Konus has arrived in the world of spotting scopes with the Konuspot-80. It delivers an attractive combination of price, aperture, angled viewing and magnification range. A full 80mm aperture will grant effective illumination in scenarios too dim for even the best of 60-65mm scopes to compete, and many people find the 45° angled viewing experience more comfortable for extended periods(particularly with birding). Sharing a scope experience simultaneously between those of varying heights is easier with an angled scope as well, as the scope is set for the shorter observer and the taller one merely stoops over the scope just a bit more.

Bought this scope for high power rifle competition, and I was not disappointed. The build quality is good and the optics very good. At a fraction of the cost of a Kowa, this scope comes darned close to the Kowa's performance.
Now, I did have a problem with my scope early on, and Konus USA promptly replaced my defective scope with a brand new, identical unit.
Keep in mind that the best performance of any scope is with a fixed magnification eyepiece, and this scope is no different. Best image will be obtained at the lowest magnification. I can still see .30 holes at 200 yards, at 40x though.
The tripod and bag that come with the scope are useless, but I didn't buy a carry bag, I bought a scope.
Overall, this scope has the best price:performance ratio. The image quality is very good, sharp and contrasty with little or no fringing.
Do yourself a favor, though, and buy your Konus scope a cover like the Champion's Choice CC821.

After reading all of the excellent reviews on the web for the Konuspot 80 spotting scope, I was a
bit disappointed when I measured its clarity and
sharpness, side by side with my old, Japan made,
straight line Bushnell Spacemaster spotting scope. Looking at standard eye charts at 100, 200 and 300 yards, the Spacemaster was much sharper and clearer. More lines on the eye chart could easily be read with the Spacemaster at all power settings. The clarity of the Konuspot-80 was somewhat milky. (Much like a BSA riflescope.) Too bad, I had high expectations for this Konuspot-80. On the other hand, maybe I received a bad one? The eyepiece power ring took about 20 lbs of pressure to turn on the Konuspot.
The staff at B&H Photo could not have been nicer
about returning the Konuspot. B&H Photo will receive my return business. I am still in the
market for an angle view, quality, sharp and clear spotting scope for $500.00 or less. (d.w.)

Comments about Konuspot-80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
I bought this scope for spotting my target while shooting Highpower. Upon receiving the scope in the early evening from UPS I noticed that a full moon was out that night. I got out my camera tripod and set the scope up to view the moon. To my surprise the view of the moon was very very clear. Next I took a look at Venus which was in the west and I was able to see Venus and three of it's several moons very clear. This scope which costs less than $200 rivals if not exceeds scopes costing more as I've owned a Kowa 80mm before. I am extremely happy with this scope so far, now to take it out to the firing range. I would definitely highly recommend this scope to anyone who needs to get a spotting scope.

Comments about Konuspot-80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
I just got back from 8 days of hunting mule deer in Northern Nevada's Ruby Mountains. I used the scope in low light of early morning, during the full sunlight of afternoon and in the dimming light of evening to sunset and the scope provided great results. The scope had good eye relief and feels solid in its build. The image was bright at 20x and did dim some up to 60x (as expected). The images where crisp to the outside of the entire view. I shoot competitively and have a Kowa 821 and would say that this scope performs nearly as well. A 20-60x eyepiece for my Kowa would be >$500 USD so I decided to try a scope under $200 USD and I can say, for the money, this scope performs great. It is light enough to carry around and the single focus knob was easy to use.
I would rate this Scope setup at 5 stars if it were the scope alone, but the tripod is trash.
I can't wait to use it at the range, as I am sure it will perform very well.

Comments about Konuspot-80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
I bought this as a second birding scope, something I could leave in the car all the time and wouldn't be devastated if it were stolen. I own a Swarovski 80mm scope now, but it seems like when ever I need it I don't have it with me.Considering I paid a little over a tenth of what the Swarovski cost, I was floored by the optic quality, clear and bright. Eye relief is good, so I can view at 20x and 60 x with my glasses on. I have noticed the ring that mounts the scope to the tripod is plastic, so I'm sure it wold break with with a bump. Otherwise, I think this is a great product. The case that come with it is thin, and not able to stay on the scope during use. I ordered a Fabric padded case from [@] for $34.95 This cover can be left on during use. I have no thoughts on the tripod that comes with the unit. I will not use it.All in all, a great product for the discounted price.

Comments about Konuspot-80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
After reading the reviews I thought I would give this scope a chance. I was hoping to use it at the gun range for 200- 400 yards. It arrived today and the eyepiece was loose and nearly off the body of the scope completely.
It appears that silicon glue is everywhere. When I tried to tighten the eyepiece down the threads would not catch so I backed it out and took a closer look. Silicon glue is all over the threads. The lenses are dirty and there are pieces of silicon glue on the large lens within the scope. The small lenses are dirty to. I will be returning it. This is not something that may have just come loose. It looks like it was never threaded correctly. Quality control problem.

I use the scope to see the scoring disk.
It works well and it's not heavy so it's not an issue lugging around all day.

Comments about Konuspot-80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
Purchased for shooting (223 & 22 calibers) at 100, 200, & 300 yard targets. Both of these calibers leave a small hole ... thus the need for a spotting scope.
At 100 yards you can see the holes on a standard target - not perfect but barely adquate. Over 100 yards, the scope is not useable (for the standard paper target). However, if you use a 'multi-color' target then the Konuspot-80 delivers acceptable results out to 200 yards with a 22 and 300 yards with a 223 caliber.
In any case, do NOT expect to see sharp clarity at any of these ranges especially if you wear glasses for distance.
You absolutely will need a VERY sturdy tripod. Additionally, the cloth carrying case is only a slightly heavier fabric then your standard pillow case!

I purchased this scope as a spotting scope for rifle target shooting. I have only used the product once and it performed beautifully. This is my first scope of this nature and the image was very crisp and clear, very good magnification, with a sturdy tabletop tripod. The case isn't overly padded but will protect the scope well from dust, debris, etc. As I use the scope more I hope to add to my review.

Comments about Konuspot-80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
I have had mine for about a year now. I shoot 200 yard targets and have had no problems with the scope. The scope and stand have been blown over a few times in strong winds. Just recently because of rainy conditions I removed the scope from the protective cover I purchased. I found that the scope body had been breeched, no doubt by falling over at least once. The body is made of plastic and does not appear to be to impact resistant as you might think. To it's credit the scope still performs as hoped with no distortion that I can percieve. Over all for that one draw back this is a good scope for the value minded buyer....just be careful.

Comments about Konuspot-80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
I bought the spotting scope for high power rifle matches but so far have only used it at a 22 match. 22 holes at 100 yards are easily seen and I could see impacts on a steel plate at 200 meters. Side by side with a similar Kowa, I couldn't tell any difference at 100 yards.
As others have said, the tripod is too flimsy to be of any serious use, the lens covers fall off easily, and the bag is nothing to write home about. This really isn't a negative because I intend to buy a scope stand for high power shooting and a Kowa scope cover, which eliminates the cheap case and lens caps falling off.
I only wish I'd bought it sooner.

I use this for shooting long range and hunting plus general wildlife viewing. It won't measure up to the higher end optics, but it outclasses comparably priced spotting scopes by a large margin.
Better eye relief would be nice, and the tripod really isn't up to par, but overall this is one heck of a bargain.

Comments about Konuspot-80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
Excellent spotting scope for the money. Probably the best deal out there for a scope that has such good optics and very good eye relief at 40x. Eye relief is not as good at 60x but that is to be expected.
I don't have anything good to say about the tripod. I used an old Bogen that's strong and adjustable.

For the price, I don't think you could do better anywhere. Optics are bright and clear. Good eye relief for those who wear glasses. I haven't tried it at 300+ yds but is almost perfect for me. The only think I would have preferred was a shock resistant finish as it has a fragile feel to it. [...]

I use it for archery practice and also for my air gun, to clibrate the telescopic scope and I think it was one of the best investments I've done.
I was looking for a good quality spotting scope but not so expensive, and I think it is the best option to use for your pocket and needs.
It must include the Celestron Universal Digiscoping Adapter for a few more bucks.

This is the best spotting scope I have found for the money.
I can see .30 cal bullet holes at 400 yards and can see them at 600 yards with a shoot n see type target. Glass it comparable to more expensive models.
Unless you are wanting to spend $1000+ on a spotting scope, this one is the best I've used.

Comments about Konuspot-80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
I don't have a great deal of experience with spotting scopes so take this with a grain of salt. However, I did a lot of research before purchase and the Konuspot 80 got good marks on numerous sites. The clincher was the sale price B&H had on it. I use it for shooting, but as a side note... I can see the craters on the moon with this thing! :-)
