The JK Audio THAT-2 is a telephone audio interface that connects between the telephone receiver and base. THAT-2 is designed to capture audio to record and play sound bytes or to send IFB dialog over phone lines. The compact telephone tap features balanced and unbalanced XLR and RCA I/O connectors.
The audio connections are used for sending line level signal down phone lines or capturing a mix of send and receive audio. A 3-position switch enables THAT-2 to be used with either a carbon, dynamic or electret style receiver (receivers with keypads are not compatible). Level adjust dials provide control over send and receive levels. THAT-2 is a compact, passive device that requires no external power source.

Comments about JK Audio THAT-2 Telephone Handset Audio Tap:
Good solution for recording both ends of a phone conversation. It works well with my setup, and I can even playback audio from my computer.
Only issue so far is that it seems to amplify a signal on the phone line, and you can hear a radio station in the background. Might be a phone company issue...

Comments about JK Audio THAT-2 Telephone Handset Audio Tap:
I have lost my ability to speak. I have software on my IPAD that generates speech, but THAT-2 connects my IPAD to the phone. THAT-2 is as sturdy as a brick, I throw it in my knapsack and take it with me. I could not get by without it. Thanks to JK Audio for such a wonderful product.

Comments about JK Audio THAT-2 Telephone Handset Audio Tap:
As a recording studio owner and engineer, I needed producers to be able to hear clear audio over long distance telephone land lines. I can now have voice over talent come in to record and the producer can be anywhere in the world. For [$]...it was well worth the investment. It will pay for itself in one voice over session!

We have been very pleased with how clean and how easily operable this product is. It has proven to be very helpful in our predicament and would readily recommend it to others.

Not many phone recording devices are as easy to use as the That-2. Works with any type of phone system as it plugs into the handset. For the price, this new version with XLR connectors make this a pro unit.

Comments about JK Audio THAT-2 Telephone Handset Audio Tap:
That-2 is a great little phone tap box that sounds great and is very easy to use. It connects up to the hand set of the telephone then it has a mic output to your mixer. I know you can spend a lot more money on a phone tap, but why? This little box does the trick.

Comments about JK Audio THAT-2 Telephone Handset Audio Tap:
Bought this on the recommendation of colleagues who use it for recording telephone interviews. Works as advertised. This is not a digital hybrid, so you won't get the same results as a unit costing 4-10 times as much, but it looks to be constructed robustly, and it does a reasonably capable job. Compact size but weighs more than you might think indicating more metal than plastic inside. XLR connectors a big plus for me.

Comments about JK Audio THAT-2 Telephone Handset Audio Tap:
I needed to record some phone interviews and this product worked great. There are some hum noises, but if you make sure your recorder is running on batteries (I used a Marantz PMD670) and do some initial testing/fiddling with the THAT-2 knobs to get the least bit of hum/line noise, the end result should be pretty decent.

Comments about JK Audio THAT-2 Telephone Handset Audio Tap:
I pastor a Church and we wanted to begin a "phonecast" for individuals who cannot hear our webcast over the internet or attend the servie in person. I neded an interface that would take the audio signal "out" of the main board to our telephone. This product works perfect. It is easy to install and operate, which is valuable asset for the volunteers that work in the sound dept. The signal is clear and produces a good volume, which can be adjusted with the volume control, if needed.
The product also has a nice feature of being able to carry audio FROM the phone to the board. This will be helpful when I wish to "interview" an upcoming speaker and allow the congregation to listen.

Comments about JK Audio THAT-2 Telephone Handset Audio Tap:
I use the THAT-2 to record phone conferences when I am away from my studio and don't want to bring along my Gentner AP-10. I connect the THAT-2 to my BATTERY OPERATED Sony PCM-D50, and the combination works perfectly. I have been unable to use the THAT-2 with any AC powered recorder without getting significant hum on the recording. Although I would recommend this device to a friend, I would be sure to suggest testing it out in the desired application before using it on an important job. (Perhaps I have just been spoiled by the Gentner phone interface.) The THAT-2 certainly cannot be beaten for small size and ruggedness. Also, the THAT-2 doesn't care if it is used with an analog or digital phone line, because it connects between the base and handset.

Comments about JK Audio THAT-2 Telephone Handset Audio Tap:
I have been super-impressed with the THAT-2, with its rugged design and ease of use. The only issue I've had is that there is a noticeable, audible click when switching between handset and line on the device.

Comments about JK Audio THAT-2 Telephone Handset Audio Tap:
I needed to do a telephone audio recording while on location with one of my customers and this offered a very good and simple solution.
The only problem - and it was NOT caused by the THAT-2 - was that I had a hum using AC power to my Marantz 670 recorder even with an inline isolation device so I ran on battery power and had very little noise and what was left was easily filtered out in Soundtrack Pro. I've had fluctuating voltage problems at this site when shooting video there so the hum was no surprise.
The Handset/Line In selector can function as a mute button on the recorder end and this was a very important feature for me. THAT-2 is a VERY useful addition to my audio equipment.
