Upgraded a Bebop LANC controller with this. Doesn't necessarily add as many features as it does simplifying them. But what a job it does at simplifying. Primary downside is the heftier price tag.

We have a Canon GL2 that we use to send a video signal to an overflow room @ our church. The zoom arm has been an amazing help for our camera operators. They are able to control the speed of the zoom (3 adjustable speeds, plus you can manually set your own speed setting), adjust the focus on the zoom arm, and it has an auto focus button. You can also adjust the length of the arm to suit your needs.
The cost is a little high, but is well worth it. It does not come with an attachment to mount to your tripod, so make sure you either buy an extra one or you can use the one from your tripods original arm.

I have used the cheap Sony Lanc remote and this thing makes the Sony remote seem like junk. You can program this for different zoom speeds and change the direction of the zoom controller. This has a great solid feel to it too!

I'm an event videographer that has to move tripods in a car's back seat/trunk. The ring just above the soft grip handle will crack. I have no idea why they would all crack but beware. When they crack the zoom thumb-wheel is worthless at that point. I've had three now that cracked and had to replace with a [$]replacement part from Manfrotto (great parts and service dept.) It's a freakin' nightmare folks! Taking it apart is easy but re-assembling will make you crazy. Manfrotto offered to repair it for free (I think) but I don't have the time luxury of giving up my babies (too busy) Great product but pricey.
