I got this lanc control to use on my Sony HVR-HD100U because it was just to much of struggle to zoom from the cam and trying to make pro looking zooms were just plain impossible while moving the tripod. I played with several other lanc controllers at the BH super store and with me having a cash flow problem at the moment. The others were just too much out of my league. They didn't have this one on display (or I didn't see it) but after reading and sifting through the reviews, for the price I figure I'd give it a try, so far I've been plugging it in and it works, I would recommend getting the 522sca Remote Control Coiled Cable by Manfrotto to give you that extra line from cam to the lanc. I haven't come across the issue others spoke about with it not responding, it is a simple record/pause, and zoom. It may not have that little creep that others have when you release the zoom. But with a little practice and sensitivity you can make very good pro looking zooms. It is a throttle design and works well. It's pretty well built and I'm not one that bangs my equipment around because if you don't treat your equipment with some care it won't matter how much you spend you will break it. So far when I'm recording I get a lot of compliments about the quality zooms this lanc makes. It does give you a more professional look as appose to reaching all the way in front of your cam to zoom. So as I always say until I can be in a better financial state to upgrade, I will use this lanc and make the best of what I got. So if your budget is low like mine give this a try and apply some professional practice, I hear pros talking about everybody's cutting into their business well if all equipment was made so easy that everyone can use it, then guess what "everyone will be using it"

For the price, not bad at all. Feels very solid, and it's quite easy to get a smooth zoom. The only con I could think of, and it's not a problem in our particular situation, is that the cable is not very long. So make sure before you buy that it will be long enough for what you want to do.

Comments about Libec Zoom Control for DV Cameras:
This zoom control works as well as the on-camera zoom on my Panasonic HMC-40. Great control. I wish the cable was a little longer so a could use it on my monopod to get overhead shots held up high and still have zoom control. Cable looks like a standard 1/8" stereo audio cable but it is not. Haven't checked yet to see if Libec offers a longer cable.

Comments about Libec Zoom Control for DV Cameras:
This zoom controller works with my Panasonic HMC-150, as well as my Canon HF-S200. It actually works BETTER with my canon. The rocker is extremely natural and it's very easy to go from a slow, natural zoom, to a fast zoom. On my Panasonic, there's a little bit of play in the control before the zoom kicks in. It just doesn't seem as responsive, although it's just as smooth. This is the only reason it gets 4/5 stars. The "Record" button engages with a satisfying click. I record mostly live sports events, and this is a must for colder weather games when you're wearing gloves.

For pre-recording of the weekly programs at a church studio where I have to use constant zoom in and out since is like a live tv show, except we are pre-recording.
This product is great because is small and you can move around and its in all of my tripod the portables and the dolly we have here I am very happy and so is my crew members.

I use with a Sony NX5 on tripod arm. It is solidly built, and an excellent value. Only mild complaint is the start/stop button makes a fairly loud click. It's a good audible cue that you've made the connection, but might be disturbing to people nearby.

Comments about Libec Zoom Control for DV Cameras:
I've had controllers that were more than twice as expensive and didn't work as well. I use with Sony NX-5, and PD-170 cams. Solid construction; great value. Nice to have the Panasonic option built in. Only con so far is the start/stop switch makes quite a loud click. But won't show up on cam audio, and is a good cue that you've actually made contact.

I love this LANC remote. Especially the price, as was on special for [$] (down from [$]) when i purchased.I purchased this to go with my Canon XA10 camera.Easy to put on the handle of the Manfrotto 701HDV tripod head, and the cable is plently long enough. The zoom control rocker switch is a decent size, very smooth and easy to use, unlike some other models i have used.

Comments about Libec Zoom Control for DV Cameras:
Anyone who uses a smaller camera on a tripod knows how much of a pain it is to pan/tilt and zoom at the same time. I just needed a cheap zoom controller for the tripod handle to make life easier and I found it with this product. It's small, light, easy to mount, and does not get in the way. It allows for variable zoom speed and was easy to get used to. I only found one minor flaw which is why I did not give it five stars. To get the camera to zoom in or out as fast as possible, you have to rocker the switch all the way over, back to center quickly, then back over full. You have to do this quickly to do fast zooms. That can be a pain until you get used to it. However, considering how much cheaper this is to the next cheapest option, I can live with it. FYI, I'm using this with a Sony HXR-NX5U.

A nice low cost LANC zoom controller. It is a progressive speed controller i.e. the further you push the lever the faster the zoom speed will be. There is just the right amount of center dead zone before the zoom starts to move at its lowest speed in both directions. A quick release of the lever while zooming results in quick but very smooth stop. Works great on my Sony HDR-CX550V with the addition of a Manfrotto 2.5mm to D shape AV/R adaptor cable B&H # MA522AV

Comments about Libec Zoom Control for DV Cameras:
This is by far one of the best lens controllers for the price I have found. I use it on my Canon HD A1 video camera and it is smooth and reliable, very easy to switch from my mono pod to my tripod and fairly rugged, worth every penny it cost. It only has basic controls like start and stop and zoom but that is really all I ever use with a lens controller.
