The Audio-Technica AT2020 is a cost effective studio condenser microphone intended for vocal and general instrument capturing in project and professional studio environments. The capsule features a 16mm low-mass, side-address diaphragm with a cardioid polar pattern. The cardioid pattern is effective in rejecting ambiance and noise at the off-axis sections of the microphone capsule. A linear frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz enables the flexibility to accurately reproduce signals from any source. High SPL handling and wide dynamic range allow the AT2020 to capture loud signals with minimal noise and distortion. The microphone includes a pivoting, threaded stand mount for accurate positioning.

At the same session, I recorded two singers together: a man with the Neumann TLM 103 and a woman with the Audio-Technica AT2020 and I can´t feel many differences about sound quality. It was a good surprise for me, I was affraid because the price of AT2020 is cheap but the studio performance of AT2020 is really nice and I recommend it.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 - Condenser Microphone:
I use this mic for voiceover work, interviews and other spoken word applications. It delivers a clean, transparent sound. A lot of bang for the buck, and the price at B&H was far cheaper than I found anywhere else. Definitely recommended.

Good range, sturdy construction. However, the shock mount for this mic is $60 - higher in cost than some other brands'. Great Budget microphone, but you better use a Pop Filter.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 - Condenser Microphone:
I'm hard-pressed to think of another condenser mic that offers equal or better quality for the price. It's just simply a steal. It's sturdy, but not too heavy, making it a good choice for drum overheads. The flat response picks up all pieces of the kit without being harsh. On vocals it's solid, but for a few dollars more you will find a better & more open large diaphragm mic (AKG Perception 220, for example). For home use, just get a modest preamp & it will benefit you greatly with the AT2020 (e.g., the ART TubeMP). I dig.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 - Condenser Microphone:
I am using the microphone to record my voice for work and private uses. I tested it against the Shure Headset WH20 and the Sennheiser e835. The ears told me that the AT2020 is the better mic. I did a "Reveal" analysis in Peak Pro 6 (shows the gain response vs. frequency). The AT2020 showed a wider frequency range response than either the Shure or the Sennheiser mics.
Before, I hated to hear my recorded voice. Now I can easily listen to it, even though I don't have the "Radio Voice".

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 - Condenser Microphone:
This condenser is a great value for female vocals, even running through a "cheap" focusrite saffire pre it does a great job at representing the facts. Do some research, and you will see that it has stood up to much more expensive mics in shootouts. Note that by nature side address condensers do not reject off axis noise well, so if you are using it in an untreated environment you might consider a reflection filter. Also plosives will most likely be a problem, so a pop filter is a must.
Overall, I would recommend this to anyone.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 - Condenser Microphone:
After much deliberation and comparing many mics within my budget, I decided to go with the AT2020. I was not disappointed. I was very surprised by the quality of the sound produced from this mic especially for the price.
I'm running it to my macbook pro through the Icicle audio interface by Blue Microphones and recording using Logic (but Garageband works well too). I use the AT2020 to record my a cappella group and it picks up the wide vocal ranges well. Rich and full low end and warm highs without the shrill.
I do strongly recommend a pop filter though, as it does pick up the b's and p's a little too well.
I really feel the AT2020 is a leader in this price range and recommend it for the budget studio as well as an all around workhorse for the pros.

I use the AT2020 for voice recording. It's a very warm sounding mic (with my voice anyway). very sensitive, but quiet. I use it with a Centrance MicPort Pro USB preamp with excellent results. Seems fairly rugged.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 - Condenser Microphone:
This is a cheap condenser mic with low output and
a cold response. Not impressed with it at all. for the low price its hard to complain but for the same money could have purchased a shure 57 and would have gotten a tougher better sounding microphone. You truly get what you pay for.
