Before I bought this amplifier, I would have to connect my headphones (Sennheiser HD201 and eH350) to my desktop speaker's headphone output each time I wanted to use them (late at night, for example). In order to get roughly the same listening volume through my headphones, I'd have to really crank up the volume knob on my speakers (they take a lot of power compared to your typical earbuds). With the HA400, I can keep my headphones and speakers connected all the time. When I want to use my headphones, I just turn down the volume control for the port my speakers are connected to and turn up the volume for my headphones (and vice versa to use the speakers again). This amplifier really lets me enjoy my headphones.
The amplifier seems really well built and solid. The input/outputs are all 1/4" stereo connectors (could be a con for some, but I have a bunch of 1/4"-1/8" adapters already, so it's not a problem for me). The only thing that I feel it's really lacking is a power switch, but in reality, that's not a big deal to me. All in all, I highly recommend.

Only real use would be as a headphone splitter. I bought these to power some AKG 271's I have for mixing and listening purposes. Let's just say the headphones sound better plugged into a ipod than plugging into the amp. The HA400 seems rather boomy and bassy and cloudy. not real clear. Also a lot of buzzing going on, kind of loud. The knobs take a lot of force to turn so without even testing this amp out you can already tell its made out of bad materials. I bought this on impulse because I need something inexpensive for my headphones and this had rather good reviews. I woulddd NOT buy this again, unless you need a cheap 4-way headphone splitter. Bad quality stuff. This amp holds up to Behringer's reputation lol, cheap and poorly-made.
As for specs: one 1/4 input,
four 1/4 outputs.
independent volume control
on/off light
It would be nice to have a left and right option for the input as well as more than one input.

Exactly as advertised. Very good volume. Tightly engineered. My only wish was that it had individual pan and mono switches for a split cue, but you wouldn't expect that in a [$] headphone amp.

Comments about Behringer HA-400 - MicroAmp 4-Channel Miniature Headphone Amplifier:
Overall I am happy with my purchase and for infrequent use its great. I use it when I record rock bands and all of the players want to hear the recording. Before I used a passive headphone splitter but that was cumbersome and we had to take turns. Now all the members can listen to the playback at once and adjust the volume to their liking. Also, not all headphones have the same impedance and therefor different volumes at the same output level.
My two complaints are, first the amplifier part isn't that impressive. You need to have the dialed turned 75% of the way over for normal audio level compared to the input device. This only gives you maybe a 30% gain ability. After setting 9 on the dial it starts to get noisy.
My second complaint is that it only comes with 1/4in jacks as opposed to dual 1/4 1/8 inch. This means you need headphone adapters and I soldered my own 1/4-1/8inch converter cable to use with my laptop soundcard. Also, I have used this with the Samson G-track which has a 1/8in output. Overall it has been very helpful.

Comments about Behringer HA-400 - MicroAmp 4-Channel Miniature Headphone Amplifier:
I use this as a no-frills way to have band practice in an apartment. I run all the instruments into a mixer and then send the mix to this amp. Each band member plugs their headphones in, and we rock out. Sure, it's not ideal, and no one has the ability to tailor their individual mix, but this thing only cost me [$]

Does exactly what I wanted it to. My EMU 1212m has no proper headphone out. So I split the emu analog outputs sending it to the HA 400. Sound great on Beyer DT770 250 ohm

Trying for a couple of years to take the sound straight from the cable box to headphones. Just couldn'nt get enough volume and wanted to avoid wearing hearing aids all evening. The HA-400 works perfectly for me. easy set up and plenty of volume.

This little headphone Amp is ideal for watching TV or listening to music without bothering your spouse. I use it to watch TV in the bed at night.
It is compact and efficient as well as sounds fantastic. The only complaint about the unit is that it does not have on/off switch.

The Behringer HA400 is perfect if you need a headphone splitter. However, I bought this to increase the headphone volume from my Traktor S4 controller, with minimal results. It's built well and affordable.

Does what it's supposed to do. Heavy, solid feel. Knobs feel good too. Only complaint is that it could have an on/off switch so I didn't have to yank the power after I use it every time.

Excellent is all regarda that i can think of offhand.
I cannot speak about professional uses. But it seems to be of excellent quality. I personally could use 1/8" or RCA inputs and outputs. However, the existing inputs and outputs would be better for many purposes, I suppose, and adapters are readily available.

We are an over the air TV station, and we use about 20 or so of these to control the audio levels of various outgoing feeds. The great thing about them is they are so cheap; but so reliable. (We have never had one go bad on us!)
