking mechanism doesn't hold the strap well so it keeps loosening. I find myself constantly checking how close the end of the strap is getting to the plastic locking thingy. If it loosens too much, the camera falls off (bad). I don't have particularly large hands so I can't be the only one having this problem. I've written to the manufacturer for a longer strap but haven't heard anything back. [...] (Even a "sorry we can't help you email" would have been nice.)I think if I stapled it, it would hold but would make removing it a hassle. This would be an awesome grip if the strap holding the camera were just a bit longer and the locking mechanism actually worked.

I found it incredibly slow to attach to your wrist but very secure. Combined with the spider belt clip and worked well.

I use this grip with my Sony A850 and the support it gives is excellent. It can easily be used with a tripod and quickly removed for freehand shots. The padding and support at the wrist makes for a comfortable fit. I tired other grips and straps but this is the best I've used so far.

Comments about Hakuba Camera Grip PH:
If you don't mind walking around with your DSLR swinging in the breeze and want 1- a more secure grip than a strap will provide and 2- do not want to be identified as a camera carrying geek then this is the product for you. I have been using if for a couple of years and it is liberating. True, it limits what you can do with the hand it's attached to but if you're out shooting you're not going to be writing letters anyway, right?

The Camera grip works perfectly with the handling of the camera. It is very sturdy and allows flexibility with use of the camera. Everything is great about this Camera hand grip and I am yet to find anything that isn't soo great about it.

Comments about Hakuba Camera Grip PH:
the grip is really good except for the fact that the strap that runs through it ( from the top corner of your camera to the bottom shoe they supply that screws into the bottom of your camera) it's too short! it needs to be 4" longer especially if you have a grip like an MB-D10 or an MB-D200. i made my own out of dog leashes for mini pooches. works great.i contacted the company to see if they were going to do something to fix the problem.........when you do fix the problem like i did, and you have it on you can't even throw the camera off your hand. i have a D300S-24-70 lens. almost 7 lbs.

I've used this product for the last three years, and it has been all I could have hoped for. I use it with a Digital Rebel with a Sigma 18-200 stabilized zoom, and I wouldn't want to do anything heavier, but I've been out all day and not had any problem with it.

Comments about Hakuba Camera Grip PH:
I couldn't fasten strap around my hand so this camera grip was useless since the very start. I doubt if I had the right straps it would allow me to carry my camera with the 70-200mm VR attached.
