This Impact Light Stand is aluminum, extends to 10' (3 m), and has four sections, with sure-twist section locks.
If you forget to tighten any section with your light mounted, the light slowly descends, thanks to the air-cushioning of this stand. This useful feature saves equipment, and fingers from harm during busy photo sessions.

Great stand for mobile setups and light-weight studio work (I own 4 of them). If you plan on using all 10 feet of it's reach, I wouldn't recommend putting much weight at the top of it (no more than a flash with a modifier). It isn't a heavy duty studio stand. That isn't its purpose. It does a great job with hot-shoe flashes mounted on top. I haven't had an issue yet using it this way. Sandbags are a very good thing. If you are just starting out or buying a mobile setup, you can't go wrong buying this.

"Air Cushioned Light Stand" is supposed to lower gently under the weight of the lamp or what ever is loaded on top. This ones does not lower "Gently". it pretty much plops to the bottom if you loosen it too fast.
Also, it would have been nice to have a stop or some kind of indicator to show when to stop opening the legs.

I use this stand for work lights that I modified for use on indie film sets. The stand is light but seems durable. It's more than tall enough (puts the light at the very top of my cathedral ceiling) and the air cushion works fine. It's jerky but serves it purpose to keep the light from slamming down if you forget to tighten it. Folds to about 2 feet in length.

Comments about Impact Air Cushioned Light Stand, Black - 10' (3m):
Though largely positive, I've read some mixed reviews about these stands. My initial impression is that they work as advertised and are a tremendous value. Everything works well including the seals that regulate the soft drop while lowering the rig. We'll see what happens overtime but initial impressions are very positive.

I converted this lightstand into a mic stand by using a 1/4-20 to 3/8" adapter. It works perfectly as a tall mic stand, which I use for classical recording in concert halls. It folds up really compact and is very light. This is a great versatile stand!

I was using someone else's stands for awhile that came with a similar light kit. I knew it might be a pain to deal with but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the quality has improve. I couldn't be happier

I am very impressed with this stand. I got 2 of them in a kit. When I pulled them out and started looking at them I was amazed at how well made they are. They are fairly thick gauge metal, with great fasteners to tighten them in place. They fold down quite small for storage, they are very sturdy and the air cushions in the extensions are nice too in case you forget to tighten it with your strobe on top. Amazing value!!!

At first I had doubt about the company Impact. I thought the stand would be weak when everything is attached to it. To my surprise it is pretty stable. I attach an umbrella and a softbox and it didnt tip over.

this stand is very sturdy. VERY TALL! My ceilings are almost 15ft and it gets close to that height. Strong and air cushion is good also.

Comments about Impact Air Cushioned Light Stand, Black - 10' (3m):
I bought this lightstand as a part of an initial build-up of a home studio for shooting portraits of the kids.
Initially, I had thought this would be the lightstand I'd use for the strobe + large softbox combo.
Having tried this in practice, I'm pretty convinced that I would rather use something else. Weight-wise, all of the things I mounted are below the weight limit for this stand, but it's definitely not confidence-inspiring. For example, with a strobe and modest softbox (24x24), even though it's air-cushioned, it fell straight down when I released the top section.
I think this is a great lightstand if you intend to mount speedlights or strobes without heavy modifiers. If you intend to get a heavy strobe and a big octabox on this, forget it.
Bottom line:
it's lightweight, it's cheap, and it folds even smaller than some of the 6 ft lightstands I own. Just don't put heavy heads on it.

No complaints here. This light stand is not the ultra-high industrial type but it does a very good job for a very low price.

These 10' air cushioned light stands provide light weight and sturdy support for the Impact 300 w/s monolights. They are easy to adjust and hold position. They are excellent for my in-home studio (which has to be put up and taken down regularly).

Comments about Impact Air Cushioned Light Stand, Black - 10' (3m):
Really don't like these stands. I purchased a couple based on the reviews and I regret it. The bottom-most screw knob that tightens the leg spread got stripped (presumable because a metal screw it going right into plastic) on BOTH of my light stands. This means that the stand can't be locked open. It's still usable but certainly doesn't inspire any confidence. Not only that, but the footprint isn't as large as I'd like (27") I've decided I like light stands with a good 37-40" spread. Just pass on these, trust me.

I use the lights to shoot classical music concerts videos mainly. They are good for chamber music setting, at church, living room or small hall.
The stand is a bit too light. Sand bags needed for sure.
