Must-have item for lighting

I often hang a light like an Aputure 300 or Nanlite Forza 300 at the end of a boom stand, like the Manfrotto 085BS. If I just use a standard 5/8" pin to mount the light to the boom, the boom angle becomes a problem - I can't hang the yoke straight vertical or horizontal, making it awkward to get the light/modifier pointed the way I want it. In addition, with a larger modifier like a 48" para, the fixture puts a ton of torque on the pin, and it slips. I can't tighten the yoke hard enough to prevent it from rotating. This is where the 155BKL double-ball joint comes in: I mount one end into one of the boom sockets, and the other end into the light fixture yoke. The 5/8” pins have flats on them, so once everything is tight, the pins won’t slip and rotate from the torque. NOTHING rotates – this clamp is really strong. The tightening handle makes it easy to secure whatever I want to hang on the boom. And because it is a double ball-joint, I can get the light/modifier pointed exactly how I want it, then tighten one handle, and I’m done. Note that the tightening handle is adjustable, so if it interferes with the light or fixture, you can pull it up and re-orient the handle to a different position and continue tightening. I ALWAYS have one of these on-hand for every light I put up. Great product.

I have already owned the Manfrotto Magic Arm with variable friction and quick release plate. That arm, even when tightened down all the way and not extended, has some wiggle to it. Put this thing in almost any position you want and tighten it down and it is going nowhere. I can shake my desk by shaking the other end of it. It doesn't move. I have too many flashlights and like using it with a couple super clamps and I can easily point them wherever I want.
