I use this with my Canon XH A1. It tends to be a little hard to get on, but once it is on, it really helps in viewing the screen. I keep it on almost all of the time.

Very good fit and not bad of a quality unit for the price. Though it does Ok on my Canon XH-A1 I wish the design would be just a bit wider.
A higher quality lens would help.
It gets my 4 star overall an 5+ for the price

I’m only a hobbyist, but have shot several original shorts for friends. I have two HV20s, but only one HD monitor. This goes on the camera that’s not displayed on the monitor and also travels with my kit when I’m a tourist. I kept the plastic clamshell box it came in (just a ½” thick & like 3” X 7”) and it disappears in my camera bag. Anytime I take the time to set up a tripod this little beauty goes on. But, it's not too heavy or bulky to use when you go handheld and actually the 2X view has probably improved my Run&Gun game as well. The hood is very effective on my camera and appears that it will last for years, the only concern I have is what might happen to the plastic magnifier down the road, I'll just be a little extra careful with that part. Even if you never turn off your auto-focus, this little thing will improve your video.

Home video, simple to put together, good magnification, unable to use manual controlled on LCD (HV30). I was pleasantly surprised when I installed this. The magnification is great and very clear, making it easy to see fine focus adjustments. Only issue is using manual play controls when in "play" mode. Easy to take on and off. Really does a good job outdoors.

(before) My wife said, "kinda a silly thing to spend [$] on." (after) "that is pretty impressive."Very good clarity on the magnification, I was a little skeptical, but it looks good. I don't want to jump the gun, but initial tests show dramatic improvement shooting in bright light and being able to see the screen. Magnification helps with determining whether manual focus is dialed in correctly. Took a second to figure out assembly...but it was only a few seconds.I'm impressed overall.

The Canon HV20 has a fairly terrible, low contrast LCD. This fixes the problem. Focus was very difficult, especially when using a 35mm adapter. Not anymore!

The only downside is that it's a bit of a pain to set up, and the plastic can warp over time. I usually leave it assembled in my camera bag, but that can be bulky.

I use this with my Canon XHA1. The magnifier makes all difference in being able to focus. Yes, there are reflections that show up especially in bright sunlight from the back but they are easy to ignore. I like the way it attaches quickly. Highly recommended.

The fabric hood shields light and glare great, but the magnifier simply creates additional reflections under daylight conditions.

I find the magnifier really helps see the LCD much easier and the hood definitely is useful in sunlight. A cloth pouch for the lens would have been nice, as you must take apart the hood and remove the lens for stowing.

It works great for shielding the screen from the sun. I like the magnifier as well it makes it easy to get detailed shots. The one complaint that I have is that when the sun does hit the magnifier head on you get a horrible reflection of yourself on the magnifying glass and it makes it hard to see the lcd screen

I use this product to record motocross riders and family events.I had problems seeing the lcd screen in bright sun light, also I need reading glasses to see the small print on the camcorder screen. This product is a fix for both.One problem with this product is, bright sun light behind you will cause you to see your own reflection in the cheeter lens. This is fixed by wearing a large brim hat.I highly recommend this product for people who have troble seeing the small print on an lcd screen (indoors & outdoors)and thoses who record out doors.If you just need the Hood to help with sun light, Hoodman makes a package with just the hood, however the cheeter lens on this model can be removed in seconds for use w/out it.My camcorder is the Sony DCR-SR300 w/2.7 inch lcd screen.[...]

The Hoodman removes the glare off lcd screen and the 2x magnifer works well.

I did not know how much I loved my hoodman until I went on a shoot without it one afternoon. The magnifier is very useful for the smaller viewfinders.
