I bought this hand strap after seeing my friend with one on his Nikon D-SLR. I recently went on a trip and felt that it was well wroth the investment. Of course there weren't any directions on how to install it on the camera but it was pretty easy to figure out.
I added a Manny Quick Plate to the bottom of this so I can put my camera in either my Tripod or Monopod
If I has to pick a con for this it would be that the base does tend to move a little once in a while. This obviously allows the camera to creep a little when in a tripod or monopod. This is easily addressed by making sure it is really tight before hand.
The only other comment would be that it blocks the battery door from opening enough to remove the battery. This is resolved by loosening it and moving it out of the way but it does make for an extra step when swapping out the battery.

Bought this for my 60d and found 2 things:
1) works like magic to give you a secure grip and makes holding onto camera for long periods much more comfortable.
2) camera is almost unuseable with it inplace - cant get to the thumb wheel or half the buttons so you still need 2 hands free to shoot
If you dont need a lot of thumb mobility on your camera then this is worth a shot- but i switched to a detatchable strap instead.

This hand strap is a nice alternative to the usual neck strap. It's comfortable, feels secure, and is affordable. You still have the option to attach a neck strap, too.

Comments about Sunpak Contoured Hand Strap for SLR Camera:
I should have gotten this long time ago. I've always hated the neck strap and I used to wrap it around my hand to hold the camera. This hand strap solves the problem and gives me a feeling of security when shooting. The strap is kind of small which works perfectly for my small hands, but it probably will not work for someone with larger hands, specially if it is a man. The material is all synthetic but it fells good enough to last a good while.

Works great. Only problem with it were that it is impossible for me to get both the neck strap and this strap through the hole on my camera. I just attached this strap to the neck strap strap. Ghetto, but it works. Also this comes with a little plastic nub that is supposed to go along the bottom edge of the camera. It didn't work with my Sony a560, so I had to use a wire cutter to chop it off. It came off easy and looks and works fine now. It does tend to unloosen over time, but if you run the strap back through the plastic adjustment thing, it'll keep it in place.

Comments about Sunpak Contoured Hand Strap for SLR Camera:
I use this w/ a small DSLR (Canon T2i). My real complaint is that the strap that goes inside the wide part that wraps your hand is thin; the same width as what goes through the camera strap mount. The wide part does a poor job of distributing the weight/force from the camera so it feels almost like the wide part isn't there.
Spend a little more if you will use this for more than an hour at a time.

This strap fits nicely on my D7000 and is secure. For the price, it can't be beat, especially since the Nikon version retails for over $70 in Canada. I'm very pleased with this, as I no longer have to twist my neck strap multiple times around my forearm. I like that I can still attach the camera to a tripod with the strap attached. I'm just sorry I didn't know this was around a long time ago, I would have surely bought it!

Comments about Sunpak Contoured Hand Strap for SLR Camera:
first discovery was the strap was too short. then the tab to stop the bottom screwdown from swinging hindered the viewfinder from opening. I filed the tab so the door could open and bought a longer strap, which is a real pain to make work. You need to thread two pieces through the plastic thing. Use pliers. I use the 14-35mm f2 which is heavy. Get something else if this is what you're using.

I use this strap on my Canon 50D DSLR. I like it but there are a few drawbacks. To replace the battery on my camera, I have to unscrew the strap to get the battery door open. The adjustment strap does not stay put and I have to keep adjusting it - i might put a few stitches in it to make it stay put!
Overall though I'm glad I dont have to have a shoulder strap hanging from it all the time now!

Comments about Sunpak Contoured Hand Strap for SLR Camera:
This is a good buy for the price. I was looking for a nice hand strap for my Sony a560 and bought this because it was affordable. It isn't a perfect fit but it gets the job done. I had to make a small modification to the plastic tab that hold it in place due to the fact that it hindered the movement of my LCD screen, but a few minutes with my trusty pocket knife and the problem was resolved.
It does limit my ability to easily reach all the buttons on the camera using only my right hand, but I'm lucky enough to have a left hand too, so it's not too big of a problem. It gives me some peace of mind when shooting on a hot day when my hands are sweaty and slippery....my fear of an accidental camera drop has mysteriously disappeared.
It's also nice to be able to connect the camera to a tripod without having to remove the hand strap.

Comments about Sunpak Contoured Hand Strap for SLR Camera:
I personally cannot stand wearing a neck strap, but also want an added level of protection against dropping my camera when getting into a shoot. This hand strap was the perfect solution for me. My hands are very thin and I have long fingers. It thought the fit was great for me. I just had to shorten the strap quite a bit and then it was perfect! I would highly recommend this hand strap!

Comments about Sunpak Contoured Hand Strap for SLR Camera:
This hand strap works like a charm! I did have to adjust the strap so that it would not unlace by feeding the strap through the loop, then the camera eyelet, then back through the loop so that it was doubled. This made it much more reliable and though the strap overlaps, it is inside the padding and isn't visually or tactilely noticeable at all. I don't have any trouble reaching all of the buttons on my Canon 60D. This hand strap, paired with my Kata DT-211 Torso Pack, allows for a very quick and secure draw for those briefest of moments that require fast and easy access to my rig.

I used a tripod a lot of time , so I usually had a long strap hanging and getting caught around the camera. With this strap I can still use my tripod and when I need to hand hold the camera I get a sure safe grip.
