I just bought a set of 600RX mono's and I do think they are kinda cheaply made. They look like they were make in the 70's. I definitely think Elinchrom needs a product design update, really. The Rotalux softboxes are one of the cheapest softboxes I have ever seen. The material is so thin I wonder if it will last on location shoots. Thank god for the 2 year warranty. I do like the concept of a foldable softbox that does not need to be taken apart like a profoto. Even though I like the concept it still takes a while to break down and set up. You have to give Elinchrom credit for giving you so much with a Rotolux softbox though. A nice carry bag, speedring and all the usual, as most other companies charge for the speedring and nice bag a la carte. They need to put more effort in to better quality materials.
The light quality is really good though, smooth and consistent. I love the 1/10th stop control and the skyport power controls. Lots of features but quality needs to be a little better as far as materials go. I hope they work on the really outdated look in the future. I am sure people get turned off by the 70's look they have. People like a nice look, good looks help sales. All in all Elinchrom seems to have quality light from their products, but a bit like some other companies out there they go cheap on the materials and looks. I know when I look for a product I look for durability and quality. They have one and not the other. Profoto has both but their prices are outrageous and do nothing but rise continually. So C'mon Elinchrom your almost there.

Comments about Elinchrom Digital Style 600RX 600 Watt/Second Monolight (120VAC):
These are great lights. I decided to upgrade from my Photogenic 1250DR Powerlights and I am ecstatic I spent the money to upgrade. These lights are fantastic, even in distribution and easy to use. My biggest complaint about the Photogenic lights is that the strobes were not always the same color temperature and consistent. NOT SO with the Elinchroms. These things are even and consistent and I will never buy anything but these lights.
FYI - I have had these for about 6 months before writing this review so I could really put them through the rigors of everyday shooting. No FAIL here.

Comments about Elinchrom Digital Style 600RX 600 Watt/Second Monolight (120VAC):
Elinchrom spells quality. Great Product - requires AC and has a cooling fan which is not loud; however, having the Elinchrom Ranger RX system (Battery Operated) which does not have a fan - added some noise I was not use to. The added noise is a little higher than background noise - not loud for studio work - or back of Church.

Comments about Elinchrom Digital Style 600RX 600 Watt/Second Monolight (120VAC):
I purchased 4 Elinchrom 600 RXs to complement the 3 I already had. I mounted the Elinchroms about 50+ ft above the ice sheet. I placed 4 on the shooting side and 3 on the fill in side. Dialed up 4.6 on the lights at 640 ISO shooting with Canon 1D MK III. Great shots. Excellent recycle time though my finger was too quick a few times. Images are clean, saturated very easy to process. I've used the intial 3 and 4 others I manage thousands of times, sometimes 3,800 flashes thursday evening through Friday for basketball tournament

East instruction; only took me about half an hour to fully understood and got started; it is well made and beautiful equipment; I found it easy to connect to my Nikon D300 camera; I did not need to read any instruction this one; work smoothly and expectedly; highly recommended...

Comments about Elinchrom Digital Style 600RX 600 Watt/Second Monolight (120VAC):
I have been shooting with Elinchrom lights for a few years now. I recently purchased the 600 Rx for its higher W/s (than the 400 BX) as well as its low flash duration (For children photography, shorter flash duration certainly helps since they move so much). I am very happy with this light so far. It is very consistent in color temperature and flash power. In my opinion, dollar by dollar, Elinchrom mono lights are better than Profoto.

Comments about Elinchrom Digital Style 600RX 600 Watt/Second Monolight (120VAC):
The quality of light is impressive units, and the flash duration is surpassed by none. For sports arena lighting, these units can't be beat. Love Elinchrom wide array of reflector options.
Comments about Elinchrom Digital Style 600RX 600 Watt/Second Monolight (120VAC):
These units have a flimsy plastic housing that cracks easily. I've had a handle break off of one unit just by picking it up! Another cracked in half after falling off a table and landing on thick carpet. Elinchrom equipment is the most undependable flash equipment I have ever owned. I've had 5 Elin. Mono lights and one 2 head pack set-up, and all have given me problems. Photogenic, (I can hardly believe this myself) is a better system. My south Florida had 11 Photogenic monolights, 4 buffs and the above elinchroms. the Elinchroms were 95% of all the problems.
