question
As they appear to be the same, what is the difference between the Sennheiser cables CM1 and CL2?
CM1 = Mic level input (note M in labeling)CL2 = Line level input (note L in labeling)The difference is they are specific to the input level of the source you are using. If you are using a line level or a mic level. If you are using a line-level such as mixer output, media box, or a condenser mic that has an on-board battery powering it. Here you will need the CL2 or you will probably overdrive your input and get the associated distortion. I don't use this cable very often, but it is nice to have in the kit for those rare occasions. The CM1 is for your normal mic inputs. As most dynamic mics don't care if they get phantom power you can use this cable with those and condenser mics (without onboard power).
