I needed a case to protect and carry gear while working, and wanted it to be an option for air travel. The 1510 fit that bill.
The only complaint I have is the long center divider. For most gear configurations, its fine, but I could see a use to have a shorter (or variable length) divider with the option of a perpendicular divider for even more configurability. I could see that having the option of being able to carry some gear and some clothing in the case could be pretty useful.
My "daily shooting" setup for the case holds 2 pro bodies with 16-35 and a 70-200 both with hoods attached, 300 2.8, batteries, flash, and some accessories. Having the hoods attached "wastes" some space, but one of the main reasons I had for buying the case was that I wanted something that I could have my cameras "ready to go" yet still protected in the car. If I'm arriving at spot news or stumbling across a feature, I didn't want to have to stop to find and attach hoods or get lenses on the cameras.
When I need longer glass, like for sports, I can get a 400 2.8, 70-200, 16-35, 2 pro bodies, 6 batteries, hoods, flash, and a charger with some space left for extra odds and ends.
This isn't really an issue for me, but if you are planning on using it for international travel, be aware that this case is pretty heavy. Fully loaded with gear, you're going to blow right by any international carry-on limits. For me, protection and the ability to carry-on domestically were the most important.
Bottom line, it's a great case and I've been happy with the purchase.

Pelican build quality is excellent - no issues there. I learned after buying this product, however, that the interior dimensions do not include the padded dividers or foam lid liner. So the case proved to be too small for my HDV video gear. I returned it and got the 1560 instead.

Comments about Pelican 1514 Carry On 1510 Case with Dividers (Black):
Excellent product. Dark colored dividers better than the tan. May get too heavy for hand plane hand luggage allowances with several lenses/bodies; however can't beat it for the protection.

Comments about Pelican 1514 Carry On 1510 Case with Dividers (Black):
This is by far the best case I have seen for the money. Very well built. Currently, I have it housing a 7D w/grip, 50D w/grip, 70-200 f2.8, 17-55 f2.8, 28-70 f2.8, 2 chargers, 8 batteries, CF card case and a netbook with power for my Sports Photo business. If I was forced to come up with a complaint--and its a very minor one--the handle when extended does have a bit of flex, but it doesn't feel cheap by any means. Buy one...maybe two

I'm using it for my toolbox. I fly all the time and the 1514 is perfect size for the overhead bin spaces in most airplanes. The dividers help keep me a little more organized.

Use for all my camera gear. We actually have 2.
Purchase these because of the great versatility and ability to take on plane and overseas.
Photographer I work with has taken his to Africa and fallen in a muddy river with it. Equipment and laptop perfectly dry and no damage.
Mine is going to China with me in a month.
Suggest the grey inserts. Mine are black and so is all my equipment....could use some contrast.

Comments about Pelican 1514 Carry On 1510 Case with Dividers (Black):
I use this case to transport and store my HDSLR camera and AKS. Shoulder mount, rods, follow focus, EVF/Onboard monitor, body, cards, card reader, cables, arms, handles, and a kit zoom lens. It fits everything more effectively and efficiently than the foam interior Pelican I had previously. It's ideal.
The only downside is that the carry-on size necessitates a narrow wheel-base, so while rolling the case over uneven terrain, or when dodging pedestrians, the case is likely to wobble, and if it's loaded up with weight, it will flip around, causing you to curse silently under your breath. Worse things have happened.

I'm a camera man with years of experience and I use Pelican case products on a day to day basis. I use this particular case to keep 2 DSLR cameras and all their extras plus a 4" Marshall monitor and 2 hard drives.
Great case indeed, it fell off the tailgate of the truck 2 nights after I got it and everything survived. It can fall down a flight of stairs and still survive!
We have a whole lot of humidity here in Miami and this case does a great job of keeping moisture out with the pressure valve.

Comments about Pelican 1514 Carry On 1510 Case with Dividers (Black):
This is a very rugged case that fits comfortably in the overhead compartment of full sized jet airliners. The padded dividers are very flexible and useful. My only concern is how the retractable handle will hold up over time. It extends and contracts smoothly and easily, but when extended, the connection point between the handle and the case seems less than rugged. We'll see.

Comments about Pelican 1514 Carry On 1510 Case with Dividers (Black):
Was apprehensive about getting the 1510 thinking it wouldn't be big enough to hold my u/w gear* almost got the 1560 and risk not being able to take it as a carryon. But there was plenty of room. Go for the dividers over the picknpluck foam much easier to configure and still protects as long as you are in control of the case. Great from storage-to travel-to boat. Glad I got the 1519 Lid organizer holds ball arms, clamps, oring kits and xtra batteries while taking up less space than the lid foam.
Only regret is the Black color as it gets hot on boat in sun (white towel over solves it) Wish you could get orange or yellow with the dividers at same price and in stock.

I bought this to use as carry-on luggage to protect my camera, a couple lenses, and my 17" laptop from airline baggage handlers. It works quite well. My 17" laptop just barely fits, but there was sufficient room for all the necessary accessories (mouse, external hard-drive, camera, charger, lenses, and manuals). Plus it fits quite easily in the overhead bins of all but the smallest regional jets.

Comments about Pelican 1514 Carry On 1510 Case with Dividers (Black):
At about $160, they are still within my "bag budget". Although this bag is definitely not "stealthy", it makes up for it with its "peace of mind" factor. Pelican cases are all known for their impact resistance, watertight-ness (note: not water-proof), and durability. Whenever I fly with my camera gear, I always make sure I pack as little as possible so that if I was forced to check my carry-on, I could at least take my camera out and put it underneath the seat in front of me. I'm definitely scared of putting my camera below deck, especially after reading this about baggage handlers. Basically I wanted some assurance that if I was carrying more than 2 lenses and my body, I would be slightly at ease if my case had to be checked at the gate.
So as you can tell, this is a hard-shelled bag. When closed, you can sit on it and it doesn't appear to flex very much at all (I'm about 185 lbs). The two 2-stage latches make opening and closing the Pelican case very easy, and when it snaps closed, you can just feel how secure your valuables will be. you can even drive a truck over it!
I got the Pelican 1510 Case with padded dividers because I knew I would need a bag that would adapt as my equipment adapted. Although the pick-and-pluck foams appears to provide a more custom fit and better impact resistance, I didn't want to commit myself to one configuration (although there are people out there who have re-pieced together plucked foams). I am still planning on some upgrades, so I wanted to "future-proof" my bag by getting the hook and loop-attached dividers. After a couple tries, I got the dividers where I wanted them, making so I could fit all my lenses, flashes, and accessories.
I can comfortably fit the following in my bag:
- Canon 40D with BG2-EN grip attached
- Canon XTi
- Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L
- Canon 50mm f/1.4
- Canon 100mm f/2.8
- Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
- Canon 580EXII
- Canon 430EXII
- Gary Fong Lightsphere I
- Giottos Rocket Bulb (Med)
- Joby DSLR Gorillapod
- Honl Bounce Card
- Lumiquest 80-20 Bounce Kit
- Opteka snoot
- Nikon LensPen Kit
- Remote trigger/timer
- 3x Radio flash receivers, 1x transmitter
- spare batteries
- XTi, 40D and AA/AAA battery chargers
- flash puffer

A very solid plastic, chunkily styled and water resistant case that offer great protection. For the size of the case it's honestly surprising how much you can fit in once you get the hang of packing it right.
The lid organizer is a great idea to contain all the bits and pieces that normally get tossed into corners and then fly around in the case. Installed it with some 2" wide industrial strength velco rather than the small screws provided.
I'm loving both the 1510 and its organizer!

I bought this case specifically for keeping my gear in something other than a bag when away at college, and having it locked and chained to my bed. This case is build like a tank! It may be expensive for a case, but you're buying something with exceptional build quality, and that's certainly something you don't want to skimp out on!

Comments about Pelican 1514 Carry On 1510 Case with Dividers (Black):
I'll start with the case its self. Fantastically built and a beautiful seal. Extremely professional looking and solid casing. Plastic is not brittle and explosive feeling. I image it could take a few solid drops and smile at you asking for more punishment!
The rolling handle is sooo nice for air travel or anywhere this thing has to get lugged around. It's not light, but its also not supposed to be. size is great to fit a couple camera bodies and 4-6 lenses and a speedlite.
The divider system is nice because it can be modified. As your kit changes, so can the space. Pluck foam your stuck with what you create. (Which may or may not be fine for you.)
All in all I love it and highly recommend the kit.
